We are new to CO from MN, and this was our first stay in a CO state park campground. We're fans! The sites were huge and many (including ours) had a nice retaining wall area that was packed sand and housed the picnic table and fire pit. The utilities all worked well and the rangers and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Sites were immaculate, as were the general grounds and bathroom/shower facilities. Though we didn't use one, I was especially impressed with the group sites. They had multiple power hookups, a kitchen facility with granite countertops and running water, and bathrooms/showers. The one downside to our site (#139) was there there was no shade, but that was just poor choosing on our part as there are many shade sites available. We especially enjoyed the many miles of trails and the close proximity to the lake (less than a 5 minute walk from our site). We've already booked several return trips! We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of the most beautiful parks we've stayed in. It's a gem in the city, really. The sites are HUGE, clean, paved pad, grass, FHU....and we got great tv antennae stations! The workampers do a fabulous job getting every site ready before the customer arrives. The park is huge. Beware that you must also pay a daily pass fee in addition to the nightly camping fee. ($9) We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is on the SE side of the metro Denver area and close to shopping and most anything you'd want. Although traffic in Denver is always a challenge, 225 has been completed since the last time we were here.

We were pleasantly surprised that this bit of paradise can be so close to Denver. The campground was quiet and beautiful with the Rocky Mountains in the back ground and the city skyline between you and the mountains. The sunsets were amazing. The campsite was an awesome pullthru concrete pad. It was extra long so we could have our tow vehicle and trailer all fit into the site with ease. The one downside is that the campground charges you 50 cents for 3 minutes of showers. So bring your quarters with you to the shower. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We've stayed here many times over the years and it is a very good park. I do have a few negative comments this year. The restroom buildings are closed twice a day for cleaning. This makes sense. But the laundry is in one of those buildings and closing it for an hour at 10 am and another hour at 3 pm while people are washing and drying is very inconvenient. Never seen such a thing. There are a large number of dead trees that are ugly and should be removed. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cherry Creek is truly an oasis on the south side of Denver. Campsites are very large and spacious - probably the most space of any campground we've been to. They are arranged in circles around large grass areas with lots of large shade trees. All or most of the full hook-up sites have level, nicely paved pads. Each site has a nice large picnic table and clean fire pit. We didn't use the group sites, but there are 3 large campground circles for medium to large groups of RVs and tents - very nice and private if you're with others. The only negative is the traffic noise. The traffic on Rt 225 is fairly loud in the morning and rush hours. High powered boats on the lake can be very loud too. Although neither of these was a deal breaker. We will definitely come back to Cherry Creek. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

A very nice urban campground. Decent asphalt access roads, a bit tight around the gatehouse for big rigs. Level, paved sites are generally widely spaced surrounded by low vegetation, grass, some trees. Some sites with lots of shade some with none. Level concrete pads, gravel patios, fire pit/barbie, picnic table. Miles of road bike trails within the park connecting to more miles outside the park. Around 1.5m walk to light rail station with frequent service to downtown. Power ok even under heavy load, water ok, sewer ok. Campground wifi good signal with mostly decent speeds. Verizon 2-3 bars with moderate to sluggish speed, TMobile was 4 bars with decent speed. Satellite access is site dependent. No recycle on site. We will stay here again. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

State park fees are on top of camping fees so longer stays are better off getting an annual pass.

The state park is neat and clean, sites are policed after each camper. My only complaint regards the daily pass, don't know why they don't just include it in the cost of camping instead of making it an extra fee at check-in. We enjoyed our two day stay and wished we had made our reservation for a longer stay. They do have sites reserved for walk-ins but the rules are about impossible: you have to put your name on the list at 0800, come back at 1300 to see if you can get a site. If you do get one, it is good for one day and you must do the whole thing all over again the next day, way too much of a hassle. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is an awesome campground. This was our second stay and we love it. It is spacious and quiet. We had a patio and table and fire ring. We love how close this is to Denver proper and yet it is a huge state park with plenty of nature and activities! We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is amazing. The ONLY downsides: if you have a motorhome, you'll need to buy a pass for your motorhome. (The tow vehicle is free for as long as the reservation.) The entry and exit roads need serious repair. That aside, the sites are huge. The sewer was at the back of the pad so make sure you park appropriately if you have a motorhome.

The camphosts were ridiculously friendly and helpful, and the area was great. We took walks every day with our dog and she had a good ol' time. We would stay here again (if we can actually get a reservation!). Our camphosts were amazing. Their friendliness alone would make us want to come back. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

*This review is for the Arapahoe Group Site* This is our second stay at the Arapahoe Group Site, so don't be shocked at the price compared to individual camp sites! We had a great stay with our camping group from work! We had 6 RVs and 2 tents with a total of about 32 people camping. The site is spacious with plenty of room for everybody and their dogs! There are 6 30/50 amp power pedestals for the RVs, with 3 water spigots for shared water use. No individual sewer, but a dump station is nearby. This site has a covered pavilion with a private bathroom and ample sink area for food prep. Hot/cold water and electrical outlets are very handy! A lot of tables are included and a HUGE fire pit! The grounds are a grass/dirt mix, so it can get muddy when it rains. Great access to the reservoir and picnic areas. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate is $30 per night for 50A FHU, but you have to spend $9 per night or buy the $70 per year park pass so for our week stay, that brought the price to near $40. Very pretty state park, as we previously reviewed 4 years ago you are right in the middle of the Denver/Aurora metro area. Park is very busy. They have great spacing between the sites, power and water pressure is good. Wifi is better than when we were here 4 years ago, but as sure they planned it, still only good for checking the headlines and email. There are a lot of walking, biking trails on the park. Most are very busy with multiple traffics. We walked several of the trails, but there were always other people. Plenty of staff presence, friendly hosts who appear to have designated jobs and are working. Seems each site is cleaned between guests and the gravel patio raked. Most people obeying dog leash rules, a few not. Lots of deer in the park and throughout the campground. Hard to get reservations during the season, but we would stay here again. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We really like this park and we like the Goldrush Loop where most of the sites are roadside pull-thrus and the spacing between sites is amazing. We almost didn't need our GPS devices but when we are towing we keep them on in case we get detoured. The interior roads and our parking spot were asphalt and our site was concrete. We were in a backin since we made our reservation late and could only get 5 nights. The hookups were convenient. The park wifi was free but mostly unusable. We had good Verizon cellphone and 4g coverage. There was a good line of sight for our roof mounted satellite dish. We will definitely stay here again and hopefully will have at least 6 months to make reservations. If you try to make last minute reservations you will be surprised how fast it fills up, especially the weekends. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cherry Creek is a lovely State Park with nicely spaced RV sites, a wonderful paved walking/biking path, big lake and lots of trees and green space. It is an interesting park in that the city has grown around it and yet the Park itself is quiet and feels like it is miles from the city although there are places where the rush of traffic is audible but not annoying. It was fun walking my dog on the path each morning. Highly recommended. We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.
