One of the nicest RV parks we have ever visited. Very level concrete sites, fire rings on each site along with rubber coated steel picnic tables, full hook ups, tenting area on each site with built in anchor tie downs and extra water outlet to get water outside. Restrooms and showers are fantastic. Trial period for walking trails for dogs in existence. Great views....day time and night of the Colorado Springs area. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Other than hiking, bicycling, etc there isn't a lot to do. No shopping within walking distance....no tourist attractions within walking distance. An abundance of wildlife in the park. Have seen deer, elk, turkey, fox and bear. A fantastic park for those campers who love the outdoors.

Very nice park with great amenities. Only reason we gave it an 8 vs 10 is because there is NO SHADE. Being on an exposed plateau in CO means wind - lots and lots of wind, so take that into consideration during summer with no shade trees. Awnings don't stand a chance. The sites are level but with no trees/minimal trees it is very bare and not private. That said - the view east of the plains is fascinating, especially at night with the city lights. Being fairly close to the Springs allowed us to do a lot of day trips -Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, etc. Lastly, be prepared - you are directly by Fort Carson, prepare to wake up to Reveille at 0630 every morning! We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We really like this park. There are trails and they have very nice sites. Lots are spacious asphalt, featuring a fire ring, picnic table and patio. Make reservations well in advance since this is a poplar local park. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

PROS: Clean, hard surface site with good view. CONS: Unreasonable rules: 1. Extra day use fee should be included with camping cost, not an unreasonable extra fee. 2.Would not reserve a site for us for two nights, even though a site was open. We were allowed to stay there only one night. There is a rule that two sites are not reservable, so we checked out and left the area because they couldn't assure us of a site. There were two sites available, but they would not let US reserve one until 2PM. If someone called on the phone one minute prior to our reservation, we could loose our site. The bureaucracy runneth over. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

This is totally a big rig friendly state park. The reservation system was a little confusing. One of the nicest state park campgrounds we've ever seen. We camped in October mid week and the campground was full every night. Plenty of spaces for a large RV. Beautiful view out the window, one side the valley and the other side, the mountains. Suggest you make a reservation if you can. We would come back!!! We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Park opened in 2000 and has great hookups and buildings.
We loved the back in site #6 at the top tier of camping loops.
Tight turn as you enter the park southbound from 115.
Some of the hiking trails do not have shade and some do-- so staff at visitor center can advise. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is my second stay in this park. Sittings in foothills at the base of Cheyenne Mountain. Spectacular view of south Colorado Springs. Facilities are excellent. Check in can be confusing, but if in doubt buy a daily use pass for $7 at self-serve station then drive on up to camping services building and get it all sorted out there.

This park has beautiful RV sites and also very nice tent sites. Pad was cement and site included patio, picnic table, and fire pit. Firewood available at park.

I won't repeat the many comments about the beauty of the area. I do want to mention that mountainside views can also provide mountainside winds; we experienced 40 to 50 mph gusts one night when nearby stations were reporting 15mph.

To my recollection park is 2200 acres with picnic areas, a group pavilion is available, and plenty of hiking trails. The downside is the number of spaces is limited and this park is in high demand all summer. We stayed in 2 spaces to stay 3 nights. Verizion 4G was fine. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful campground. Each loop was higher than the next with plenty of room between sites. Views of Co Springs are breathtaking. All pads are concrete. Only drawback was low water pressure. Only had about 20lbs of pressure. We just filled our tank and used the pump. Worked quite well. Tough to get a reservation especially on weekends. Best to reserve months ahead. Did not use the showers or laundry but others told us they were very clean. Will always stay here when we return. There is a $7 dollar per day charge for using the park. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Any shopping requires a car. Safeway a few miles away, King Supers another mile or so. Walmart/ Sam's club about 5 miles next to I-25. Close to I-25 so most attractions within 30 to 45 minutes.

One of the nicest parks we have ever stayed at! The park is just below Cheyenne Mountain and many of the sites have a beautiful view of Colorado Springs and/or Fort Carson. We even heard taps and reveille from the fort each day. The sites have a concrete pad as well as a tent pad and a gravel picnic area. All of the utilities are in great shape. Lots of trails within the park. Decent Verizon and ATT signals. They do charge a daily fee along with the camping fee but if you are going to be staying in Colorado State Parks enough to make it worthwhile, you can purchase an annual pass so you don't have to pay the daily fee. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Plenty to do just in Cheyenne Mountain State Park, itself, if you love to hike or mountain bike. The Colorado Springs area has many, many attractions including Pikes Peak, Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, Casinos at Cripple Creek (about 50 miles west). The incline rail is a good way to go to Pike's Peak, but sit on the 3 seat side of the car for best photo opportunities. Manitou Springs, Woodland Park are beautiful.

We loved this state park. We had a beautiful view of Colorado Springs below, and the best part was having a view of all the July 4th fireworks going on around the city during the holiday weekend. Our site was spacious and had some privacy. There are many hiking and biking trails all through the park which were very nice. Verizon 4G coverage there was good. The only reason I knock off any stars for this and every other CO state park is because of the ridiculous $10 reservation fee and the fact that you have to pay the $7/day park entrance fee on top of the campground fee. We travel full-time and this is the only state so far that we have been to that makes you pay an entrance fee in addition to the campground fee. Since we are traveling around Colorado for a couple of months it made sense for us to buy the CO state parks annual pass for $70, but it makes staying at CO state parks a lot more expensive than other states. We are from Florida, and FL state parks do NOT make you pay the entrance fee on top of the campground fee to camp there. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an absolutely first-rate park, that lives up to its high reviews. We stayed three nights in site #10 with full hook-ups. The park is right off CO-115, with easy access north into Colorado Springs and all that it offers.

This park opened in 2006 so all of the facilities are brand new. There are restrooms in the camping loops and then pay showers, a laundromat, and a small store with ice, souvenirs, etc. at the nearby Camper Services Center. There are about a dozen trails all around the park with nice views and excellent chances to see wildlife.

The sites are carved into the side of Cheyenne Mountain which provides views overlooking Colorado Springs and Fort Carson. We had full LTE cell reception and clear skies for the satellite. However, there is no shade at all.

Please note that in addition to the nightly rate, there is a $10 online reservation fee and a $7/day vehicle fee. Reservations well in advance are highly recommended.

This is one of the best parks we've ever stayed at. It is an excellent base camp for exploring Colorado Springs. We would definitely return. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.
