This was our 4th stay at the park and it has changed considerably over the years. The park is now dominated by full time residents which have taken every space away from the road up the hill behind the office. Travelers are in the lower part of the park close to the road. At 6am every week day the gravel trucks start to run until 3pm. There is at least one truck, on average, every minute and many times 3 or 4 trucks pass in a group. I realize the park can't control the trucks, but future campers should be aware. The sites are nicely graveled, but the roads are down to the dirt so there is a considerable amount of dust. The park wells are dry so water is trucked in during the day. In the morning the water pressure is very low. I measured it at 15 psi. Once the tanks are full the water pressure go up to 45 psi. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This RV park is quite a distance from town which I didn't realize when I made reservations. There was a lot of work being done on I-25 which made driving through Colorado Springs quite a chore. Upon arrival the checkin was smooth and we were guided to our site which was a good thing because we never would have round it on our own! Office staff very friendly.

Our site was a nice one EXCEPT we faced Barrett Rd. which is the main route for a quarry further up the way. That meant from 6:30 AM to 4 PM there were huge trucks going back and forth which made a lot of noise. Paying $52 for our spot I felt was outrageous for that reason. As for the park, it is a very busy place, very well kept with nice landscaping. I would consider staying here again if we were to return to Colorado Springs, but I would make certain we were not close to the road. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Pro's: Beautiful park in a beautiful setting. Very well-kept park with lots of room and space. Good store and an excellent lounge with a great big TV for camper's use. Friendly and helpful staff. Had 3 deer within 10 feet of our RV at night. Very cool! Mostly shaded lots. Con's: Almost all gravel! Gravel everywhere and hardly a lick of grass! Even the enclosed "dog park" essentially had no grass?! The gravel actually hurt my dog's feet. And, she won't go to the bathroom except on grass. She was not at all happy at this park. It was a long walk from our site to the bathroom and the store. While there were multiple choices for WiFi, we kept getting kicked off the WiFi. And, there was no pool, but a hot tub. However, it was not open while we were there due to maintenance issues. No Verizon cell service at all from within the park?! Lastly, we left early because of the issues that they had no grass for our dog, but they refused to give us a refund for the night we didn't stay!!! We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You won't have cell service and the wifi is not reliable. Lastly, I don't consider it a dog-friendly park.

Seems like a nice park overall. Friendly staff when we arrived. Some sites have views some don't. Some sites are satellite friendly, some are not. Some sites have basic cable, but it's really a basic DirecTV package. Lot's of trees and deer in the park. About a 15-20 minutes drive to Colorado Springs. Passport America members beware... They have a policy that they can and will move you to a different site if someone comes along, paying full price, and wants your reserved site. They did not tell us this when I made my reservation 6 months out. Thus our rating of "Bad" for service. Now, they did call us a week before we arrived informing us it was a possibility but when I asked why she was very evasive and ultimately told me a lie that they were doing some maintenance work. When we did arrived (and expressed our displeasure) the gentleman checking us in did extend the PPA discount to the full 5 days we were booked. Instead of satellite and view friendly site 84, they put us in site 9 which is large, level, shaded and has the basic cable. Too many trees for my satellite. The negatives though outweigh the positives in my opinion. 9 is right at the entrance so you get to hear all the traffic coming and going all night long. You have a great view of the trash dumpsters and get to wake up to the sound of campers throwing their trash in them a 5:30 AM. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is the best RV Park in Colorado Springs. But that is because the other parks are more or less trailer parks for full time residents with travel trailers or fifth wheels. This in large part due the extensive military presence in Colorado Springs.

The staff is very helpful and friendly but do not enforce the 5 mph speed limit so if you are in the font row of the main driveway (sites 1-8 or 9-16) every time a registering camper coming in or sewer truck, FedEx, UPS, or other delivery truck goes by a dust cloud from the red gravel covers your car and RV. The worst violators are the campground employees who go up and down the main driveway 20 mph in Golf carts, skidsteers, and utility vehicles all day. The park has their water delivered so you cannot wash your rig unless you use their mobile wash guy who has a contract with the park.

The park wireless depending on where you are is very good. They have a signal extender for cell phones so if you want to make a Verizon call you can if you are near the office where the tower is.

Cable TV was adequate, depending on which site you are on. I moved once and had a good signal on one site and grainy on another.

Sites 1-7 are so narrow if you have slides on both sides you could be overhanging the site next to you and the sewer connections are in the next site in the front so your neighbors sewer connection is 3 feet from your front door on your site.

Other sites are very wide and spacious. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This campground is 16 miles from Colorado Springs, so you are going to be driving alot to see the site, eat out or buy food. The staff was friendly. We did enjoy the park but we would not stay here again because you have no Verizon cell phone or internet service. They offer free Wi-Fi but it did not work for most of the time we were here. Maybe because we were paying 'full freight' our expectations were higher. On the good side, the park is very clean, sites are reasonably sized, and the owners are friendly. On the down side, there were barking dogs and music audible across the park during a weekend day, with no apparent attempt to enforce the noise limits. Sites near the road will get noise from trucks headed to a nearby quarry. Sites were freshly graveled, but not very level. WiFi service was highly erratic and failed completely for one evening. This is not really a good site for visiting Colorado Springs, being so far south of town. We would not stay here again. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

I struggled to be fair in rating this CG. The CG advertises that it is family friendly, but our opinion is this CG is aimed towards the senior citizens crowd. THEY seemed thrilled with the CG. We pulled in late and went off to find our site, which had no site number. We figured it out by process of elimination. We pulled into the site and our camper was angled down towards its back and our truck was angled towards its front. There was a crest to the hill. Looking from the side you would be seeing an obtuse angle. Those with a TT will know that this will force the ball back into the brake in the trailers receiver, so disconnecting the truck from the TT was just not possible. We moved in the morning to the smallest site we have ever stayed at. So, if you are in the senior citizens crowd you’ll love it, but if you have school age children pass. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park, only complaint I have and other campers that I spoke to was, they allow the children from the full timers to ride their atv's all around the campground. They are also not careful in the way they ride them. One day this went on for about two and a half hours straight. If I had wanted to hear atv's all day I could of stayed home, not to mention all the dust it creates in the air, so much for sitting outside and enjoying the outdoors. Also did not see any wildlife because they were scared away. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
