Stayed here overnight. Gravel pull-through site was long enough, but tight from side-to-side. In fact, the tree on Site #8 needed trimmed back. The turn into the site was tight and the tree on the passenger side left scratches. Sites are door-to-door facing. Got situated on the site and they only have one 50 amp per the two sites that are back-to-back and the other RV was plugged in. Went to the office to discuss/complain and they have no other sites available, but offer me a Two-30 amp conversion to a 50 amp plug (which was available on the site post) but charges a $75 refundable fee when the conversion plug is returned. Our reservation was made over 2 weeks ago - it wasn't like we just pulled in. I complained enough that they did not charge the $75 fee. Their men & women's shower/restroom up by the clubhouse was a single unit for each, which was too few for this large of a campground. We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We would have rated this campground higher but a few areas needed improvement, they don't seem to have enough bathrooms for the size of the park, the dump station was too close to camp sites and the Wi-Fi was non-existent from most places in the park (even with multiple antennas). With the dry climate in Colorado you expect the campgrounds to have good roads, there was way too much dust and not enough gravel on the roads. Price point was high and no discounts i.e.. AARP, AAA, Good Sam... We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Motorhome.

We wasn't happy with this campground. 1st off they make you park your camper near the camp yard and then they don't allow mats etc on the grass. We set up a canopy for shade because the picnic tables are not shaded. They mowed the grass on a day we were gone. We came back to our site and our canopy was removed and place in the gravel drive. A storm had just come through so we were lucky they hadn't mowed our area yet. They left a note on my sisters door about having things on the grass. Nothing in the rules about canopys but they tossed it aside anyway. We had been there several days and they had not said anything about it. We would have gladly removed it for them to mow if they had only asked. Our biggest complaint was our view. We had paid for premium sites thinking these would be the best. Instead our beautiful mountain view was totally ruined by a long row of storage rv's. Many that looked like they belonged in a junkyard. The other side of our site faced the dumpster that had no fencing to hide it. Lastly, don't expect great cable service on these sites either. Half the channels never worked. They are like sorry, not our fault. It's the cable company's problem. Really disappointed in this park and wouldn't recommend it unless just need a place to park. Don't waste your money on these premium sites. We never could figure out what sites they claim to be their luxury sites. We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were late and had to stay in their 'Luxury Spot'....truly outstanding. A bit expensive but it had a wooden deck, a gas Bar-BQ and a lovely grass yard with a huge tree. Most lots have nice grass...The park has gravel roads so there is a bit of a dust problem. Some road noise with windows open but the road is not a major road... The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The Office has some basic supplies, like a micro 7-11...It is very close to the Arkansas River but no immediate access. Minimal Wi Fi...Would stay again (at the same expensive site :) ). We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

THIS IS LOCATED IN ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PARTS OF COLORADO, ALONG THE ARKANSAS RIVER. KNOWN AS THE SWITZERLAND OF COLORADO THIS VALLEY IS HOME TO SEVERAL OF THE HIGHEST MOUNTAINS IN THE US (14,400 FT IS THE HIGHTEST). ALSO, THE MT. PRINCETON HOT SPRINGS IS NEAR BY AND IS A 'MUST'. THE PARK IS VERY EASY ACCESS OFF OF THE LITTLE HIGHWAY. NO INTERSTATE NOISE!! Only a couple of miles north of buena vista where there is abundant shopping...

This is a fine park. Long sites, wide enough, and green grass at your site. We had a premium pull thru and were very satisfied. There is some road noise with our site 58. Most sites have firepits - if you want one they will make one for you. The WiFi is so so as well as the cable. Picture was not always clear. You can't have everything. The folks running this park are very friendly and most helpful. We have stayed here before and will stay again. The fishing in the area is outstanding. We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to Hi-Rocky for your fishing needs. They also have a good amount of "Colorado" clothing. This store also sells "radio shack " merchandise.

The "City Market" is very good for your supermarket needs. The nearest WalMart is in Salida.

