This place is way overpriced for what you get. Right on the interstate, noise is constant. No hard surfaces or grass, only gravel. Shade is minimal. Services worked well. We've stayed in much nicer places and paid way less. OK for an overnight stop but we won't be back. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Moderately spacious level sites with easily accessible hookups. WiFi was excellent. Our surge protector tripped on low voltage several times due to low voltage. Desk clerk stated it was due to Edison lowering voltage in San Bernardino. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Calico Ghost town is a nice touristy visit. Gas at Chevron was a dollar more per a gallon than the station on the other side of freeway underpass.

As others have said, this park is okay for an overnight stop. We appreciated the trees at our site that offered some shade from the heat, and the sites were long and wide enough to be reasonable. The price is very high for the location. The wifi was iffy - it usually didn't work for my iPad, but did for my husband's. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you're coming from I-40, go straight under the I-15 freeway and turn left on the second frontage road. Don't follow your gps and turn left on the first frontage road because you'll have to go 2 miles to the next overpass and 2 miles back!

Hot, hot, hot. It is desert. Some shade sites. Pet area has no shade, so caution. Ground was over 130deg. Adequate for overnight, depending on temperature. If you do not need to go outside your unit, can be fine for overnight. I would not pay extra for an upgraded site, since it was too hot to be outside. Propane service required calling in to schedule someone to be at fill station. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

This is the best option in an area of few options. We used it as a stop over and it was fine. Not a destination campground. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

We stay here for a night when traveling through this area. It's about 170 miles from our home and its a good stop over before venturing on a long trip or when coming back from a long trip. Sites are fairly level and we do not have to unhook as sites are long enough for our 35' fiver and truck. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

There's some highway noise from I-15 and the rates are high, but for a 1 night stay it's convenient. We'd stay here again. The loops and sites are gravel. It's an attractive park. Our site #3 had short shrubs between it and the next site. There are other sites under very tall trees. The views of mountains from the park were scenic. The showers were clean and had modern tile. The drying area was a bit narrow, and there was no bench. This is a good park to stay at if you need easy access on and off I-15. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

The office has a few grocery items which are expensive as you'd expect. They had frozen moon pie ice cream sandwiches worth getting.

Easy to locate off I15. Being close to interstate didn't bother us at all, in fact didn't hear any noise inside trailer. Wifi was non-existent which was disappointing. We had some nice shade. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We came to visit Calico. We have stayed here several times over the past five years - each time we return, it appears more run down. However, it really is still the best park in the area (although, the county park near Calico looks much improved over the years). The good: location is easy to get to; sites easy to park in; bushes divide the spaces and our aisle had large pine trees with lots of shade; the store is well-stocked with necessities; the staff was friendly and helpful. The bad: no Wi-Fi outside of store/clubhouse using their hotspot (which worked well, but was not convenient); the game room was pretty beat up - needs refreshing (especially billiard table with torn felt); cable TV did not work ( 12 local channels can be picked up by TV antenna - our sat TV was blocked by trees, which would have been OK if we got cable ); 11am (used to be noon) check out time. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to make a reservation - this park gets pretty crowded, even mid-week ( see above).

Go to Peggy Sue's restaurant, nearby, at least once during your stay.

On the plus side we found the staff accommodating. Even gave us a discount on propane fill because we had to wait 10 minutes. Be sure to get a site with shade trees. Made a huge difference. On the negative side I don't like the oleander bushes with warning signs about berries, leaves and wood being poisonous. Our dog loves bushes so had to watch carefully. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

Got in very late at night and got probably not the best site in the park. It was right in front of the entrance and no shade at all. The space was large and open. Others we were with had shady spaces. So next time I will try to reserve one of those. Their sites were very nice, shaded and quite large as well. Overall a good place to go in the desert. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

This was our 2nd time here (we didn't make notes in 2012). It's really about the only place in Yermo. Very over-priced, even for a KOA. "Cute" with the train caboose, etc. but, really...lots of food choices (I guess because of the military base and truckers) but the staff and the 'desert' area, it's nothing but an over-night pull in with a high price attached. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Motorhome.

This is actually a good Koa. Unfortunately they are in a dying area. It is no frills... basically desert with no shade in our area. Perhaps avoiding summer heat would be a better idea. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We camped at Barstow / Calico KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
