The RV sites are great. Roomy with well functioning utilities. Very easy in/out. Paved roads. Good Wifi throughout the park. Restrooms were very dirty and nasty. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Cherry Creek State Park offers a great combination of location, price, hookups, and site-size! The location is convenient, with the entrance to the park less than a mile from I-225, and plenty of stores, restaurants, theaters, etc. nearby since the park is in the middle of the suburbs. Our site in Pioneer Loop had some background traffic noise from Parker Rd but it wasn't too noticeable. The sites were plenty wide and spacious, but they don't provide much privacy since it's mostly grass between sites, and only a few trees. Most sites are "C-shaped" pull-throughs on the side of the road, but we picked a back-in which we prefer for extra privacy. Some sites looked a little un-level but ours (#47) was fine. The park is huge, with plenty of places to walk or bike, as well as a swim beach with a section our dog enjoyed visiting often. The other end of the state park has a 107-acre fenced dog park with a nice river (Cherry Creek) running right through it, which we frequented as well (it's $2/day to enter the dog park, or buy an annual pass for $20). AT&T and Verizon were both fast, plus the park has free WiFi that worked pretty well except during the busiest times (evenings and weekends). Probably our only complaint is that the park roads to get to the campground are in pretty poor condition, very bumpy and patched multiple times. Since it's a 6-8 minute drive to the camp sites once you enter the park, you're on these roads a lot. $30 for full hookups, large sites, WiFi, and a beautiful nature setting just a couple miles from "civilization" made for a great experience, and we'll definitely return! Worth noting, we stayed for 14 days, but had to make our reservation months in advance for that to be possible. The park was full almost every day. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed our time there very much. After having been packed in at Garden of the Gods in Colo Springs, we had a spacious site. We could barely see our neighbors on either side. We had wildlife like squirrels, rabbits, magpies, and several deer wander through our site. The trail system is outstanding for walking and biking. The Reservoir is very nice, although we didn't boat or swim during our stay.

We weren't sure if we would like this park when we pulled in, but we would highly recommend this as a base of visitation during a stay in the Denver area. We were able to visit Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park, and even Breckinridge. Some of those places took some driving, but they made for great day trips.

The park is quiet, at least post Labor Day and the loop design keeps it from feeling crowded. Give this one a try if you have any interest in the Denver area. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, CO. For sure visit Rocky Mountain National Park. If you have only one day like we did, get there early and see Bear Lake and Sprague Lake, then drive the Old Falls River Road to the Alpine Visitor Center. From Alpine you can drive to the Continental Divide, turn back and take Trail Ridge Road back to Estes Park. There are LOTS of pull offs and even hikes along the way if you want to take the time to stretch the legs a bit.

Booked this site 6 months in advance: #14, backed up to woods. Lots of privacy but terrible mosquitos! They don't spray either. Its the woods! Won't park in woods again in this season! Got bit quite a bit. Bought a screen tent which helped. Got many TV channels here even in shade trees surround trailer.

Had great ranger program one night, with wild wolf, deer roaming 10 ft from trailers every day with twin fawns. Beautiful.

Overall swim beach is great: picnic areas all over beach with grills. Lots of trails for the grandkids and I could go on. My scooter ran great on trails.

There is no playground in the camping area, really need to build one for all the children who camp here.

Have to cross a busy road in the park to get to the swim beach where the playground is. Laundry is where the showers are, handy. Was a quiet area, busy traffic outside park. No fires allowed. WiFi is spotty.

We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice State Park located in an otherwise urban area. The park is large with lots to do. Campground itself appears to be very well run. Lots of camp hosts going about keeping the place clean and orderly. Our paved site was absolutely level. All utilities worked very well with the exception of the WiFi. Once again we have an overburdened public network where the signal strength is adequate but the throughput is deplorable. I used my Verizon phone hotspot. We stayed here for three nights visiting family in the area. We would stay here again. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cherry Creek SP is inside the metro area southeast of Denver. We stayed here because it's the closest to the house we're moving out of as we prepare to become full-timers. Most of the sites are loops, so they're very easy to get our big rig into and out of. We stayed in the Pioneer loop three separate times (weekends were full far in advance, so we had to move out then).

You can stay 14 days out of 45, and with a $9 per day entrance fee in addition to the site fee, a $70 annual pass can be a good idea if you're staying more than a week. It's good for entrance to all the CO State Parks for a year. Reservations are through ReserveAmerica, and if you think there's no room try modifying your search for a single day, then hit the tab for Date Range Availability. You may be able to stay longer if you are willing to switch sites. There may also be walk-ins from cancellations, since the reservation system requires a 3-day lead time.

