We stay here at least once a year--and it is always a pleasure. Nice walk around pond for nature and to take dogs, dog park right there, great views.
Owners are pleasant and thoughtful. Good areas for tent camping too. Close to town for shopping and to restaurants. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Walmart near for things you have forgotten. Even a Big R for dog food we forgot. But you do not feel like you are that close. Good choice of restaurants.

This KOA is in a great location, right at the edge of Cortez, and a short drive to Mesa Verde. The campground is pretty large, and sites vary quite a bit from one area to the next. Our area was a huge gravel lot with almost no trees, so it wasn't very attractive. Other parts of the campground are more wooded and look a little nicer. Many of the RV sites are very narrow and close together, with RVs parked facing alternating directions with shared utilities between them (an arrangement we're not fans of). Some of the sites are wider and traditionally arranged--our site was one of these which we appreciated. The free WiFi worked pretty well during the day, but was quite slow during the evenings. Both AT&T and Verizon worked well without a booster. There's a nice walking trail around the nearby lake, and the large Cortez Dog Park is a very short walk from the campground. We loved the dog park and were there with our Lab every afternoon. We'd stay here again, due to the great central location and great dog park. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

I stayed just one night on my way through. The park is very pretty in the front and inviting. In the back it is a gravel parking lot but very well taken care of, neat and tidy. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My particular site #48, was spacious, almost level, and since I was on the back row had a beautiful view. I was able to park my 42' without having to disconnect my truck and still had plenty of room. The sewer connection was a bit to the back of the site, but I didn't use it so not sure how far it really was. Looked just fine to me.

This is a big rig friendly place and easy to maneuver. I don't mind all the gravel which someone else commented on, as I would rather have that than dirt. And this park is very well maintained which means all the gravel is super packed and level.

Very inviting nature walk around the pretty lake and my dogs loved that. There is also a fenced 3 acre off-leash park maintained by the county which is nice and close. I didn't use Wifi, laundry or bathrooms, but from what I could see as I walked around it was all as nice as the parking area. I would definitely stay again and would stay for multiple days if visiting the area. The only caveat I have is there were not many rigs here so I can't comment on how it would be if the park were full. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed a week - great place, good views of Mesa Verde. Great spot for a base place to stay and visit all the surrounding area has to offer. Friendly staff that are always available throughout the day and even helping late arrivals after 9pm find their spot. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

A nice park, on gravel. Nice pool area with community tables and BBQ. No individual firepits. Great location to explore Mesa Verde. Clean laundry room (some machines did not work well). Very clean and nice restrooms and showers. Wi fi/phone reception is spotty. We pulled in at night to find our spot occupied. It was difficult to find anyone to help as the office was closed, the phone did not answer. It was resolved the next morning -freeloaders. The park is very clean. Many sites have shade trees. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Sites not huge but big enough for my 35' fifth wheel and truck. Sites were level with good WiFi. Used as four-night base to visit the 4 corners, worked well. Outstanding view of Mesa Verde and Sleeping Ute mountains from the site. I will stay here again. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an extremely well maintained RV park. The grounds were lovely and the entire park was well kept up. The pool was pleasant and very clean. The laundry room and TV lounge were in good shape.

Cortez is a nice town and this park is close to Mesa Verde. Very efficient staff. Our family enjoyed our stay at this park. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Travel Trailer.

First off, I fail to understand the surpise of sites being close, it is a commercial campground and there business is to make money. It is a typical KOA, The entire area is gravel and our site needed only a 3/4" board to level side to side. The area was clean and well kept. There is what looks like a city park with a trail around the lake/pond. It is a good ways back from the main road and I did not hear any trains in the night. We did not try the OTA tv stations so we cannot comment on that. We will be coming back. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The previous reviewer got it correct. This is a newish KOA being built on the old KOA business model. The sites are all crammed together is a fore and aft fashion where one unit is parked facing north and the unit next to it is parked facing south so both units utilities are grouped together. The water & electric are together with the sewer either in the front quarter or rear quarter of the site. All sites are gravel some have small trees most have no shade at all. There is NO cable tv and the pool doesn't open till June 1st. During our stay the WIFI was strong and reasonably fast BUT there were only about 8 other units in the entire park at the time. So it could very probably be very slow when the park is full. The management was friendly and helpful, but there is no justification for the site fees based on what you get. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

I stayed here because of the reviewer who stated that it was the best KOA they had ever stayed at. What they failed to say was they were on an upper ledge that did have a few trees. Our site is in a gravel parking lot with no trees and no grass nearby for the dogs to do their business on. I had to put out blocks as my self levelers would not accommodate the slope of our site. You would think for a large gravel parking lot there would be a lot of room between homes, but as I am writing this I am looking at our next door neighbors camper that appears to be about 7 feet away even though the back lot is almost empty and they could have spaced out the campers. The park is clean and the check in person was friendly. Wifi is good, no cable tv, pretty good OTA reception if you have a digital antenna. Our site is worth about $15 to $18, but not $37.95. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

This is the best KOA we have ever stayed in and the best RV park in Cortez. We had a large site with a great view of the mountains. The electric was strong as was the wifi most of the time. We also had good Verizon cell and data signals. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the many smoky fires. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice large level sites, unfortunately not many sites with full hookup. Really needs an investment to accomplish this. Restrooms and showers were clean and the amount of them just enough for the whole campground due to the many tent sites. The pool was clean and the house rule regarding minors swimming without supervision was well maintained.

Good Wi-Fi.

We had a lovely stay. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very well maintained campground, with helpful and friendly staff at check in. The road and sites are gravel, no grass at all. Our site was a long pull through with side to side hook ups which required some leveling, and we were very close to our neighbor. Big rig access was good. It was very quiet, not a lot of privacy, but there was space for our towed. The landscaping was very pretty and we had a picnic table at our site. There was a small pool. The campground had wonderful views of the surrounding mountains, however we never got to enjoy them, we were shoehorned into a small space on the campground facing a view of a tree, while the rest of the campground with the wonderful views remained fairly empty. It made no sense to us or the other campers who were there that night. Bathrooms were old but clean, and the laundry was well equipped, clean and open 24/7. There is a nature walk, a pet walk with doggie bags and a 3 acre dog park. WiFi was good. There is a large Safeway in Cortez as well as plenty of restaurants and sightseeing in the area. However, we would probably not stay here again, it's a typical KOA and very overpriced and there are better campgrounds in the area. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Not very friendly when we checked in. They put us in back on a uneven site in open area. Asked if we could get one in wooded area and facing North. They claim they where are reserved but during our stay there where some open. Changed our stay from 7 days to 5. This was a big hassle. Place was clean and plenty of space for big rig but the manager at the office spoiled the visit. We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
