The flies were awful, and lots of ants. Otherwise the park is beautiful. Gates close at 10. Wouldn't stay again because of flies. We camped at Foster Park in a Travel Trailer.

Went to Lake Casitas and it was full, ranger directed me to this little gem. Don't like crowds and had spent 2 days trying to snag a spot on the beach at Rincon Parkway. What a nightmare. This park has had the full hook up sites recently renovated and the pads are new and level. Full hookups--water, electric, sewer. Lots of oak trees, lots of shade. Picnic tables and fire rings. They have restrooms too but did not use them. Spaces are far apart and I love that. Wish more parks were this way!

No activities here. Just relaxation and maybe some exploring and hiking. City of Ventura is close, as is the town of Ojai. We camped at Foster Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is an area above the restrooms and the road sign says "no turn around" they mean that! Never go up there with an RV. Tent sites only..

We had intended to stay at Lake Casitas, but learned about the 2-night weekend minimum the hard way. At the end of a long (but fabulous) drive over 166 down winding but gorgeous 33. The fellow at Lake Casitas sent us to nearby Foster Park, a teeny tiny park that is well past its glory days. Trails are barricaded, and for good reason. Tree limbs are down everywhere, no maintenance of any kind. The 10 RV sites are paved (back-ins) but pretty off-level. There is a fair amount of road noise, too. It's OK for a one-nighter, but we should have gone back toward Ojai and stayed at Camp Comfort, where we could have at least, walked the mile to downtown Ojai. Here, we're sort of stuck (no toad) on a highway with the bad trails. Oh well. Better luck tomorrow, as at least we have Internet access for better research. We camped at Foster Park in a Motorhome.
