Wooded campsite on the Rio Grande. There are gazebos and picnic tables along the river. Our gravel site was large, shaded and level. We made our own fire ring from the available rocks and there was free firewood for the taking. Staff was friendly and helpful. Del Norte does is not economically prosperous and the neighborhood around the park was a little run down, but the small downtown was interesting. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Most parks in the San Luis Valley along HWY 160 are in fact beside the highway. Woods & River is off the highway and much closer to nature - including the Rio Grande river. Six deer wandered thru the park yesterday evening - it is quiet! The front or southern portion of the park is showing age but is a good value. The brand new northern section is nestled in the trees along the banks of the Rio Grande. All utilities in this section are brand new. Beautiful walk, fire pits and gazebos on the river front. Wifi and utilities worked as expected. AT&T poor, Verizon good, satellite easy in front, but could be a problem along the river. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take a day trip on the Silver Thread Highway. Awesome views at any time of the year. Just head west to South Fork and take 149. Creede is a good stop. While in Creede allow a couple hours to take the Bachelor Loop historic tour. Take your camera!

Overall Rating:

Nice park right on the Rio Grande river. Convenient to a lot of hiking and sights. There have been a lot of improvements with about 30 Elec/Water sites added down by the river. Wifi can be spotty but we had no issues with our most recent stay. We spent 2 weeks here in May 2017 and 2 nights in Oct. 2017. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We have stayed here many times in the last 6 years. It was always clean but looking a little aged. New owners and their partners have made many improvements to change what was a quaint older one night stay park into the beginnings of a destination park. New entrance, many trees planted, older "permanent" RV's are gone, and the best news a new area has opened with many sites on the Rio grande. They have expanded and nearly doubled the number of sites. Owners drove us in a golf cart to the river sites and let me pick the one I liked best. From the dash of the rv it is not 30 ft to the river. Friendly owners, great view, planning a much longer stay next year. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Site was among trees near the Rio Grande river. Even though we were tree covered we had good satellite reception. Sites are gravel with good electric and very high water pressure. Will need a pressure reducer. Good cell service. The owner showed us a number of sites so we could pick any site. The park was very quiet and peaceful We just stayed one night. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

New owner last summer is expanding the park, the new section is still being worked on. They leveled and seeded a new tent area. Satellites may not work in the river section due to the tall trees. The river sites vary in length & width, some are much longer and wider than others. Water was good with good pressure & new power boxes. Dump on site - LARGE hole into system the normal sewer connection does not fit, you place the entire end into the hole. Water at dump for tank flush. Sites are pretty l level gravel with trees separating sites.

Upper park has many permanent residents parked side by side, way closer than I prefer. Quiet, well kept park. There are two gazebos on the river with fire rings. Road in turns to gravel 1/2 mile from the park.

I can't say enough about the host & her husband. My vehicle broke down right after I arrived they took me to the local grocery to resupply. They were very accommodating knowing my vehicle was in the shop. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 3 nights using PPA, which was great. Pull through was level, water pressure and taste was good, wifi iffy from our site, but free. This is a smaller rv park with mostly long term residents, but very quiet. They are expanding the park next to the beautiful Rio Grande River and have built 2 gazebos on the rivers edge. This will probably be a pretty nice size park in the near future. You do have to go about a mile on a gravel road to get here, but other than that, it's not bad. Interior roads are dirt or grass. Manager lady was very pleasant. DirecTV satellite was good. Nice picnic table at each site. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We ride a motorcycle, so we rode to Wolf Creek Pass and into Pagosa Springs for the most beautiful ride, 59 miles from the campground. The next day we rode the bike to Great Sand Dunes National Park, about 70 miles away. It was an extremely windy ride with about 25-30 mph winds, but worth the trip. On the way back we stopped at Three Beers Brewery close to the RV Park for the best brick-oven wood fired pizza in a long time...and reasonably priced.

Overall Rating:

This is a basic park located close to town, but away from the highway. It was very quiet and access to the river and walking was excellent. They are working on an expansion which looks like it will be really beautiful! There is much potential to this park and the owner seems dedicated to making it a great park yet keeping it's rustic charm. There were many permanent tenants and older trailers, but everyone seemed very nice. The owners were extremely nice and wanted to make sure everything was good for your stay. We would definitely return. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

The park is down a paved rd that turns to dirt about .2 of a mile before the entrance of the park the dirt section is in good shape. Sites are dirt and grass but pretty level. This a basic park lot of construction workers live in the park. The hook ups were fine no bath house. They are building sites on the Rio Grand at this time. High marks for value, we paid the cash price of $33.40 for 2 nights using Passport America. Power was fine, we did not need AC so we took a 30 amp, FHU, grass, pull thru site with very good wi-fi. Sewer connection was a bit uphill, but we have seen far worse. Just needed to empty the sewer hose before disconnecting it.

This place is a bit rough around the edges, but everything works and the people here are nice. The hookups are side by side on a lot of sites. But we took the one right next to the entrance and had an empty field on our curbside. Overall a nice place to spend a night or two. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Previous comments are accurate. No broadcast TV, no ATT cell coverage. Good WiFi. Will, the manager, is a great fellow and he goes out of his way to make sure all is well with your assigned site. He even spent an hour or two insulating our water supply since snow was expected that night. We hope to get there again--without the snow. This is a very nice, grassy, quiet spot. Manager was very nice. Park sits along the Rio Grande River. Great overnight spot! We do not use public restrooms or laundry, so I cannot comment on them. Fifty amps was good; site was level. Better than anything we saw along Hwy 160. We camped at Woods and River RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Great "overnighter". The manager was very helpful and accommodating. Sites are grass, but level. All utilities were good, and it was very quiet at night. It is a fair distance from Hwy 160 and you do have to travel several blocks on gravel city streets. We would stay here again if passing through.
