Beautiful park near Vallicito Lake. 8000 ft elevation so it gets cold at night in Sept. Lots of big trees, lots of shade. Back-in spots little hard to manage because they are tight and the trees. Wifi worked fine but no tv unless you rent their Directv box or have your own. About 20 miles/45 minutes into Durango but plenty to do around the lake. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Ride the Durango / Silverton train. We rode the train up and back. Would probably recommend riding the train up and take the bus back.

This park is north of Vallecito Lake. Much cooler up in the mountains and has lots of shade, but the park is far from anything other than the lake. 45 min to Durango. We had a premium site which was right at the front of the property, which was a pull thru and faced a large rock face which was pretty cool! Clean park, lots of kids, activities to do thru the week. We liked to park, but it was quite a way from everything! owners/workers very nice but no doggie park. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Go to Mesa Verde, but not in the summer... we paid to get a tour guide to drive us around and it was well worth it.

We stayed a month and this is one of our all time favorite parks. It is rustic with many trees and rocks and full of natural beauty with a wonderful staff and owners who greet you by name. Many work campers keep the park immaculate. Warning: this is not your typical paved concrete park and if that is what you want, this is not the place. Some of the sites are difficult to get into but that is because of it's abundance of trees. Also, at 8000' the summer weather is perfect. Vallecito Lake is beautiful. We took our two dogs for many walks around the lake. We have already made reservations for next summer. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

When booking, the desk representative stressed how quiet the park was as "quiet" time was 9:00 p.m. However, last night the folks next door "partied" up a storm until midnight. I called the front desk at 10:30 to ask if they would go over and ask the people to keep the noise down but only got voice mail. Wouldn't it be prudent for someone to sweep the park at least by 10:00 p.m. make sure the noise is to an acceptable level? I will not come back here. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Spent 14 nights in a 37 foot motor home. Very shady and level site with plenty of room between sites. Park is kept clean and well maintained. TV was with Direct TV and required a box. We attempted to make the box work with our analog TV but could not. WiFi was very good most of the time. Full hook-up was well placed and worked fine. Enjoyed our stay and would do it again. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

We had a major sewage leak inside our rented motorhome. We called two days prior to our reservation date and asked to cancel due to the sewage inside our motorhome. Blue Spruce campground said no and was not concerned about our problem. This was off season so I am sure they did not rent our site. A letter sent to them with the documentation from the RV dealer about the sewage was ignored. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

What a find! This was a spur of the moment change and we think we were lucky to get a site. Very shaded, pine trees all sides. Level site for our 32' rig. Staff very helpful. Saturday morning pancake breakfast!!! We already have reservations for next August. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

This a gem of a park. Its set in a beautiful pine forest with lots of granite features. The location is really nice as it is close to Vallecito lake but far enough away that you don't have to hear the traffic or have the congestion around it. The roads are gravel and are level. The sites are gravel with a concrete patio. They have a nice hall, office store and pavilion. There are concerts on Saturdays from local players and many events during the week. The workamping crew were very friendly and helpful. There are a few sites that are tight to get into. Check with the office when making a reservation on site details. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We ate dinner at Pura Vida cafe. The food was very good. We also stopped at the Hideaway Grill. The food looked and smelled great. There is also a new marina on Vallecito Lake, Vallecito Marina. As for gasoline, there is only one place in Vallecito that sells gas and its over $4 per gallon.

We found this park to be very beautiful and nice. It is set in a wooded area with many trees. The staff is excellent and area attractions are close by. Durango is 25 miles away and a very pretty drive. We are looking forward to our next trip up here in September 2015. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here for almost 2 weeks. The weekly rate was $26.50 and then $31 a night for additional nights. This is a great RV park. The owners were so nice and accommodating to everyone. Nice clean park with cabins available as well. A small store nearby and several good restaurants. Not far from Durango. A few miles from Vallecito Lake. My husband really enjoyed the fishing there in a kayak we own. Not sure if you can rent them from Marina or not. He caught 3 Kokonee Salmon, an 18" rainbow trout and 5 small mouth bass. I heard the fishing is really good in May as well. A lot of people in the park return year after year and some stay for 3 to 6 months at a time. We were able to ride our bikes on the county road to the entrance to the National Park about a mile down the road. Would definitely recommend this park and we are hoping to return to this park soon. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderful quiet, well kept and friendly campground. Large roomy sites with lots of trees. Full hookups, campfire rings and small patio slab at door side. Activities for all. Beautiful lake short ride away for fishing etc. We loved the atmosphere, and owners are hands on. We will come back again. We stayed here a week in a 40' RV.
