You do need a Colorado State Park Pass or a $9 per vehicle per day fee in addition to camping fee of $18 for dry camping or $28 for FHU. Sewer connection is towards the rear of the pad so you may need an extension for your sewer hose. Good Verizon cell and data, campground wi-fi worked adequately on weekdays and was marginal on the weekend, granted the amount of people is way less than during the regular camping season. Lots of mule deer, turkeys, magpies and coyote's reside here especially in the campground!

Reservations are a must except for the winter months Nov - Mar. One FHU loop is for reservations only, one FHU loop is for walk-ups with a 14 day maximum. and one loop is dry camping only. Campsites are not sold or available until noon each day, so you can put your name on a list when office opens to be first come first serve at noon to get an available spot. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Have stayed here numerous times over the past 4 years; generally in the spring and rated a 9. Trip this time is for a pre-thanksgiving visit with family. This trip, the park has changed dramatically! Many very, very old RV's; some "home-made" rv's; multiple tents/occupants in several sites; some campers storing belongings around/under rv's as if "permanent"; 4 sites had laundry hanging outside; unattended dogs outside in pens at 3 sites; observed multiple dog "poops" with "no-scoop". Did not see any SP patrols as previously. Common areas not maintained as before. Maybe it's the "Fall" season changeover waiting on "Spring"; I don't know, but it's sad. Don't know if would stay here again, but there's not many other choices for campgrounds in the area. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We did not stay overnight although we had paid for two nights. There was a site with several tents and quite a few people staying in it in the Cottonwood Loop. After we parked at our campsite north of this site, we walked around and noticed human feces, trash and a horrible smell coming from the campground. We had some lunch, then an altercation broke out and several of the people moved to another campsite opposite ours. We left. Very unpleasant experience. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Huge sites, very spacious. We unfortunately had no satellite reception due to a tree blocking the signal. Most sites did not have this problem. OTA reception was good. Long ride from the main road. Took about 10 minutes to get into or out of the park. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You will need to get a day pass ($9) in addition to the the RV camping fee. The other option ,which we chose, is to get the CO parks pass ($73 for non CO residents and good for one year).

CO state parks are awesome, and this is no exception. Very convenient for visiting Denver sights. CC has a 120 acre off leash dog park as well as over a hundred miles of hiking/biking trails. Cherry Creek Trail connects to other regional bike trails making the whole region accessible by bike. Sights are spacious, level and uber clean. Price stated doesn't include $9 daily park fee. Make reservations far in advance for summers and weekends. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

If you don't make a reservation months in advance, good luck getting in. I came in October to stay a week for my husband's surgery and had to do their dance to get a site each day: you line up before the camper registration office opens to get your spot on the waiting list. Then you return at Noon to hear if any cancelations came up. If you don't follow this system, you are not going to get any site. If you are so lucky to get a spot, the campground is nice with space between neighbors - no one is next to you because they are all pull-throughs. My favorite sites are any of the back-in sites like in Coyote Loop since you back into the trees/bushes/privacy. The rangers and camphosts were very helpful in answering any questions. The camper services building was clean and it was nice doing laundry here in the park. Wash for $1.75 and dry for $1.25. We were shocked to see so much wildlife hanging around the campground: deer, turkeys, & coyotes. The $28 FHU price does not include the daily parks pass for $9. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cherry Creek State Park offers a great combination of location, price, hookups, and site-size! The location is convenient, with the entrance to the park less than a mile from I-225, and plenty of stores, restaurants, theaters, etc. nearby since the park is in the middle of the suburbs. Our site in Pioneer Loop had some background traffic noise from Parker Rd but it wasn't too noticeable. The sites were plenty wide and spacious, but they don't provide much privacy since it's mostly grass between sites, and only a few trees. Most sites are "C-shaped" pull-throughs on the side of the road, but we picked a back-in which we prefer for extra privacy. Some sites looked a little un-level but ours (#47) was fine. The park is huge, with plenty of places to walk or bike, as well as a swim beach with a section our dog enjoyed visiting often. The other end of the state park has a 107-acre fenced dog park with a nice river (Cherry Creek) running right through it, which we frequented as well (it's $2/day to enter the dog park, or buy an annual pass for $20). AT&T and Verizon were both fast, plus the park has free WiFi that worked pretty well except during the busiest times (evenings and weekends). Probably our only complaint is that the park roads to get to the campground are in pretty poor condition, very bumpy and patched multiple times. Since it's a 6-8 minute drive to the camp sites once you enter the park, you're on these roads a lot. $30 for full hookups, large sites, WiFi, and a beautiful nature setting just a couple miles from "civilization" made for a great experience, and we'll definitely return! Worth noting, we stayed for 14 days, but had to make our reservation months in advance for that to be possible. The park was full almost every day. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed our time there very much. After having been packed in at Garden of the Gods in Colo Springs, we had a spacious site. We could barely see our neighbors on either side. We had wildlife like squirrels, rabbits, magpies, and several deer wander through our site. The trail system is outstanding for walking and biking. The Reservoir is very nice, although we didn't boat or swim during our stay.

