One of my favorite campgrounds, even though there are no hookups. It is extremely scenic, and there is a hiking trail around the lake. Sites are far from each other, and there is no light pollution. This lake and campground are amazing! We camped at Sylvan Lake State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The lakefront spots are basically in a parking lot, so stay away from those if you can. Be sure to do the hike around the lake.

Beautiful park, particularly with the Fall colors starting. Lake was very clean and great for fishing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. There's a short trail that goes around the lake that makes for a nice hike as well. The sites near the lake are set up like sardines, but still very nice as there is a large grassy area between the lot and the lake (and you are on the lake!). The sites in the rest of the campground are quite a bit more spacious and private and likely preferable for most. The nicer bathrooms are over in the loop as well whereas the ones near the lake are vault toilets and not all that nice. We camped at Sylvan Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Bring fishing gear and a kayak or paddleboard! There is absolutely zero cell coverage so you will be off grid (and be off grid for a few miles)

Sites fill up fast and are kind of close together, but that would not stop me from camping here again. Looks like a great place for a family reunion or picnic too with lots of day use potential. I am not sure if you can reserve a spot here, but if you can, it would be on the recreation.gov site that offers all reservable sites in Colorado and other areas. We camped at Sylvan Lake State Park in a Truck Camper.

Sylvan Lake State Park is real gem. The campground is very spacious, with several large pull-through sites and many sites that have a bit of a view of the lake. There are two sections, 34 sites well-spaced in a typical campground layout and 12 sites (Fisherman's Paradise) on a gravel parking lot which backs up onto a large grass area and the lake. Fisherman's Paradise is quite nice but when it fills up on weekends the spacing is pretty tight. This park is a wonderful place to spend a few days or a week. There are some nice hikes right from the campground and several outstanding hikes in the surrounding national forest. The lake is beautiful with good fishing and the fall color here is spectacular. The last five miles of the road to the lake are very well-maintained gravel--not a problem for RVs, just a bit bumpy in spots. We would not hesitate to come back here again. We camped at Sylvan Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great getaway! This park is well-run and although we did not have any hookups, we thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of a mountain camping experience. The sites are well-spaced and the restroom / shower facilities were very nice. Note that the campground is another five-mile drive in on a gravel road after the visitor center at the entrance to the park (a total of 15 miles from the nearest town of Eagle). We would definitely stay here again. Be sure to make your reservations early. We camped at Sylvan Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

I was surprised not to see this one listed yet - it is a gem of the Colorado State Park system. We have stayed here two years in a row and greatly enjoyed it. The lake draws the fishermen and there is a great trail to hike around it. You can ride your ATV right out of the campground and there are miles of legal roads to ride up in the mountains. The stars at night here are breathtaking on a clear night - no light pollution. The rangers patrol after dark and keep the place in control. They also have yurts and cabins. I almost hate to let the cat out of the bag on this place.. We camped at Sylvan Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.