The sites are very clean, and while the restrooms could use a bit of extra attention, it IS a state park so you have to expect some dirt and sand. Tent camping is popular in a central area with lots of trees, grass, and shade, although you can stay in any site with your tent. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

So many things to do - very close to Denver with easy access to everything. The park itself has miles of paved bike trails that connect with other trails throughout the metro area, multiple boat launch areas, picnic grounds, and swim beaches. There's a transit station within a mile of the park entrance so you can take the bus or rail easily into Denver. Close to I-225 and I-25, there are three malls and an IKEA within a dozen miles, and many eating establishments within a 5-mile radius.

You can't find a park that is better designed anywhere than this one. It's convenient to Denver, Red Rock, Golden and Boulder. Every site is a pull-thru about 80' long. Hookups are in the center. We have a 34' fifth wheel and a full size, extra long bed Dodge Ram. We unhooked and parked the truck behind and in front of our rig with enough room left over for a visitor to park their car. Each site perfectly level and is concrete. They are spacious about 100'+ between sites with well spaced Cottonwood trees and grass. No problems for satellite users. Nice large steel mesh picnic table. Clean laundry, restroom and vending machines. There are 40 miles of paved bike trails thru Cherry Creek State Park! You'll see deer and maybe if you are lucky a wild turkey. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a gorgeous park just outside the hustle bustle of Denver. Beautiful reservoir with swimming, boating and miles of bike paths. Lots of birds and wildlife too. Highly recommended, but plan ahead, especially in the summer months. Must reserve in advance. Most RV spots are well groomed and have lots of space and privacy in between sites. We had plenty of room for our 34 foot RV in the Pioneer and then Coyote Loops. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here in the past and everything is nice and it is a State Park with full hookups. The only thing that was of concern was that they had not mowed the grass in quite some time. The rest of the park is very well maintained. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Always a favorite! We spent Memorial Day weekend with two other families in Abilene sites #007, #008 (ours) and #009. Absolute great location! Long pull-through sites with enough extra to park you boat. Utilities worked great!

We come here at least twice a year and always have had a great time!

The main draw for the park is the reservoir and the water conditions were good for the busy weekend. A LOT of people on the beaches! The only complaint we had was a very large group set up on the beach next to us with loud amplified music. We just packed up our stuff in the boat and headed to a secluded spot farther up the beach! Lots of beach to choose from! We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

What a treasure! We were fortunate to find a basic site (no hookups) since we were without reservations due to an emergency. Sites were clean; park hosts were diligent about making sure that each site was cleaned after use. There is sufficient room between sites. The park staff was friendly and helpful. Make a reservation and arrive before rush hour traffic since the park is located in a busy area. In spite of this, the park was quiet and enjoyable. We will definitely stay here again. Price includes a $9 day pass. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a jewel in the Denver area. The sites are easy to get into and well maintained. There is a "campground host" for every loop of about 20 sites per loop. When someone leaves, the host almost immediately services the site in preparation for the next occupant. Most sites are satellite friendly and there are dozens of over-the-air stations from nearby Denver. There is much to do inside the park centered around the lake. They have miles of hiking and biking paths. While traffic in the Denver area has become a major problem, there is a train/bus station located which can be reached by car, bike or walking. The wi-fi can be a bit iffy at times. In addition to the campground fee you must also purchase a daily park pass for $9 or an annual pass (good at all state parks) for $65. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Price includes $10 transaction fee for online booking plus $9 per night park fee which is paid at the gate. They accept credit cards. If you plan to stay at other CO state parks, you might consider buying an annual pass instead.

Cherry Creek is a lovely park with tons of things to do. The sites are large with lots of separation between them. We wished we could have stayed longer. It's definitely one of our all-time favorite campgrounds! Apparently we're not the only ones who love it. The park is popular - especially on weekends - so try to book early.

Verizon cell and Sprint Mifi and DirecTV all worked perfectly. We did not use the park's wifi system.

Depending on which site you're in, you will hear noise from Parker Road but we didn't find it bothersome. You're more likely to notice it during rush hour periods or if there are sirens. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a LOT of traffic in Denver. Give yourself plenty of time to get around. Red Rocks Amphitheater during the day is beautiful. If you splurge for an evening concert, wear appropriate shoes for walking and bring clothes for changing weather and rain. The city of Golden is very cute. The Coors Tour is FREE including THREE free glasses of beer! Parking for Rockies baseball is crazy expensive ($40). Research public transportation or perhaps drive part way and Uber in.

camped in Coyote loop 32, no shade. that would be a problem during the summer. Nice concrete pads with full hookups. Wifi did not reach our campsite. great wifi at restrooms and office and at other areas in the campground but not at our site; could be a problem at other sites in the coyote loop. Might want to choose the Pioneer loop for better wifi. Sites with no services available for $20 in Cottonwood Grove. lots of tent campers in this area. Restrooms clean, well maintained CG.
