Price reflect our America the Beautiful Senior discount. We were very fortunate to have a full hookup site. The site was pretty narrow, but the 30 amp power worked well, the water pressure was good. This was a great location to be able to visit Mesa Verde National Park, and get our onboard washer/dryer chores done. This park was very quiet while we were there, the views of the La Plata mountains were fantastic. We had deer visit our campsite daily and saw huge rabbits that at first sight reminded us of kangaroos! I would have rated this campground higher, but the sites are narrow with many tree obstructions and most are not level. We use Verizon and had a good phone signal. We camped at McPhee Reservoir/ Complex in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go see Mesa Verde.

The price was right with a senior pass and the location good for visiting Anasazi Heritage Center, Hovenweep National Monument and Canyon of the Ancients. Sites widely spaced with electric, picnic table. Negatives were that since season was about to end in late September, no reservations could be made, the showers were not available and the Pinon Loop was closed off. All sites we tried were very difficult to level. We picked up TV channels via antenna and AT&T cellular. We camped at McPhee Reservoir/ Complex in a Motorhome.

The pull-through sites are narrow and very close to the loop road. We had to put an orange cone out as our slide was right on the edge. No water hookups and all the water spigots in the park, including at the dump station, are plain ends - no threads for attaching hose to fill water tanks! Very inconvenient! Park Hosts were very nice and sympathetic regarding water connectors, but could only offer access to their spigot at the host site. Other than these two items, the park is nice and was a good stopover point for visits to Mesa Verde and other tourist sites. We camped at McPhee Reservoir/ Complex in a Fifth Wheel.

West of Dolores about 8 miles where the campground is on a hilltop with a nearby overlook grand view of surrounding mountains and lake reservoir. Campground has paved sites and roads. There are several toilet houses without showers and several non-threaded water faucets scattered about campground. Dump near entrance. Fee $10 with Golden Passport. We saw several deer and jackrabbits. Nearby, toward Dolores, is the Anasazi heritage museum-center which is a 10+ excellent exceptional museum beautifully setup. Should be a AAA GEM. We camped at McPhee Reservoir/ Complex in a Motorhome.

This is NOT House Creek Campground which is another campground along the McPhee Reservoir. There are 2 loops, Juniper and Pinyon and they both have electric and non-electric sites. There are back-ins and parallel sites and they all appeared to be wide enough for 4 slides and to park your car. We had power issues in the Pinyon Loop (power was around 94 volts) so moved to Juniper Loop where the power was at 120 volts. The electrical boxes looked like they were new and we had no further issues. Water faucets are scattered around the loops and they are not threaded. A dump station is located near the entrance of the campgrounds and has potable water. It’s an attractive campground with plenty of space between sites. Not all sites are level some are on a slightly downhill slant. Each site has a fire ring and the picnic table is handicap friendly. We had to use our cellphone antenna with the booster to get a strong enough signal for Verizon. Didn’t have any problems getting our dome satellite in. The park is far enough off the main highway for some peace and quiet and a good night sleep. There’s a camp host in each loop and they’re very nice people. This campground is on the reservation system but there are plenty of first come electric and non-electric sites. There were quite a few sites unoccupied over the Memorial Day Weekend. Camping rate for an electric site was $10.00 with the Golden Age Pass. We would stay here again when in the area. We camped at McPhee Reservoir/ Complex in a Motorhome.
