Beautiful in the Mountains. Owners objective is to keep a balance of nature and comfort. Very helpful staff. (Can't give them enough stars for this) Clean bathrooms and showers. Pretty trails to hike. Small lake to fish. (avid fishermen this is not for you. It's just for kids or fun) Fire rings and picnic tables provided. Everyone there is friendly. The Historic May Insect museum is located here. Minimal charge to see but worth it. Thing to remember here is that you are camping in nature and this isn't a concrete parking. It would ruin the ambience. Yes you are next to an Army base. If you get to hear Revelie or Taps be proud of your military men and women. I saw several RV parks in the area and they looked like parking lots.. I will be back.. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a touch south of main Colorado Springs on Highway 115 off of I-25 towards Canon City where the Royal Gorge Bridge is (34 miles). It's about 17 minutes to Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs. There are many stores and nice shopping centers near on 115 or Nevada street. My biggest tip is going here expecting real camping in the mountains.

This park is a little rough around the edges in regards to grounds maintenance. The dirt sites don't even pretend to be level and the weeds and grass are pretty high. We were put in a "deluxe" site that supposedly has a side yard for outdoor living. On the plus side, that side yard gives you some space between you and your neighbor. On the minus side, our side yard was unusable because it was covered in dog poop. Our next door neighbor informed us that the people who were in this site before us had 3 dogs, whom they let roam the site unrestrained and poop everywhere. The campers then left without picking up any of the poop. Our neighbor said he'd gone down to the office to complain; we also went to the office to complain, but during our week-long stay no one ever came by to clean it up. Next time we're in Colorado Springs we'll try somewhere else; $48 per night was a little pricey considering the quality of the park. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is not maintained. All roads and camp sites are dirt, potholes and camp sites that are not level. Most of the hookups were on the wrong side of your camper. I would not recommend this campground. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Have been rving for only 1 year and have stayed in approx 20 parks. This is the worst of the worst. Other parks were full or would have not stayed. Nothing but mud, gravel and weeds. Hard to manuver roads and unlevel sites. Water connection in dug out pit, sewer connection just a pipe w/cover. Showers dirty w/nothing but ragged shower curtain, no locks on doors. Don't stay here!!!!!!! We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

This park has been around a while but has not been updated much. There are sites from tent camping with no utilities, some sites with electric and water, and several with full hookups. Roads are easy to navigate but since they are dirt roads and we probably just had the wettest summer on record, there is a lot of rutting. The workers are out about every other day with a tractor trying to level out the ruts. We really felt sorry for the tenters having to survive the daily downpours. Each site has a firepit and some grass and trees. We lucked out and got an end-site so no one on one side of us. Not exactly the most level site, but we were able to perfectly level for the month. Power worked consistently. Wi-fi was iffy on the tower we were close to but the tower on the other end worked great all the time. OTA TV was ok - was able to get ABC, CBS, and FOX. Although NBC also has a tower about 3 miles away, we could not pull that station in. The lake is nice to walk around and people did catch some trout. There are hiking paths that are nice hikes and good views. I did spot 3 bears, some turkeys, rattle and bull snakes, and deer. Ft. Carson is across the street so you do hear artillery practice and helicopters. It was kind of cool to hear Taps and Reveille every day. Monthly rate includes electric and the $26 / day was based on monthly stay. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Juniper Valley Ranch for home-style meal - has been around forever. Pub Dog was a great place to grab a beer and let your dog run around. The Abbey for winetasting. Either Dakota Springs or Desert Reef hot springs. Be aware, both of these places are pretty rustic and they are clothing optional. Then of course the normal tourist spots in Colorado Springs area.

Campground is well established, but is still a work in progress. Roads and campsites were rough, uneven, and not level as well as having several tight turns. Some campsite sewer connections were too high to use for dumping. Staff were very responsive and helpful, but the park needs significant physical upgrades. We stayed here for two weeks in a fifth wheel. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Other campgrounds were full over a holiday weekend but we were able to get a spot here. Staff were friendly over the phone when we made reservations. When you check in make sure you park below the office because once you make the tight turn up the hill to the campsites the road is narrow even for two RVs going in opposite directions. The campground roads are hard packed dirt and were ok even with rain. We were put in a "deluxe" site which was all that was available. These sites are dirt and rock, FHU, not very level. What made them deluxe is they have a "yard" which is another site that has a picnic table and fire pit. We thought this was wasted space, mostly used by people cutting through to go to the bathroom. Amenities include a fishing lake for a fee, small store and over priced insect museum. Wifi was slow. We mostly used this campground as a base to see the sights in the area which were fairly convenient to get to as I-25 is nearby. Ft Carson is across Hwy 115 so you can hear reveille in the am and taps at night as well as live fire exercises. We thought the price was a bit high for what you get at this campground, but probably comparable to other campgrounds and maybe cheaper if you don't get a deluxe site. Next time we are in the area we would try to stay in the state park. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is in a good location, close to places to see and things to do. The work-campers keep the restrooms and laundry room very clean. No hesitation using any of the facilities.