Park has nice long, long spaces for big rigs. And many tall trees for nice shade. Lanes and sites are gravel with nice size grass areas between sites. Utilities work well. No fenced dog run. Parks WiFi is okay for checking emails. Beautiful mountain vistas all around. This park is older with quite a few permanent trailers and RVs. Folks are friendly but most travelers stay just a couple days. Lots of hiking all over plus river rafting and kayaking. Little town of Buena Vista is charming with numerous shops and cafes. Salida is just 30 minutes away and a much larger town with good Safeway grocery and a WalMart. The City Buena Vista offers a huge wonderful fenced in dog park just above the river. There is also a nice gentle trail along the river to walk your dog and watch folks surfing the rapids in kayaks and paddle boards. Nice way to spend an afternoon.
Unless you are really into mountain biking, hiking and river rafting, there is not a lot to do in the Buena Vista area. We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice drive up to the local Chalk Mountains. Longer drive up to Aspen - very twisty road which at one point becomes only one lane. You would not want to drive this road to Aspen in an RV.

This is a park that has been around many years with many additions during that time. It has been under new ownership for about 3 years. The general condition of the park is falling off under the new owners. Many of the guests who have stayed all summer no longer are returning. The owners are very nice but are very short on follow-through. It is reported they leave the park as much as 2 weeks leaving with no one in charge or able to handle immediate issues. They have multiple workampers on the grounds, but there is no sense of pride in their work. Any issue that comes up the owner must find and figure it out. One workamper has a bad dog where many people walked their dog resulting in some close calls. A small sign was posted, but you are within that dogs attack range when you could read it and your pet is even less.

Some of the park is many years old when sites were commonly designed for two small RVs sharing a pedestal. There is a 50a plug at each site, but it appears the first person at that pedestal gets the 50a service and the next only gets a 30a plug. These sites share a small grass area that might be as little as 9' wide. There is a newer area that has a single pedestal for the guest as well as a large grass area. They have Internet, but it is slow and unreliable. In our case, it kept kicking us off after about 5 minutes. Verizon and ATT phone service is weak, but texting seems to work better although ATT seems to take much longer to send. Their restrooms are clean, but old and small except in the clubhouse where the 2 showers are much larger. The trees have grown, so many guests use portable satellite dishes on the ground. They have elected to discontinue the recycling activity of the past. We would question whether to return if the park continues to become rundown. We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Motorhome.

Please don't stay here. The spots are very close together. Our spot we were assigned was horrible. It faced the overflow parking lot. (which is not represented on the campground map) It was horrible sitting outside your trailer while people were coming and going only feet from where you were sitting. I will not ever stay there again. Also, they have people living in mobile homes within the park. Many of the people in the travel trailers were long term guest because they had storage sheds next to their trailer. We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Like other reviewers, I also had surprises. I had campsite 22, it was far too close to highway 24 and was noisy. There was no place to park my truck near the site, so I parked in the road in front of my site like most everyone else did (ok until some one needs to get their rig in or out of their site). I was also very close to the adjacent site and had to move their picnic table to open my slide. I was upset by the owners running their sprinklers - they turned my site into a mud bog and got our tables and chairs soaking wet. There was also no fire pit. On the plus side, the bathrooms are nice, fairly clean, private bath/shower units - but were in short supply, always seemed there were all in use when I went to use one. Based on this stay, I will probably try a different park next time I'm out this way. We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Made my reservation (and paid for the whole stay in advance) for a premium 50Amp pull through. Surprise #1: When I arrived I had to disconnect to get in the site. Surprise #2: This was a shared pedestal site, so my neighbor was 3 feet away. Surprise #3: There was only one 50Amp receptacle and it was occupied. Owner said 50A is first come, first served but the site using the 50A was a permanent. Owner was willing to sell me a "cheater box" so I could use the two 30 Amps as a 50A (illegal in many states). Owner refused to move me citing "scheduling difficulties". Also had some water pressure issues, and only half the laundry machines worked. We camped at Snowy Peaks RV Park in a Motorhome.

The park is very well kept and maintained well but the laundry needs some attention. Our overall impression was of a friendly, well run, well maintained and clean RV Park. Gravel sites were level. Lots of trees and grass between the sites that was kept green. Good location on the edge of the town with access to many outdoor activities. Nice views. It's hard to beat the weather. Warm days and cool nights. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. There are only four and they are unisex, but I never had a problem. The only drawback is that the sites are a little to close. But overall, a great RV Park.
