This park has potential, but apparently there is no motivation to improve it. We stayed here in a 43' RV and it was extremely tricky to get it up the hill and into the site. Site was the most rutted, unlevel pad we have ever stayed on. Flooding had occurred here and the "stream bed" running thru the site hadn't been filled in. Many of the campers here were transients with junk on their sites. Water pressure was adequate. The site had new 50 amp. Our Verizon worked fine, the parks WiFi is useless. This park had the only monthly vacancy in the area on short notice, so we had no where else to stay while visiting family. It's a shame they don't improve the park, as the scenery around it is beautiful and quiet. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

My issue with this park is getting into it. You don't have any idea of what the park or your space looks like until after you've paid. Very small parking area for check in, would have been difficult for a second customer to park and come in, we have a 35' fifth wheel. From the office to the spaces is an uphill, double blind driveway. Sharp right and a continuing right. Only wide enough for one way traffic. The park is unpaved and rough. Dirt/Gravel. Electric on wrong side, water distant (used 2 hoses). Employee gave us sewer, we said we didn't need it, she continued saying it was the best space to get into and that it was only $2. Couldn't have reached sewer if we needed to and it was just an open pipe. Can only imagine our difficulty if we had insisted on another space. Right next to storage shed. Price seemed very high for this park but in this area may be consistent. Would not stay here again. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Pikes Peak was a great side trip.

Be aware - I booked online because when I called, they said it was "too busy" over the phone. So I went through the process and reserved. When I got there, the registering person asked if I was aware the the long pull-throughs with full hookups were both 30 and 50 amp? "How so"? Each site shares an electrical pedestal - one 30 and one 50 amp. If someone is using the 50, you have to use the 30! What? Luckily the person I was sharing with had the 30A, I took the 50A. Whew! We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This appears to be an old, not well kept park. It's located on a huge piece of property and has several sites, RV and tent, but with many being unusable. When we arrived, we were given a map to our site and, when we went to plug in, the polarity was reversed. We called the office to have someone come out and look at it. The staff does not maintain the grounds, i.e., tall grass, weeds, etc. We had a significant storm during our stay and many of the sites were flooding. There were also huge ruts because of the wind and rain.

Although the picnic tables are new, they won't last long; very poor quality. We saw a few staff members, but we couldn't figure out how they know when people are leaving; we never saw anyone come by to check on a site. Also, our neighbor took our fire ring, after a staff member moved it to our site, and set it in an area that was not safe for fires. He went into the woods and took several branches, doused them with lighter fluid, and proceeded to create an inferno. Again, no staff to enforce the rules.

They have a new reservation system and our reservation was 'canceled' three times. (I took care of it the first time around, but it was canceled two more times.) They also didn't have a record of our prepayment, so when we checked in, the person in the office tried to charge us again. (This, too, was rectified rather quickly.)

We did not go to the May Museum, which we understand is a huge attraction. I don't particularly care to look at bugs, so it didn't interest me. We did fish in the supposedly stocked pond. No luck. Daily fishing license is $6 per person. If you catch anything, you are supposed to take it to the office for sizing and recording. We weren't sure how that worked if you caught something after the office closed.

Overall, it was an okay park. Somewhat primitive, lots of full-time residents. The best part is that it is very quiet. We won't stay there again. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is pretty far away from downtown Colorado Springs, so if keeping busy is what you want to do, this isn't the park for you. We were there for the Fourth of July and spoke with several guests who stay there for a quick weekend getaway.

