After reading the previous reviews I almost passed this one by. I'm glad that I didn't because it was just fine and MUCH nicer than the only other choice in town. We got a 50 amp pull-through at the back of the park with a great view of the surrounding snow-covered peaks out our back window. These pull-through sites are huge, easily 100' long. You can position a large trailer in the middle and then park either in front or behind.

Park store is clean and well stocked. Staff was friendly. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

I'm not sure what is going on with KOA recently, but their parks have really gone downhill. This is a typical KOA of recent years, kind of run down, looks like they just put down new gravel for some of the sites and roadways. There is some grass/weeds between some of the sites. It's an OK stopover on your way elsewhere. If you have dogs, there are rabbits everywhere.....and I mean everywhere! If they are chasers, they will go nuts! The grass/weed area between sites is covered in rabbit poop, I've never seen so much! Not their fault, it's just there are so many darn rabbits! If I were tent camping here, it would be kind of gross! We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great Sand Dunes National Park is amazing! You can rent sleds/sand boards to sled or "ski" down the dunes at a place called The Oasis. We didn't, but we watched others and it looked like a ton of fun! Dogs are allowed on leash as well.

Run down, tired campground. Sites aren't level. Rabbits and rabbit poop EVERYWHERE. Our dogs tried to eat the poop (yes, that's gross) and one of them did eat a few turds and got sick for the rest of our vacation. Worst of all was a family with at least 5 dogs. 3 adults (mother, father, adult son) who verbally fought continuously and used foul language (fxxk you) in every sentence. If our grandchildren had been with us, we would have left immediately. We actually felt threatened by their presence. We spoke with the owners who sympathized but did nothing to correct the problem. Worst campground of our 4 week trip. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great Sand Dunes are close by and probably the least impressive National Park we have visited (which are many). Pagosa Springs is about 30 miles away and has much nicer campgrounds in abundance.

This is a bare bones park and probably the roughest looking KOA I have stayed in, but it worked for an overnight stop. You kind of expect the KOA to be a parking lot with sites squeezed together. However, at this particular KOA if we had not been led to our site I would not have know which site was which. It was hard to tell where the site began and where it ended. I guess what I am trying to say is it looks as though this park could use a face lift. The staff was friendly and very helpful they truly made the difference. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Campus Cafe is a good spot for breakfast, but get there early as this place is popular.

Typical KOA park. Good gravel interior roads, level gravel sites. Sites drive thru and long. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed two nights while in area. Very helpful office staff. Level gravel site with good utilities. Wifi good most of time. Lots of activities for kids. Laundry machines all worked well. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to visit Great Sands NP.

All gravel roads and sites. I did not need to level side to side and didn't see an one else who did. Easy to get in and out. Good location for Sand Dune National Park and the Royal Gorge in Cannon. I would stay here again. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Typical overpriced, tight KOA. More big rig sites than most KOA's. Not many options in Alamosa. Strong WiFi and good Verizon coverage. Dirt roads and gravel pull through sites. Many of the pull through sites are not on an angle making them difficult to pull into. The larger, more expensive sites are on an angle. Good stopover park but not a destination place. Will camp here again if we don't have other options. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Only 30 minutes to Great Sands National Park.

This is a good park for either an overnight or for a longer period. We were there 4 nights, and found lots of things to do and see in the area. The park was well laid out, spaces very long and flat, power and utilities were good, so no complaints. The owners were very friendly and willing to help with local info and suggestions. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited the Great Sand Dunes, very interesting. Lots of hiking in the area, as well as bird watching at the Wildlife Refuge.

I used this campground for a one night stop over on my way to Mesa Verde NP. It was very clean and all the staff were very helpful. There were nice views of the surrounding mountains from my back row site. The campground is all gravel but the site was level and services were good and easy to connect to. It was very quiet at night. There is no shade. A nice bonus is they make and deliver pizza right to your site which was a huge convenience for me. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here before and will stay again when in the area. Clean, level pull thru with good utilities. Check in and escort to site were friendly and they made sure that we were set before leaving. This is not a resort, but is a nice quiet, clean stopover for us. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

First impressions as we pulled in was how depressing this park looked. It is probably the most deflated I have been after arriving at a campground in a long time. On the side of the highway, nothing but dirt and weeds, backing on to what looks like a run down farm. Water pressure low with a bad taste. No cable, only one or two over the air channels. 3 miles from Alamosa. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Motorhome.

We camped here in the beginning of July with the temperatures being very warm during the day and perfectly cool at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful checking us in quickly. We were led to our site which was gravel, large and level with easy access to all the hook ups. The bathrooms were clean though the showers are a little cramped with little space to turn around and none of my family is large. We had plenty of room to set up a 12 x 12 domed canopy for cooking and eating in comfort. The view of the mountains from the campground is beautiful. We we would go back. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This was a nice campground, but not exceptional. It has no grass. It was mostly a gravel lot. They did have a nice dog run and great pizza that they delivered to your motorhome site. The pool was clean. The ladies at the front desk were nice. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Motorhome.

This place was a little overpriced. Sites were gravel and fairly level. They list 6 TV channels but we only received 4. Restrooms were clean. Beautiful view of the mountains. Far enough from the road that noise was not an issue. We ordered the campground pizza and it was delivered to our site. WIFI was intermittent. We camped at Alamosa KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