We weren't sure if we would like this park when we pulled in, but we would highly recommend this as a base of visitation during a stay in the Denver area. We were able to visit Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park, and even Breckinridge. Some of those places took some driving, but they made for great day trips.

The park is quiet, at least post Labor Day and the loop design keeps it from feeling crowded. Give this one a try if you have any interest in the Denver area. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, CO. For sure visit Rocky Mountain National Park. If you have only one day like we did, get there early and see Bear Lake and Sprague Lake, then drive the Old Falls River Road to the Alpine Visitor Center. From Alpine you can drive to the Continental Divide, turn back and take Trail Ridge Road back to Estes Park. There are LOTS of pull offs and even hikes along the way if you want to take the time to stretch the legs a bit.

A very nice state park - quiet, spacious, with sites ranging from tent sites to full hookups. Utilities all worked well with good WiFi. No cable but got 20 channels on batwing. Nice walking trails and beaches on the lake. Roads are paved and sites have concrete pads. Very clean bathroom/shower/laundry facilities but bathrooms have no soap (who ever heard of bathrooms not stocked with soap) so bring your own. Showers are pay ($1 for 6 minutes). My only gripe is the extra fees. Camping is $30 but then there's a $9 entrance fee and $10 reservation fee plus pay showers. And you better make a reservation well ahead of time. We were there on a Tuesday and it was full. Denver area traffic is terrible all day so be prepared for that. There is an easy gas station about 1 block past the park entrance in the large shopping center. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are heading east on I76 toward I80/Nebraska - when you leave take I225 north to I70 east to E-470 north. E-470 shows as a toll road but it's not if you are going straight through to I76.

We can't say enough about this state park. The sites are very spacious with adequate shade on each. Great staff. Loved watching the deer and turkeys walking around between the sites. Park has a huge lake and numerous fishing spots. Wifi worked surprisingly well (we use an extender). Very close to shopping and facilities although you would never know it from inside. Extremely well maintained. Stayed for a week and would definitely stay here again. The rate quoted above included the required parking pass ($9 per day). Park is always pretty booked so it is advised to reserve well in advance. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a typical Colorado State Park campsite from what I have observed: Spacious, well-spaced sites, clean bathrooms/showers and a well organized campground.

Cherry Creek has wifi and we received the strongest signal and fastest internet of ANY campground that we have ever stayed.

This campground is surrounded by cities and highways so plan accordingly. I would not consider it a destination because of this but it is nice if you are passing through! We have stayed at Cherry Creek on multiple occasions during cross-country trips and will stay here again in the future! We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Booked this site 6 months in advance: #14, backed up to woods. Lots of privacy but terrible mosquitos! They don't spray either. Its the woods! Won't park in woods again in this season! Got bit quite a bit. Bought a screen tent which helped. Got many TV channels here even in shade trees surround trailer.

Had great ranger program one night, with wild wolf, deer roaming 10 ft from trailers every day with twin fawns. Beautiful.

Overall swim beach is great: picnic areas all over beach with grills. Lots of trails for the grandkids and I could go on. My scooter ran great on trails.

There is no playground in the camping area, really need to build one for all the children who camp here.

Have to cross a busy road in the park to get to the swim beach where the playground is. Laundry is where the showers are, handy. Was a quiet area, busy traffic outside park. No fires allowed. WiFi is spotty.

We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice State Park located in an otherwise urban area. The park is large with lots to do. Campground itself appears to be very well run. Lots of camp hosts going about keeping the place clean and orderly. Our paved site was absolutely level. All utilities worked very well with the exception of the WiFi. Once again we have an overburdened public network where the signal strength is adequate but the throughput is deplorable. I used my Verizon phone hotspot. We stayed here for three nights visiting family in the area. We would stay here again. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.
