If you enjoy camping "off the grid" in gorgeous surroundings, then this is the place for you. It would have gotten a 10 if there was water and a dump station. Several sites have 30 amp electric which is very convenient but you will have to fill your fresh water tank. Located right on the West Dolores River, you can fly fish or just enjoy the sights and sounds. There are pull-throughs, back-ins and tent sites. If you want to use the electric, which we purchased, it will cost $6.00 a night. Site number 10 has wonderful shade and privacy and is only a few steps away from the river. Having to drive to the city of Dolores (20 miles) to dump tanks is not convenient but the beauty and grandeur of this campground definitely make up for that. We would come here again. We camped at Mavreeso Campground / San Juan - USFS in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Right in the middle of a touring area for several National and State and Indian parks. You need at least a week to see it all. Closest town is Dolores, and Cortez is just 10 miles further. Everything you need can be found in those two cities. No cell or internet service at the campground but wonderful library in Dolores and good places to eat.

There are both electric and non-electric sites at this Forest Service campground and water faucets. We stayed in one of the pull-through electrical sites for four days. The five pull through sites are very close together--your door opens into the next camper's space. If the neighbors had a fire, it filled our trailer. And NO cell service at all. I probably would not camp there again. We camped at Mavreeso Campground / San Juan - USFS in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Dolores is a very nice town but nothing is close----we used the wi-fi at the Dolores Public Library.

A nice Forest Service campground located right next to the West Delores River. Paved road all the way to the campground with very light traffic. Camp hosts were friendly. Absolutely no cell phone or internet coverage. I used one of the 30 amp, pull through sites. Many were available. The water had a mild sulfur taste. A Brita filter removed most of the bad taste. Water taps lacked hose threads so bring containers transfer water to your RV. Being near water mosquitoes are present. Site 10 has an excellent view of the river and will be my choice next time through. This is a fishing camp so consider bring tackle. We camped at Mavreeso Campground / San Juan - USFS in a Travel Trailer.

This is a forest service campground. The road to this campground is paved and in good condition. Quite a few of the campsites are along the Dolores River and some of them are big enough for large motor homes. Some of the sites could accommodate 40' motorhomes. The sites have a picnic table and a fire ring. There are 5 electric (30Amp) sites. 15-E is a first come electric site. There are other first come non-electric sites available too. The sound of the river can be heard throughout this pretty campground. Sites appeared to be fairly level, water faucets located around campground loop and trash pickup is provided. TV satellite reception (dome) might come in at some sites, but probably better with a portable dish. This appeared to be a nice quiet little campground. We camped at Mavreeso Campground / San Juan - USFS in a Motorhome.