We stayed here for 2 weeks out of necessity. We had been here 12 years ago and really enjoyed it. Since then it has deteriorated considerably. Granted it has been a rainy season and the roads are horribly rutted, like going through the park on a roller coaster. The roads are soft, coarse sand, filled with ruts and of course, being in the foothills of the Rockies it is all up and downhill. These things combined makes it for very dangerous footing. The grass, at least since we have been here, has never been mowed and I have never seen anyone addressing the ruts in and along the side of the road. We will be leaving as soon as feasible and not returning. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Owner was super nice. Stayed in site $199 for 3 nights Labor Day weekend. For it being so full, it was amazingly quiet. It's far off Hwy 115, so no road noise. Site required a little leveling, not bad. Great Wi-Fi, the best we've ever had anywhere. Great location, handy to everything. We would definitely stay there again. Beautiful park with trees, lawns and a fishing pond surrounded by hiking trails. Spaces were large with many with trees and shrubs, but not level. Roads within campground are rutted dirt, but passable. Bathrooms were clean, but need an update. WiFi signal dropped pretty often, but my Verizon MiFi worked well. There was some noise from the Army base in the distance- helicopters, gun range, what have you, but not enough to create a disturbance. I would stay here again. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Friendly staff. Dirt roads throughout with a few rough spots here and there. Sites are gravel and hit or miss: many are not very level and in some sections are very close together. The strangest part is the unpredictable hookup locations. For some sites you'll need a long cord and/or hose, and you may share a post with the adjoining site (so too bad if you both need 50 amp). Some fire pits are so close to the roadway to be basically unusable. They did give us a bunch of site options to choose from once we got there, and we eventually found one we liked. This was our alternative campground for the area, and once we got over our initial disappointment, it wasn't bad. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice, large park. Full hookups, no cable. Wi-Fi is fine but park is at 20% capacity right now. Gravel drives, no pads but each site has a picnic table, some shade. Easy access off I-25. Fairly remote from business areas (south of Ft, Carson). May Museum a must see if you are intrigued by extremely large insects. Will be here for almost a week. Superlatives fail me for this park. It has everything going for it. Great people run the place, really friendly and helpful. The location is incredible. Something like 1,000 acres on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains with miles and miles of hiking trails, amazing wildlife, and sunrises are incredible. The May Museum at the office is one of the world's best. This is one of my very favorite places on earth to visit. The scenery, people, wildlife, and campsites are just wonderful. This is a family owned park, and they are wonderful hosts and fantastic people!!! The park is rustic, which is nice and clean, and extremely quiet and "homey"! The location of hookups are odd, but they will be renovating the park this winter while they are closed. They told us they plan to perform many updates in the park. We certainly look forward to returning to see all the improvements and visiting the awesome family! We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

If you are looking to be surrounded by nature and do not have the need for television or internet this is a nice place. The starting rate is affordable, but then they tack on prices for an extra person, using air conditioning and more. They like to charge a lot of extras. We did not attempt television because they told us what to do if we had satellite, so no satellite, no television. They state to have wi-fi, but dial up is faster. I make a living online and my wireless card that is typically slower was faster. They have lots and lots of rules, but do not enforce them. They said you don't need air conditioning, but during the day you do. They say keep your dogs on a leash, but people letting their pets run loose and no one was monitoring them. Oh there is a $1.00 per guest per day if you want company, serious!! I couldn't believe this one at all. Roads are narrow and dirt, the sites are unlevel and you will spend time driving around trying to figure out which site will be the easiest to set up and get level. Other places were booked up or too far away otherwise I probably would not have stayed here. I don't plan on making this the place I stay the next time I am in town for what you pay, I could have stayed at a nicer property and had everything I needed. The staff is nice, but the rest is not worth the money. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice friendly staff. Huge park with many seasonal sites occupied. Dirt roads (no gravel) are rutted badly in places. Electric and water are shared between sites. Extra cord and hose are needed for many sites. Extra charges if you use your A/C or have more than two people. The "fishing lake" is not exactly as advertised either. Park has lots of potential but in bad need of a little maintenance. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is a treasure. With miles of hiking trails, stunning views of the plains to the East and the Rocky Mountains to the North and West it has a lot going for it. There is a small lake they keep stocked with several species of trout. Fishing from a granite rock on the shore of the lake will provide some memorable moments for any family that loves to fish together. The campground is spacious with a lot of sites to choose from. Campfires are permitted and firewood is available at the office. Wildlife abounds in the RV park. Turkeys run through, rabbits, deer and more can be seen as well. The May Museum of Natural History is at the bottom of the hill where the RV office is located. This museum houses one of the world's most comprehensive insect collections. It has to be seen to be believed. The insects are from all over the world and include specimens of some of the world's most stunningly beautiful butterflies. Between the miles of hiking trails, the peace and quiet, the incredible natural history museum and the park's close proximity to Colorado Springs/Pike's peak and more there is much to like. My wife and I will be back for sure. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

We paid for 2 nights but left after staying only one. Office was not yet open when we left and we didn't care about getting a refund. This RV park is listed in Woodall's directory and I certainly wonder why. Extra charge if you use your AC. The RV park's website and their listing states that 4 TV stations can be picked up, but we couldn't get any stations off of our antenna. It is tranquil with lots of trees, but the sites are rutted and un-level, the WIFI is available only at the laundry (and we couldn't get it to connect there)and the road up to the RV park is very narrow and winding. This is a large property that has allot of potential, but clearly needs money put into it. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you. If you need a level site, WIFI and TV, best to stay elsewhere. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
