nice park between gunnison and taylor lake reservoir. most sites were small, but ours-#24 was huge. my only issue--$8.00 a night for 30 amp service is a bit high. can't use that much juice in 24 hours. We camped at One Mile in a Motorhome.

Beautiful setting, large site, good location for hiking and exploring nature. Verizon worked great, zero AT&T. 30 amp hookup is very adequate for this time of year. Sites are a little uneven, so a little patience when leveling. Would have scored higher, but major roadwork occurring directly by the campground making for bumpy roads and delays. When completed, will be awesome. We camped at One Mile in a Motorhome.

This campground is across the road from the Taylor River. The road, although busy during the day, is quiet at night. Most of the sites have large trees around them, so satellite access is poor. Verizon worked well here. They have improved this campground over the years and the camp hosts keep it immaculate. The sites have a lot of space between them so, one has a fair amount of privacy. The dump site is down a dirt road about 15 miles up the canyon. It is not very well designed, and they charge $5.00. The dirt road is a very rough 4 mile drive. Next time we would just drive back to Gunnison or over the pass to Buena Vista to dump at a private campground. This is a beautiful area to hike, fish, and enjoy the outdoors. We camped at One Mile in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful and serene natural setting in Taylor Canyon. Large pull through gravel site with large private sitting area. Even though heavily treed we were able to get satellite reception. Very friendly and helpful camphosts. Bathrooms are immaculate. Convenient to many scenic drives in area. Would be a 10 if there were sewer hookups. We would definitely return. We camped at One Mile in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great campground. The sites are huge and there is no one behind you. The vault toilets are the cleanest I have ever seen. The host even remembered my name when I checked in. The nearest dump site is Tall Texan in Gunnison. While in Gunnison be sure and check out the Gunnison Museum on HWY 50 across from McDonalds. Be sure to gas up in Gunnison because there are no gas stations near the campground. The campground is one paved lane, 2-way traffic with turnaround loops at each end. This was no problem. If you are using GPS to locate the campground be advised that your GPS may try and send you up One Mile Rd which is next to the campground but you can't get in that way. It is gravel one lane and goes straight up a mountain so don't turn there. The campground entrance is about 500 feet past it, paved, and well marked. There is some minor road noise since the campground is about 250 feet above the road. The river is on the other side of the road and drowns out most of the highway sounds. Be sure and make reservations as this campground is full most weekdays and every weekend. We camped at One Mile in a Travel Trailer.

The book "Colorado Campgrounds - 100 best and all the rest" rates this as the 32nd best in the state. It calls it an "RV paradise." If you are looking for an RV "resort," this is not it. But if you want a good campground with level shaded sites, clean restrooms, and quiet days and nights, this a a great one! All sites have 30 amp service (note that the NFS listing shows 15 amp only) and most were long and level. A gray water dump is listed but has been closed. Since it is built on the side of the hill overlooking the Taylor River, most sites have steps up or down leading to the picnic tables. Most of the sites have a lantern post as well. Water faucets (for filling only) are numerous. Restrooms are kept very clean and have nice touches from the hosts - flowers, magazines, etc. Restrooms are listed as pit/vault but are some type of composting toilet - there was a constant motor noise coming from the restroom. The campground was quiet during the day as most people went off to fish the river or the nearby Taylor Reservoir. It was quiet at night. The only reason I didn't rate it a 10 was that the road is just below the campground and there is a reasonable amount of traffic during the day and evening. Granted we were there over Labor Day so that could contribute to the additional traffic. This campground closed the day after Labor Day for some upgrades, supposedly the addition of 50 amp service. They also have to rebuild a fence that a bear tore down trying to get to the dumpster! We are already planning a trip for next year. this campground fills up all summer so make reservations early. A few sites are non-reservable, but they are filled early. This campground is near Crested Butte, Gunnison, and Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. We camped at One Mile in a Travel Trailer.
