This is a rustic park with huge sites and lots of towering pine trees. Our site had great WiFi, TV cable, electric, sewer and water connections plus a huge new picnic table and a fire pit. The 8,000 square foot site was excellent and we really felt we were in the woods. There are only a few mobile homes left in the park and no new mobile homes are being accepted. The sites are level. Satellite reception is spotty because of the trees. Our Verizon phones had good reception. We spent three nights here and want to return. We camped at Lassen West Village in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed visiting Chester, Lake Almanor and Westwood. It is an easy walk into Westwood. The local museum in Westwood was wonderful with a helpful staff and interesting exhibits. There are several restaurants in Westwood plus more in Chester and the Lake Almanor Peninsula. On our next trip to Lassen West Village, I want to book a guided fishing trip on Lake Almanor.

Tips for other Campers:

Went for a drive to Lassen Volcano national park; saw deer, antelope, sandhill cranes. Close to Susanville for shopping and anything you could want. Saw 9 deer on the way to Susanville, beautiful country.

Overall Rating:

It is an old mobile home park that is being converted into an RV park so each site is where a mobile home previously stood. This translates into very large gravel lots which were easy to back into with our 38' motorhome. In fact we could have pulled in 1 or 2 other RVs along with 2 or 3 vehicles. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Water pressure was good and tasted OK. Our electric connection did not work correctly but when I told the manager they had someone there quickly to correct the problem. We only stayed one night so did not hook up the sewer until the morning when we were ready to leave to dump just the gray water. Lifted a metal cap that covered a PVC pipe and started to dump and immediately started to overflow. Told the manager and she said that was the wrong pipe. They had 2 other pipes covered by small black plastic caps with nothing being labeled. She apologized for not informing us. So be aware of connection. Because of the trees it took a little bit of adjusting before I was able to get a satellite TV signal with our detached antennae. We were traveling through and just spending the one night so it worked fine for us. The park has the potential to be a very nice park but still needs work which they are doing. Be prepared to go through a lot of paperwork when you register. Evidently the owner is a stickler for following the laws and it is as if you are making a long term lease. We camped at Lassen West Village in a Motorhome.

Sites were very spacious lengths and widths. FHU with sewer and 50 amp at all sites. Wifi provided. Cell service good (AT&T). Mature trees limit satellite reception. Hosts are very friendly and accommodating. After setting up, host had a new picnic table and firewood delivered. Good fishing with several lakes nearby. Would definitely come back. We camped at Lassen West Village in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Most important tip: Don't take CA32 to park. It's not RV friendly. Several lakes close by for fishing. Small quaint town. Cute stores in Westwood and nearby Chester and Susanville. Historical museum in town. Home of Paul Bunyan and his Ox, Blue. Great pizza and sandwiches at Buffalo Chip's Pizza in town.

Overall Rating:

Tent camping for only one night. Lots of mosquitos after dark. Then there were the freight trains nearby. At 12:15 a.m. it sounded like that train was going to come right through my tent! Another one at 1:15 a.m. and another one at 4:30 a.m. I could feel the ground vibrate as the trains went by at about 30 MPH. The horns were LOUD! After the 4:30 a.m. train, I just wanted to get out of there. I took a shower in the excellent shower rooms, packed up and departed. Never did get enough sleep. Perhaps inside a motorhome the noise of the train wouldn't be so shocking, but that first train sure gets your attention! We camped at Lassen West Village in a Tent.

Tips for other Campers:

Less train noise on the east side of the campground, but tents have to use the west side. I wouldn't recommend tent camping here no matter how nice the shower rooms are. If you insist on tent camping, wear earplugs because of the trains. Nice little restaurant in town on 4th street called the Old Mill Cafe. Great breakfasts. The restaurant serves better quality of food than I found in the town of Chester 14 miles away.

Overall Rating:

This place is a work in progress, and they have the space to turn this into a premier RV park. The sites are huge, with mature ponderosa pines all around. There might be 70-100 acres here, and they are moving beyond the long-term residents in old double-wides, to a dedicated RV park. The electric appears to be in, as well as water and sewer. Driveways are being graded and gravel installed. New fire rings and grills are being added. There are two new, cute little cabins with their own bathroom and bedroom. There are laundry facilities and restrooms. Wi-fi is free, but slow. Two sites have small corrals with water tanks and hay racks. New picnic tables. I'm betting this place is going to be much improved by next season! Management was friendly and helpful. Even if they weren't making all the improvements, I'd come back here just to enjoy the roominess, the trees, and the nearby scenery and outdoor activities. I liked this place a lot! We camped at Lassen West Village in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is not a typical RV park. This more of a campground setting with huge lots(8,000 sq. ft.) I have room for my 43' 5th wheel, a 14' enclosed trailer that we use to haul a golf cart and bikes, and both of our vehicles with plenty of room to spare. There is no extra charge for the extra vehicles and trailers. It has a lot of shade with tall pines all around. The management is very friendly. The park does have some permanent residents, but the back half of the park is dedicated to RV's only. The Biz Johnson trail is about a mile away. The sites are full hook-up with 50 amp service. This place is a diamond in the rough compared to other places that stack you in like sardines. You have room for all your toys and then some. The park will provide you with picnic table and fire ring at your request. This park is only ten minutes from the historic town of Chester and Lake Almanor. With a little more attention paid to the grounds maintenance, this place would be an absolute dream come true for summer campers and four wheelers or boaters. It also has paved roads in very good condition. There are no concrete patios, so you'll need a patio mat. We camped at Lassen West Village in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Susanville is about 20 miles away and is where you'll find Walmart, restaurants and the casino. There are gas stations, restaurants and a museum here in Westwood. Lassen Volcano is only a 30-40 minute drive away. The next town over is Chester, which appears to be the hotspot for summer vacationers. The town goes from about 10,000 people to 50,000 people in the summer due to Lake Almanor. The fishing is excellent with Large and Small mouth bass, German Brown Trout, Pike and others.
