The setting of this campground is very remote. There is WiFi available but the connection is sporadic. There isn't cell phone service in the immediate area. The Conejos river is right behind it with easy access. All of the sites have picnic tables and sewer attachments and a few have trees. There is a large fire ring and a covered area with several picnic tables and a charcoal grill that you can use for a group gathering. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Antonito is only 12 miles away with a grocery store and dispensary. There are several walking trails nearby. We drove to the Red Lake trail which is about 6 miles away and it was awesome! It's a 10 mile loop with breathtaking views and a lake for camping. The altitude was about 11,000 feet.

The park hosts and owners are very friendly and helpful. The laundry is spotless, and all the machines work!! The bathrooms and showers are also kept very very clean. The common area, living room is very comfortable. Our site was roomy. There is a playground , pavllion for groups and it's only a short walk to the beautiful Conejos River. We spent lots of time outdoors and the weather and scenery is awesome. We will be back for sure!! I recommend for short or long stays. I felt at home! We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is so much to see and do in the area. Short drives to Alamosa and Taos. The road (Hwy 17) to Chama is gorgeous. Drive up to the reservoir at Platoro. Great fly fishing and hiking. All sorts of entertainment in the area. The San Juan Valley is beautiful, we took lots of drives.

$30 The rate is for a 30 amp site on the west side of the park. This park is about 13 miles east of Antonito, just west of the beginning of National Forest Service land. It is along the Conejo River but none of the short-term sites are actually on the river. It is a good location for visiting the area. It is pretty basic with gravel sites, some not level. The sites on the east side of the campground have 50 amps and are a little more expensive. Those on the west have only 30 amp. The utilities all worked well. We did not use the restrooms, but did use the laundry. It was reasonable at $1.50 for wash and for dry. However, you do need to bring your own quarters as, for some reason, they are not able to provide them. Our Verizon cells did not have any signal. Due to the lack of cell service, they do allow the use of their office phone for short calls. They have WiFi but is was very, very slow. The management and everyone we talked with in the campground were nice and accommodating. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The big attraction in Antonito is the Cumbres & Tolec Scenic Railroad that runs between Antonito and Chama. It is a trip well worth doing. Set on the South side of the train for the best views. Antonito has a few restaurants and a well-stocked local grocery store.

What they lacked in extra amenities they made up in helpfulness and absolute friendliness. They treated you like family. Their laundry was clean and nice. There was no cable, but you could pick up a few stations on antenna. Cell service was spotty. A great place to unwind in between destinations. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Motorhome.

We arrived with the intention of staying for two days and left nine days later. The owners where great people and every helpful in things to do and places to go in the area. The park is very clean and all sites are level. Beautiful scenery in all directions. Very clean laundry room. Would have rated park a 10 except there is no cell phone service. The park is surrouned by mountains, so you have to go down the road a couple of miles to use your cell phone or you can use the parks land line. We would stay here again if ever in the area. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Motorhome.

To visit old friends who have a cabin nearby, this was our convenient choice. It turned out great. Standard gravel site with a nice amount of trees spread throughout the grounds. You are in the mountains and this is not a resort and I am glad it is not referred to as that. The owners have a great story to share of becoming involved in owning this fresh air campground 15 years ago. They still care much for it and that shows. It made for a very comfortable two nights. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Find a way, (Jeep, ATV...) to get to some of the high country just west of the campground. Spectacular views of the San Luis Valley and The Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the east.

If you like a lot of beautiful scenery, critters, and solitude this is the place to be. Awesome side trips into the mountains and forests in one of the prettiest parts of Colorado. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Lots of birds within the campground.

Yes, you cannot talk on your mobile phone, but you can text. When we stayed there, the internet was adequate. Yes, you have to drive a few miles for groceries in Antonito, but they have a decent selection.

We will be back to see the Aspen turn this Fall. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for two nights so we could ride the steam engine from Antonito to Chama, NM. The sites and roads are gravel but the sites are level. We had good internet but NO phone service or TV in this area. We needed to call home due to an emergency and the owners were very nice in allowing us to use their business phone. Our RV Club went to this camp ground for a long weekend gathering. It was pretty good. They were very helpful & accommodating until there was a misunderstanding about conflicting information we'd been given.

It was clean, the site was fairly level. Not a lot of trees.

I don't recall what the Good Sam rate was that we paid. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Motorhome.

A very pleasant campground out in the country. There is a fishing stream near by with catch and release trout fishing, but we can't comment on the fishing, as we do not fish. The drive-through site was level and all the hook-ups work well. The campground is about 6 miles from Antonito, where there is one end of the Chalma narrow gauge railroad. The rate above is that of PP America. We will try to come back again for an extended stay to explore the area, and get in a little hiking and 4-wheeling. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Motorhome.

A very nice, quiet park with river access for fishing. Our site was pretty level with picnic table. Hardly any road noise, which was up above us. Very friendly owners and people who own lots. We had a pot luck dinner over Labor Day weekend. We definitely will be back. Rate posted is based on weekly rate and discount for extra days. We did have to use our satellite. One of the most pleasant parks that we have ever stayed at. The owner was just wonderful. It is rare to find such warm, helpful owners. We spent a week there over Labor Day. The spaces are large, giving you plenty of room to totally relax. Nice laundry facilities. Location was terrific. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a week after being evacuated from South Fork, because of the fires. This park is in the middle of no where and was very dusty and VERY windy. There is a river within walking distance where you can fish. Our Wi-Fi worked well. We were in the first spot by the office. There is NO cell service. We had to get in the car and drive several miles down the road to be able to make a call (very inconvenient). I think $200.00 for a week is expensive for what we got. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

What a wonderful park. We have stayed at least a month the past three years and always hate to leave. The people that run the park are super friendly and helped direct us numerous times to places and things to do. They are right across the street from a great fly shop, very convenient for us. The view is gorgeous as we are sitting in a valley with mountains surrounding us and the Conejos River is only a short walk. You will not want to miss this view and the people there. We are going to be there in July for a month or more. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is a great location and some sites are pull through and easy to access. This is not a good place for a family to stay especially one with kids or grand kids. If you plan on staying here anyway just make sure you mingle with the other campers and the owners or you will be treated very unkind and this could be traumatic. We camped at Conejos River Campground in a Motorhome.
