Colorado has some of the nicest state parks in the country and Cherry Creek is no exception. Beautiful campground with spacious sites. Some shade and some open. Easy access for Big Rigs. Beginning in June the campground is busy all summer. We were lucky to snag four nights mid week at the last minute. Unless you book months in advance it is nearly impossible to get a site here or in some of the other state parks on weekends. Midweek is easier. Excellent facilities and great walking and bike trails. WiFi not strong but Verizon signals were good. Only about 10 miles from downtown Denver. Will stay here again. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful state park, with paved roads and concrete pads for parking. Each site is quite a distance from the next site, which is wonderful, and each has a gravel patio with a picnic table. It is primarily a destination park for local people who come for the swimming beach and boating. Reservations can be made six months in advance and local people book up many of the summer weekends. We had to move sites three times in order to stay a week. The campground is very quiet during the day. We were in the Gold Rush Loop, which has less shade than the other loops but where most sites accommodate satellites. On Friday and Saturday night there was annoying music from a nearby club but otherwise the park was quiet at night. There is good access from I-225, but traffic in the Denver area is horrific. The train station is nearby but is only good for going to the city center. Otherwise you need to make a connection at the city center and go out to other destinations, which is quite time consuming. Excellent for bicycle riding. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this campground while in town for a family reunion. It was convenient for our purposes. Sites were large and shaded. Grass needed mowing. There was a $10 fee for reserving online and a $9 daily access fee for entering the park, making this a pricey stay. Also, the lines entering the park on the weekends are very, very long, so if you leave to do anything outside the park, it takes a long time to get back to your site. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a great site, lots of space. It was quiet and we love Cherry Creek. There are lots of trails for walking, and the lake provides swimming, boating, and fishing for those who want those activities.

Our only complaints were the dead trees that should have been cut down and removed and the terrible roads. It takes money to repave the roads, but they have plenty of staff to cut down the trees. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Most sites are level and long. Many pull-thru sites. Utilities worked well. We were in the Buffalo loop and the WiFi was fine. Slow at times but pretty good most of the time (note you may need to reenter your password each time your computer goes to sleep). We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Made reservation on line, then when entering the park we were hit with an extra $9/day for the car we were towing.

It is like camping in a prairie because they do not mow the open areas. However, the site was paved, level, with very nice fine gravel patio. Internet service is non-existent except near the office. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

As far as a Western state park goes this one is exceptional. No, you don't back up to a beautiful lake or mountain vista. But trees can be pretty hard to come by in Colorado and camp sites can be bunched on top of one another. This is the refreshing exception and the reason why Cherry Creek State Park is so highly rated. My wife and I live a grand total of fifteen minutes from this campground, and although the park is right on a major state highway, you'd never know it once you're settled in to your site. We stayed on the Coyote Loop which is one of the best as you back in to a berm surrounded by trees and would never know that you're in a major metropolitan area. Bring your bicycles as there are extensive bike trails throughout the park. (This is Colorado, you know, where the old joke really is true that the bike on top of the car is worth more than the car itself.) Bring your pistols and long rifles as there is an excellent shooting range in the park. There's a wonderful marina located close by, also inside the park. There is a well-maintained horse stable in the park, so dedicate one afternoon for a trail ride. Bring your dogs: there's an extensive off-leash "run 'em ragged" section as well. The wi-fi is marginal, and at times will go down completely, but hey! This is a government facility. What do you expect? For many a Denver-area resident this is an opportunity to "get away" while still being literally only minutes from home. For out-of-towners this is how you can be in the midst of metropolitan Denver and still have a campground retreat. The sites are level and uniformly well maintained. We have friends locally who come to Cherry Creek every year and wouldn't miss it. We love this park. There's a good reason why you have to reserve your sight well in advance. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Truck Camper.

This is one of the best campgrounds we've stayed. The location was amazing; just five minutes from the city but felt like you were in the wilderness. The park was immaculate with paved roads throughout including the campsite. Our site was large, flat, fully serviced with amazing Wi-Fi. We stayed in site 16HA Abilene Loop. Although the campground was completely full it was quite peaceful. We would definitely go back. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great state park, especially for big rigs! Easy access from the interstate, and well-marked. Wide roads, long pull-through sites with paving and concrete slabs. Full hookups. Wonderful bike trails, and great views of the city and the mountains! Deer wandering through in the early morning and evening hours. We were in the Buffalo Loop, site 142. Very nice campground hosts. we would definitely stay here again. The daily rate includes a $9/day vehicle charge (they give you a free pass for the toad). We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Easy access from interstate and city roads. A great place to camp near Denver. Although not a 'resort' since no pool or clubhouse or organized activities but we like it that way when traveling. Paved roads and sites, nice utility hookups, great line of sight for satellite dish in the Gold Rush Loop. We would stay here again. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Eat at Sam's No 3, great food.

Rate reflects additional daily park entrance fee for RV. (We were not aware of this when we booked.) Full hookup site was level, dish worked well. You can also pick up local TV with your antenna. It is very convenient to downtown Denver. Deer wandered through campground, and were not frightened by campers. Great place to stay with families. Would stay here again. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Fee includes $9 daily park pass. Excellent campground with paved, level, roomy sites. Very clean, well maintained. We stayed in Abilene loop. Good Wi-Fi. Beach is within walking distance. One of the best systems of trails for walking, running, or biking. We will be back. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We generally stay at Cherry Creek whenever we visit the Denver area. It is a wonderful state park given the urban location. Lots of space (sites and the overall park) and extremely well maintained. Years ago we stayed at different private RV parks in the area and there is simply no comparison for our needs and preferences. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Not sure if I can say enough good about this park. Huge sites, level pads, good water pressure, and lots of hiking or biking trails. The work campers do an excellent job at keeping everything looking nice. Check in was easy. The only reason for not being a 10 is the fee for the park pass you have to purchase. They do give you a free pass for the toad but you have to purchase one for the motorhome. We will stay here again but you have to book months in advance due to all the local traffic staying there. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Again, always a favorite place to camp! This was our first outing of the year and the weather was a little iffy, oh well. We stayed in the Abeline loop (our favorite) in site #010. Water pressure was a bit low this time, but a new backflow/regulator fixed that thanks to the camp hosts! Our two labrador retrievers love exploring this place as it is very dog friendly. (There is an off-leash park no too far away). Swim beach not open yet, but the lake was open to boating.(Too cold for us and our jetski!) Can't say more than has already been said, great place! We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.
