Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice large level sites, unfortunately not many sites with full hookup. Really needs an investment to accomplish this. Restrooms and showers were clean and the amount of them just enough for the whole campground due to the many tent sites. The pool was clean and the house rule regarding minors swimming without supervision was well maintained.

Good Wi-Fi.

We had a lovely stay. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very well maintained campground, with helpful and friendly staff at check in. The road and sites are gravel, no grass at all. Our site was a long pull through with side to side hook ups which required some leveling, and we were very close to our neighbor. Big rig access was good. It was very quiet, not a lot of privacy, but there was space for our towed. The landscaping was very pretty and we had a picnic table at our site. There was a small pool. The campground had wonderful views of the surrounding mountains, however we never got to enjoy them, we were shoehorned into a small space on the campground facing a view of a tree, while the rest of the campground with the wonderful views remained fairly empty. It made no sense to us or the other campers who were there that night. Bathrooms were old but clean, and the laundry was well equipped, clean and open 24/7. There is a nature walk, a pet walk with doggie bags and a 3 acre dog park. WiFi was good. There is a large Safeway in Cortez as well as plenty of restaurants and sightseeing in the area. However, we would probably not stay here again, it's a typical KOA and very overpriced and there are better campgrounds in the area. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Not very friendly when we checked in. They put us in back on a uneven site in open area. Asked if we could get one in wooded area and facing North. They claim they where are reserved but during our stay there where some open. Changed our stay from 7 days to 5. This was a big hassle. Place was clean and plenty of space for big rig but the manager at the office spoiled the visit. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Great campground. Though pricey, it was worth every penny. Site was level and no issues with Wifi, or satellite TV. View was great. Campground, office, store and pool was immaculate. Grounds were very well maintained. Place had lots of personality and accommodated campers in RVs, TeePees, cabins. Some longer term folks on one side but very orderly and neat. Got firewood delivered to site and had a couple nice campfires overlooking the mesa and valley below. We don't like to spend that much on a campground usually but this was worth every penny. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very short distance to Mesa Verde National Park. Downtown area was a couple of miles the other direction with WalMart and other handy stores near.

This is a great KOA - very clean, very organized and updated. Gravel sites with nice trees, good hook-ups and it is QUIET!! It's on the side of Cortez closest to Mesa Verde, so only about 8 miles to the entrance. Had to level a bit, but that's everywhere in our experience.

There is a park and lake next door which is fun, but don't plan on catching your dinner outta there. The fish are so overfed that there's no way you'd catch anything (we tried). But it's pretty and quiet.

Campground has a nice pool and playground area, feels very safe and is beautiful. Overall, a very nice KOA.

My only complaint is the usual one with KOAs. Pricey!! Still makes me mad that they charge $5 per kid per day, which adds $10 on to our daily rate. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

A well maintained KOA with a very friendly helpful staff. Parking in the all gravel pull through area is tight, with units back to back sharing a power post and water but it's a KOA. Adjacent city park with a 3 acre dog park and a small lake with a trail around it makes it great for people traveling with dogs. A good place as a base for exploring Mesa Verde NP, Hovenweep NM and others pueblo sites in the area as well as day trips to Durango. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed 3 nights to explore the area. Park is laid out well, very clean, well maintained and can accommodate any size rig. Sites was long and level with all services working well. Good WiFi and cell service. Owners are very customer friendly and go out of their way to help their guest. The office and store are well stocked with goods and information. From the park you can see Mesa Verde NP and the San Juan Mountains. There is a walking trail around a small lake. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future. We highly recommend this park. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Only 8 miles to Mesa Verde National Park.

This campground is one of the best we've ever stayed in. The owner and staff are extremely nice. We were even asked if our RV had a rear window so they could place us facing the lovely view of the mountains. (This was a first for any of the dozens of places we've stayed!) The whole place is spotless. Wifi is free and works very well. Lots of TV channels via antenna. There's a great little lake with lots of water birds and walking paths next to the campground which is open to campers and their dogs. Also a 3-acre dog park next door (probably city-owned). Spaces have very easy entry and exit. We will definitely return if we can get back to the area. Would love to spend months there. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Must-do's are Mesa Verde National Park and Hovenweep National Monument. Also visit the Guy Drew Winery just outside Cortez which offers wine tasting every afternoon. Wonderful place. (The campground sells their wines which we didn't discover until after we'd gone to the winery.)

Standard KOA, a bit pricey but has a lot of amenities. We planned to stay at La Mesa RV but had to wait one night for them to have an opening. The park is well landscaped with quite a few trees. The sites are level. Has a pool. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Cortez area, it is loaded with National Parks and Monuments. Mesa Verde of course. You can actually see the mesa from the CG, look east that flat top mountain is it. Make reservations for tours online and early if you plan to do anything except the main tours. They were booked up for over a week when we got there and didn't know that.

Very nice KOA. The place is well maintained and immaculate. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great views of the mountains. Very good WiFi. Small store for basic needs. All gravel but maintained and in very good condition. Very little dust for a gravel and a small ways off the main highway made it pretty quite. A public 3 acre dog park is easy walk with dedicated path from the RV park. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Travel Trailer.

If you had an option for 8.5, that's what we would have chosen. KOA's sites are all a little closer together than we like. It's a business, not a state or even a county park. Space is at a premium. Having said that, I asked in the reservation request for a space with a tree and privacy and that's exactly what they gave us. The host was extremely nice when we came in, he was ready for us and told us about the 3 acre dog park as I had indicated that we had pets (we actually have 2 labs). I consider that dog park a huge plus for us - Huge. If we can get these dogs tired, they are less likely to wake us up at 6 am. There is a nice gift store with a small grocery and essentials and we have full hook ups and they have a great laundry room and pool table and community room, big screen TV. All are immaculate. We also have a great view from site #20. I think when evaluating KOA campgrounds, one must remember that this venture is a money making business and one cannot really compare it to government run parks. There is a time and place for both. I would definitely stay here again. Kudos to the park for the care obviously given. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Clean, exceptionally well-run campground that sits on hilltop facing Mesa Verde. Excellent Verizon 4G signal, very good campground wifi, very good utility connections. Super friendly staff. Weekends are very busy, quieter during the week. Liked the nature trail that runs around Denny Lake Park adjacent to campground. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

This was a great park to stay in. Despite our late arrival one of the representatives escorted us to our site. He then assisted me with parking and made sure that I situated my camper for the best view from the site. He then pointed out several different points of interest visible in the distance. The site and roads were in good repair and level. Bathrooms were clean and showers were good. The store had everything we could need. They don't sell propane on site but directed me just down the road to a gas station that did. A great stay in Mesa Verde country. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Travel Trailer.

A well maintained park with a helpful and friendly staff. The gravel spaces aren't very well defined but there is lots of space to work with. Wildlife abounds with deer visits and a bird covered small lake within easy walking distance. There is a large pet area and other good areas to walk a dog. A good base for visiting Mesa Verde NP. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.
