Spent 2 months June/July, returned mid-Sept to mid-Oct in our 36'MH. On the river, good wet flyfishing for trout (watch USGS river gage). Great hiking nearby. 26 miles to Salida with active weekends. You will be made to feel like you are Doug and Judy's (owners) best friends for life! We had 2 back-ins (22 & 25), they do have many pull-thrus. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Salida (26 miles West) has Superwalmart and all of the support stores that you could want. Canon City (37 miles East) is a medium size city. White Water Kayaking/Rafting, fishing float trips, USFS 4WD roads nearby, hiking.

I received a warm welcome at this very enjoyable and pleasant campground. The bathrooms, shower, and laundry facilities were spotless. Campground well maintained and with beautiful views. Friendly and super helpful service. Small shop on premises. I especially enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the Arkansas River and watching the bighorn sheep. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Truck Camper.

Staff & other RVers in the park: over the top friendly. Campsites: flat, level, spacious, posts well positioned. Bathrooms/showers: literally the cleanest I have experienced in 23 yrs of RVing. WiFi worked well the entire time we were there (one month), no cable TV but DirectTV is available for rent to monthly RVers; selection of movies for rent for nominal fee at office; LP gas available for purchase; cabins & heated pool (we did not use), no fire rings at campsites however a community fire ring is available & the park supplies the firewood. 30 & 50 amp posts available along with water & sewer. In the middle of Bighorn Sheep Canyon. Thirty minute drive west to Salida. Forty-five minutes east to Canon City. Approximately 90 minutes to CO Springs. Park is located on US Hwy 50, which has constant daytime traffic, however, it did not bother my wife or I while we were there. Will return when staying in Central CO. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Travel Trailer.

I just happened to stumble on this place and it is one of those parks that reminds you just how great RV lifecan be. Incredibly friendly owners, warm and welcoming check in, nicely stocked store, clean & well kept up facilities, right on the river with great fishing access, clean pool, beautiful common areas and the friendliest neighbors around. Yes it is on Hwy 50 so maybe some traffic noise but I couldn't hear it in my trailer. I'd stay here again and again I loved it. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great facility, perhaps the cleanest and best maintained RV park we have ever visited. Great staff, very helpful and accommodating. Full hookups at this price, stay here with complete confidence. And the restroom/showers were absolutely spotless. Great value. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Travel Trailer.

The new owners have done amazing things with this park. Sites are gravel, pull throughs and back ins. Everything is immaculately clean with a lovely pool, good lending library, good wi fi. There is no TV. The park is right on U. S. 50 so there is some road noise. Since wind in Colorado is hard on awnings, the owner has come up with a unique fix. He has placed two big rocks at each site and has drilled into the rock to attach a hasp. When each camper sets up, the owner comes and moves the rocks to fit your awning, and you have a place to anchor your awning safely. Since there is limited shade, this was wonderful. The owners live on site and come around frequently to check on their campers.

Unfortunately, our stay was marred by power problems. Shortly after setting up, we noticed our air conditioner was surging. After checking our meter, we found we were reading 130 and over. The owner quickly came and started checking others around us, which were empty sites. Those sites too were experiencing power surges. The power company came and found a burned wire overhead, but that didn't cure our problem. At times our meter would read less than 110. Since it was a week end, nothing could be done, so we spent two days without air, which was fine at night, but hot in the day. We were thankful for the awning fix that we had. Other than the power problems, which seemed to be only in the 50 amp row, it was a great park. The owner came by frequently to be sure we were ok, and we appreciated that. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This place is pretty much out in the country, but Riverside Cafe is about ten miles away at Howard and has good food. There are no grocery stores close, so stock up before you come.

What a great place! We just bought our trailer this year but have been tent campers for years, so we are relatively new to the "RV Park" scene. That said, we will become regulars of this place. It was so clean and the staff was so friendly and inviting from the moment I walked in to check in to guiding us to our site to the friendly wave as we pulled out. As far as facilities go, I'll reiterate what everyone else has said. The restrooms/shower were immaculate, clean, fresh paint and even cute little flower pots on the windows. The sites were clean and level and freshly raked for each new guest (this may not seem like a big deal but it makes it so inviting and also helps keep them level as ruts are avoided). We didn't use the pool but now that we've been there and seen it we will come prepared to next time as we made reservations for a weekend next month. We also didn't use the laundry as we are just weekenders at this point, but looking through the window it seemed nice enough. The beach area was nice, I tried to fish but the river is in peak runoff so it was moving to fast, we did enjoy sitting on the little deck on the Adirondack chairs; it was very peaceful. There is so much to do around here between the Royal Gorge, to all the activities on the Arkansas River,to the cute little town of Salida only 23 miles away which has a great downtown, a Walmart and grocery stores. It will take us several trips to see and enjoy it all, it's nice to know of a good campground that is centrally located among it all. If I'm going to give it a negative mark (and I know this is splitting hairs), but being an old tent camper I did miss having a fire pit, however I can also understand the reasons why they don't. As far as road noise our bed is in front of the rig so with the AC on it was a non-issue for us, even sitting outside we tuned it out quickly and we were in site 8 next to the road. So in closing; clean, level, immaculate restrooms and owners that truly care. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed over Memorial Day Weekend. The Hosts were absolutely the best. The cleanliness of the bathrooms made a huge impression! (I clean for a living) Actually, the cleanliness of the entire park was commendable.

We can't wait to go back, and we highly recommend this RV Park.

We were close to the highway, but we weren't bothered by the noise. The area by the river is well maintained and it was a great place to sit and enjoy.

There was a church group staying at the camp at the same time, and the hosts made certain we were comfortable. We were invited to the campfire marshmallow roast Saturday night.

It was just a great stay. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Started out with a 10 rating: Deduct 2 for road noise 24/7. Deduct 1 for limited 50 amp site availability. Deduct 1 for poor and intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity. Deduct 1 for lack of grass between sites (mostly weeds and sticker bushes). Overall very friendly host, well kept park, and views of mountains and river. Fishing very poor in river and owners require catch and release along their stretch. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pulled in by chance after leaving another RV park with very unlevel sites. The owners were very nice, let me see all the available site before making the choice of which one I wanted. Very quiet, beautiful setting with meadow/mountain view on one side and the Arkansas river on the other. Pool, propane and a nice store. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Motorhome.

A well maintained park with a friendly and attentive owner on site. Located on the Arkansas River. Only negative is the proximity to the highway giving to traffic noise. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is in a peaceful setting with large meadows across US 50 and the Arkansas River on the other side. Good gravel interior roads and but can be little dusty if wind is blowing the wrong way. Good spacing between sites. You can walk down to the river from several locations and fish or watch the Rocky Mountain Big Horn sheep. The power and water pressure is good when they are not watering. Has are great hosts. We camped at Bighorn Park in a Fifth Wheel.
