This campground's location near Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park are what drives the price for staying here. We had read previous members' comments, so we were not surprised by the tight quarters. We knew we would be off the grounds the majority of our stay, so the spacing was not a major concern on this trip. We would stay here again under similar circumstances. Since we were in an RV site, we did not hear a lot of road noise, but if you are staying in a tent, you will hear traffic. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the train for kids was cute, and they offer breakfast and ice cream socials as well as a shuttle, which we did not use. There is so much to do in the area, so if you don't plan on hanging out at the campground you will be fine. Parking can be an issue - we parked in an empty site beside us the first night, thanks to the staff member telling us it would be unoccupied. The next night we had to ask our neighbor if we could back in in front of them, and they graciously agreed. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The drive up to the Alpine Visitor's Center on the one-way dirt road was amazingly beautiful, but not for the faint-of-heart! We also discovered a lovely walking path behind the main drag in Estes Park.

Sardines comes to mind. Spacing between units was extremely close. Parking was almost impossible for towed vehicle. there was always a concern my tow car might get hit by another vehicle coming through. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Motorhome.

This was a rather small KOA. We were welcomed when we arrived and escorted to our site. Staff was very friendly. Bathrooms and showers were older looking but very clean. Sites were gravel but most were flat. Roads are very narrow and not easy to negotiate. Sites were small and very close together. Park is not big rig friendly. Luckily we have a class b so not a problem for us. But if we still had our 45' DP it would have been a different story.

One nice thing is that there is a free shuttle service that picks up right at the KOA. You can ride the shuttles right down town or even up into Rocky Mountain National Park. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed in our pickup camper and had a great time. The owners and hosts are really nice people who know their jobs. The restrooms were very clean as well as the rest of the property. The families with children enjoyed the free train rides, the ice cream social, karaoke and the log fire for the Friday night marshmallow roast. The onsite breakfast was reasonably priced and tasty. We liked the place so well we made reservations to return later this year. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Truck Camper.

Sites were very close together; no room for canopy from our camper. Expected Estes-Park amenities (trees, park feeling, etc.) but there were none. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Town of Estes Park - both old and new parts - was within 5-6 miles; very enjoyable. Rocky Mountain National Park with beautiful drives and park scenery was close by. Boulder is one hour away; we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Frasca in Boulder - pricy but excellent food, wine, service.

We were able to get a site on short notice, very kind and helpful staff! Sites were a little close and we couldn't use our awning, no big deal for a one night stay. We only used water and electric. Dump station easy to get to, although we had to drive up on a board to get our camper high enough to use it. Park Showers get busy by 8am so plan accordingly. Nice location as far as getting groceries and shopping in Estes Park, and great views of the mountains. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Folks are very nice and accommodating. Sites are really tight. It is next to a riding stable with about 50 horses, so downwind is interesting. If dry, it is very dusty. The cable just change, so one had to ask for a "box" to view. No one told us that until the last day. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We camped with our two adult kids, their spouses, and 8 grandkids under 9 years of age. We stayed in our truck camper and they each had a tent site on either side of us. This campground is great for a big family get together as they have a wonderful play area for the little ones, a neat and free train ride every evening, a smore's fire on Friday nights, and Ice cream socials on other evenings. The breakfast the campground offered really helped with so many hungry kids every morning. The grandkids cried when they left to go home. The other things to do in Estes Park made everyone happy. We have already made a reservation for September, 2016. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Truck Camper.

We visit Estes Park fairly often, mainly for hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park and to explore the picturesque Mountain town. This was our first stay at the KOA; we've been hesitant to stay here due to the small campsites. After reading reviews and driving by when the campground is full most of the sites are really tight. Having seen a map as well as doing a google satellite view we noticed the end row sites being quite a bit larger than the others. We phoned the campground directly well in advance and requested an end row site, we were fortunate and were able to get our desired site, it had full services including excellent wifi coverage and Cable TV. Cleanliness and service at this campground was great. Both Jim the owner and Bud, the KOA work camper were amazing, driving around lots chatting with the campers, really going out of their way to make people feel welcome. There is a free shuttle into Estes Park, we didn't use this but certainly a convenient feature. We will definitely stay here again. The campground really is in a great location, extremely clean and has great customer service. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Request an end of row site; 29, 37 and 48 are all really nice.
Don't hang out at your site all day, there really is so much to see in this beautiful area. The campground is convenient to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Take time to explore both, chances are you'll see Elk.

Upon entering the campground, you must park on a steep grade while registering. Then you are escorted to your site and the escort assists with parking. This assistance is essential because the sites are so tightly packed that there is no margin for error. If you have a slide out on the left, you will not be able to fully extend your awning.

My pedestal had a high steel divider just below the socket for my 30 amp cord. The divider needed a cutout to let the cord hang naturally, but there was none. Instead I had to use a hard bend in the cord to get around the ridge, which compromised the security of the plug in the socket.

The campground consists of flat terraced areas carved out of a steep hillside. The gravel sites are level and hookups were appropriately located. Main roads are paved but narrow with tight turns. There was insufficient room to park my tow vehicle at my site; I had to use a parking space about a hundred feet away.

It was wonderfully quiet at night, but I was awakened at 5AM one morning by a neighbor's alarm clock. Another neighbor deployed his awning to within 2 feet of the side of my trailer.

Restrooms were clean and very useable although showers were small and tight. On weekdays the park was not full, but on weekends it was packed with no room to spare. Overall, the ambiance was that of a tightly packed parking lot.

I would not recommend this park and I will not return. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The term sardines comes to mind. Extremely close sites. They try to fill every square inch of space. Big rigs should certainly avoid this place. We had a back in space for a 35 feet motorhome, with an unusable table at the rear. The site was so narrow, we could not put out the awning, it would have touched our neighbors slide out. Restrooms are totally inadequate. One urinal and two stalls in the men's room. Estes Park is beautiful, but we will not return to this park. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Motorhome.

Great park for exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. Staff very friendly and helpful. Like all parks in Estes Park, grass is at a premium and spaces are tight. Very clean park, good cable, and good Wi-Fi. Nice location. Would stay here again. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Motorhome.