The park is very run down. The road into the park is asphalt and dirt and has speed bumps in turns and across the road at an angle. The roadways are dirt and very little gravel and are terribly rutted.

We had a "deluxe" site, which means you get two of their old sites put together. Your picnic table is on the other "site" and away from your coach and awning. The sites are not level and, when you step out of your coach, you have to move up hill out of the parking area. Because it was dirt, we had our mat out but, it was so steep that our older dog kept sliding down off the mat and my husband I slipped all the time.

The site was a "pull thru" but was very steep on the "in" side so that you had to drive down a bump to get into the site. When you pulled out, you went down over another steep bump that was rutted and rocky. Anything not tied down goes flying.

They have a play area with swings, a teeter-totter and tires to climb on but, the park and common area are not flat (like it's been plowed up) and what greenery is there is all weeds.

This might be an okay value if they charged $30 for the "deluxe" sites, but not at close to $50.

They did have Internet access, but by 8 a.m. it's too slow to use.

We would definitely NOT stay here again. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

We expected so much more given the price we paid. This is a primitive campground with rutted dirt roads and many uneven sites. We were in a long pull-through site with full hook ups. The length of the site allowed us to keep our car trailer attached but the outdoor living area was narrow and completely unusable. It was uneven and littered with gopher holes and covered with goat heads (puncturevine). The picnic table for our site was about 4 ft from our neighbor's sewer connection. Moving it farther away would position it too close to the dirt road. The distances to the hook-ups were ridiculous. Because there was only one pedestal for two sites, we had to run our electric cord under the rig. The distance to the water hook-up was acceptable but we had to use two 20ft sewer hoses to reach the sewer connection because it was at the far back end of the site (and across our neighbor's outdoor living area). Very poor planning given this was a pull-through site. This campground could be so much more with a few strategic improvements. Cannot recommend this park and will not stay here again. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park! A little more primitive with dirt roads, but with full hookups, clean bath houses and laundry. Two private ponds to fish in and can pay campground fee of $6.00 instead of state fee. Staff is very welcoming and helpful! Will stay here again and again! We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Superlatives barely begin begin to describe this campground. For some years now Golden Eagle has firmly established itself as one our three favorites in the entire U.S.A. With almost 1,000 acres of virtual wilderness on the East Slope of the Rocky Mountains just south of Colorado Springs this place has everything for a serious camper. Miles of hiking trails, incredible wildlife, incomparable views and spectacular scenery. You can hike up a trail and see at least 75 miles. At night you can watch the lights of Colorado Springs twinkle in the distance. The people who run this campground are friendly, reliable and dedicated to making your stay comfortable. The bathrooms are really clean and sanitary. Associated with the park is the May Natural History Museum which is at the bottom of the hill you'll drive up to reach the campground. The Museum houses the largest privately owned insect collection in North America and at $6.00 for adults to visit it is well worth a visit. The incredible diversity of nature is on display there and wonderful to view. The sun rises from the great plains to the east and sets behind the mountains to the west. Simply an incredible place. I love camping at this place. Can't recommend it highly enough. If you want perfectly level sites on concrete slabs and cable TV you may not be happy, but if you love wilderness, spectacular views, the fresh smell of pine trees and sage and lots of wildlife, Golden Eagle is really hard to beat. A good park with the potential to be so much more. It looks like at one time it was a 5 star park but now I'd give it 3. For starters you share a power pedestal with the site next to you, luckily for me I got to ours first because there is a 30 amp and 50 amp on each one and I needed the 30 amp and don't have the 50 amp adaptor, although I will be getting one, the problem is they didn't warn the three other rigs that pulled in next to me and didn't have one either so they had to drive back down to the office and get a new spot. This also means you better have a long power cord. The sites need re-leveling, the fire rings are in odd places. There is a great playground for kids and people did catch fish out of the pond, it was also very quiet and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and seemed to work hard. It just seems like it needs some sprucing up. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful and very clean campground surrounded by stunning mountains, river and many hiking and bike trails. Staff very friendly and respectful. 1st week we stayed in a very big lot with full hook-ups. Quiet and peaceful. 2nd week, the campground was fully booked, owner offered us to boon dock in a secret place that I will call "our little paradise." Lots of cute rabbits, fox, deer...and apparently bears that we did not see. A cute lake where you can fish to. We will definitely return! This park has potential, but apparently there is no motivation to improve it. We stayed here in a 43' RV and it was extremely tricky to get it up the hill and into the site. Site was the most rutted, unlevel pad we have ever stayed on. Flooding had occurred here and the "stream bed" running thru the site hadn't been filled in. Many of the campers here were transients with junk on their sites. Water pressure was adequate. The site had new 50 amp. Our Verizon worked fine, the parks WiFi is useless. This park had the only monthly vacancy in the area on short notice, so we had no where else to stay while visiting family. It's a shame they don't improve the park, as the scenery around it is beautiful and quiet. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
