This park has had many problems in the past. But the crew this year is trying to over come some of these and they have made some improvements. Leveling the sites, remodeling bathrooms and keeping the dust down within the park. They say more to come this year and next. Adding more 50amp sites is one for next year. Maybe all the complaints have finally reached the people in charge. It's still and will always be a great location for the NP and Estes. This years staff is small and working hard to get things ready. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are all dirt with continual clouds of dust with any wind or vehicles driving on the road. We had to keep windows closed and use A/C on a fall day. The only selling point is the proximity to RMNP. Price is high but that may be the Estes Park area. Would not stay here again. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The entire park is horribly dusty and no effort has been made to mitigate the problem. Our all-dirt site was level, but the space allocated for the splinter-filled picnic table was a 45 degree angle, same as many other spaces; we couldn't use our awning. The WiFi was pitifully slow, even when the park was almost empty. We expected so much more for the price we paid and we won't ever stay there again. We felt robbed. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of campground choices in Estes Park, and two of the main choices are owned by the same company. First the good stuff: Elk Meadow is certainly in a beautiful location with mountain views in every direction, and is very close to the National Park entrance. They have a decent-sized dog park which we used several times. Check-in was easy and friendly. The sites are pretty close together, but at least they're not right on top of each other like some commercial RV parks near National Parks. Drawbacks: First, the roads and sites are dirt, and it was windy the entire week we were there. Every time a car or rig drove down one of the roads a huge cloud of dirt covered our rig and came in through the windows if they were open. We eventually just had to keep our windows closed. This park seriously needs to pave the interior roads! The free WiFi almost never worked, which I've come to expect at commercial RV parks. However, even though our Verizon hotspot had 5 bars of signal, it too was extremely slow and often unusable... I'm guessing there's only one Verizon tower in the area and it's overloaded and can't handle the number of customers there. Our AT&T was slightly faster, but still quite slow. It was a week of very poor internet connectivity for us. Most of the sites are somewhat unlevel (we needed blocks under our wheels), and the grassy part of the site is much more sloped, so don't expect a level picnic table unless you move it behind your rig like many folks did. The price ($65/night after taxes for a weekly stay with Good Sam) is too high for what you get. And if you have more than 2 people add an extra $5 per person. And on top of that there's a 50% cancellation fee, even if you cancel months in advance, which is unheard of. The park just has too many drawbacks to justify these rates, fees, and policies. Unfortunately, there may not be a better option in Estes Park. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rock Inn Mountain Tavern is a short walk from your campsite and has good food. Antonio's NY Pizza in town has excellent pizza (I'm originally from NY so I'm picky about my pizza).

The Good Sam rating for this park is completely incorrect and you need to read more reviews than just mine. We, as those who have actually endured this park, are all in agreement.

The pictures on the internet are all misleading. The entrance would lead you to believe that you've found a nice spot. But as soon as you pass the office, it's all downhill, or uphill, because your site will not be level. It's not just that it's difficult to level your RV, it's that it's also difficult to level a chair. Our site didn't even have a picnic table because there was no way that you could sit at one. Sewer hook up wouldn't work. Had to jerri rig it to work. We have every fitting known to man and ended up with a bag of pellets on top of one to make it work.

There is a wind advisory in their brochure because of the canyon effect and the location of this property. When you are on an extremely un-level site, in the winds, you're likely to experience an extremely uncomfortable, sleepless night, as we did. And there is no one outside their unit at any given time. It's simply too miserable.

When I was checking in, the woman in front of me was being scolded about parking on the grass. What grass? There wasn't a live plant to be seen beyond the office. Everything else is dust and weeds.

We agree that there is no logical reason for Good Sam's ratings of this property, nor the price point, at $60 per night. It is absolutely unconscionable that they can receive this kind of rating. Clearly, the Good Sam raters, have never actually spent night there, nor seen anything beyond the office building.

We paid for 3 nights, but just had to leave after two. Of course, they spell out their no refund policy clearly, so I didn't even try, but I would implore you to seek another option before visiting this park.

That being said, we've been on the road full time for 9 months and stayed at 50+ parks and never seen a park in poorer condition than this one. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

There's no reason to consider Elk Meadow RV Park except its proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park. As prior reviews report, the roads are dusty, the pads are dirt with no patios. In fact, our parking space picnic table was unusable due to the steep slope. The old, weathered picnic table was unattractive and splinters were a real danger. Did I mention dusty?

But worst of all was the pathetic wifi speeds. There are adequate wifi repeaters in the park and signal strength was good but the speed was completely inadequate even when the park was less than 50% full (less than 1Mbps). But Saturday night when the park was nearly full, the internet speed dropped to nearly zero and was unusable for even email.

The owners of this park are clearly not interested in improvements/investments, and there are many opportunities for improvement. This was our first and last visit. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Elk Meadows is a large park with dirt roads and sparse grass...dusty when the wind is blowing or when traffic is driving past. You will need to keep your windows closed to avoid getting dust everywhere. My rate included an extra person and extra vehicle (towing a trailer, wife driving our jeep). If I wanted to take the motorcycles out of the trailer for a ride I would have to pay $5/day for each bike as well. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 2 nights in Sept 2016. We came in after the office was closed and chose one after looking at the options. Unfortunately, we chose one that was rented the next night, so we had to move. My bad for not noticing. The after-hours process was very clear and easy.

The good: Location, clean bathrooms, modern laundry facilities, Great views - 360º with mountains and beautiful sunsets. Easy to get around the park and into most sites. Several sites that are suitable for big rigs or RV's with toads. Pull-throughs and back-ins. Satellite friendly at many sites.

The bad: Laundry room hours NOT convenient for everyone...esp if you tour around during the day as doors only unlocked between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. (last load must be started by 6:30). We don't usually do laundry, but we got there after hours and after dinner, we found out we missed the window. We really needed to do laundry and our last option was our final day/night. We didn't want to stay around until almost 11 a.m. since we were going to RM N.P., so planned on it our last night. Unfortunately, the water to the whole park was off when we returned due to it being repaired. Once the water was back on, the girl who answered the emergency phone was nice enough to come unlock the doors, even though it was after hours. Sites are dusty and not very level, but we survived. The utilities are oddly spaced at some sites. The sewer was a problem at our 2nd site as it was in an odd spot and we had to park just right so everything would reach. The bigger issue is one I've never encountered-the opening faced sideways rather that up towards the sky, and our hose had a hard time staying inside. Thankfully, we only used it to dump gray water.

I don't think we'd seek this place out next time we're in the area, but would stay here again if other choices were full. It has its merits, but needs some TLC to be a really great park. I would want to choose my site though. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We had a very enjoyable experience at your park. The staff was very helpful and cheerful. Our site was good, fairly level and had a great view of the mountains. We did not sample any of your amenities but did look at the pool which would have been inviting on a hotter day. Somewhat disappointed that both hot tubs were out of service. But that's OK. I must admit we were somewhat skeptical with allot of the negative reviews we had read on line but I am glad we didn't pay that much attention to them. Your CG is not perfect but none are. You could use your grader to level the sites a little better, but again none are perfect. Park is a little dusty but no where near as bad as some we have been in. It is camping after all. Your location right outside the RMNP is fantastic. The location south of town is a plus as it only takes a little exploring to find the back roads that take you around the main town if you want to go into Fort Collins or anywhere north of the main street area. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Restrooms / showers VERY clean. Landry room the same with excellent equipment. This would be an 10+++ if it had concrete pads and asphalt roads, but it does not, but was still more than adequate - can't have it all, all the time... The views within the park are awesome - mountains nearly surround the park. The location is excellent and super convenient for touring Rocky Mountain NP. No road noise noticed from the road leading into the park. A nice bonus is the fact the park's location does not require one to drive across / through the town of Estes Park which seems to have heavy traffic from 11:00 A. M. until after 7:00 P. M. One recommendation is to ask for a site toward the rear of the park in order to be most far away from in-park vehicle traffic which kicks up dirt/dust. Hope to return again. We stayed nine (9) nights and could see ourselves staying a month as nice park, town, restaurants, and no biting flies or other bugs. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like scenic drives, County Road 43 is an absolute MUST. CR43 is also known as Devil's Gulch Road and goes down into a mini-canyon. The road was obviously just completed as it was brand new / perfect. Also, if you dare Indian food, the Himalayan Curry & Kebob was delicious! Had to dine there twice during our nine day visit. Baba's burger and gyro restaurant has great reviews but we found their elk and buffalo burgers to be VERY bland.

This was an excellent park. Yes the sites are close, but the views were amazing. There is no question we will be back to this campground. The way the park is set up, you will always have a view of the surrounding area. The other negative is the slope of the sites. This also becomes a positive which gives you the excellent views. The park has some nice sites. Ours was not one of them. The site was unlevel, left front tire off the ground. No level spot for picnic table. Close to neighbors. It is close and convenient to Rocky Mountain National Park. Would look for alternates next time, or specify site. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Camped here with a group of 7 families and every one of us enjoyed this campground. Two families rented the cabins and they were nice, clean places to stay. There were complaints about the hide a bed being a little rough to sleep on but that was it. My only complaint was that the bath houses nearest our campsite were closed for our entire 1 week stay (idky). Dusty roads? Not at our campsite. Rude staff? Nope. Quite pleasant. In fact, they called my cell to inquire about an extra vehicle on our site that wasn't registered (my motorcycle). They asked me to stop in at my convenience, which I did, and they were very easy to deal with. The staff was always waiving and saying "Hi" while driving around in their golf carts. The pool was very clean as well. The sites weren't huge but we had plenty of room without feeling cramped. You really couldn't be closer to RMNP than this place and the views from the campground were amazing all on its own. For what it's worth, I wrote $60 as the price paid but I really don't remember. This was our 6th year staying at Elk Meadow. You can't beat the location. The sites are spaced fairly well - especially if you are on the "G" row. I wold have rated it a "7" if it were not for the beautiful area, views from the park, and the proximity to RMNP. There are problems. First, the roads are horrible and need a major upgrade. Second, due to some of the slopes on the hills, you can end up with a very unlevel site or a site where your sewer connector is much higher than your sewer outlet on your RV. Third, is the dust. Since the roads are not paved, the wind just creates dust storms that are almost unbearable if you are sitting outside. So: to the folks at Elk Meadow - please pave the roads, level the sites, and fix the height of some of the sewer connections. Once you do that you will truly have a world-class park that is worthy of a "10". We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
