We stayed 3 nights. Excellent facility. Level sites with concrete pads and 50 amp service. Close to CO national monument and just off the street. I would have thought it was noisy but it wasn't at all. Bike path connects to park. Very clean and neat. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a great park very well laid out and very easy to get into sites. We had a pull through site with full hook up. The pads are concrete and asphalt leading into the concrete. There is a covered picnic table along with fire ring all in a gravel area off the concrete pad. The staff was very friendly and willing to help in any way they could. The view of the National Monument from the park is fabulous. Wished we lived closer so we could come back on a regular basis. The only negative is no WIFI or cable TV, however, phone signal was good so we could use our hot spot. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Our site was a reasonably long, level, paved pull-through with full hookup. There is no wifi, but AT&T coverage is good. Sites have a very nice covered patio with picnic table. They water the grass, and our toad and RV were thoroughly sprayed. Other sites were watered in mid-afternoon. There is a long walking trail along the Colorado river, and numerous grassy areas in which dogs can walk. The park is close to the Colorado National Monument. Campground hosts keep the place really clean, but apparently don't monitor the lawn sprinklers. Trains come through closely in the middle of the night. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

This is a great park and if it had been further from I-70 it would rate an 10+ rating. Wonderful level concrete pads with clean gravel area and a permanent shade shelter over the picnic table. Only draw back was some freeway noise. We would stay again. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Fifth Wheel.

Nightly rate was for site without sewer and does not include the CO daily fee if you do not have an annual pass. All in at $31 night this is a steal for what you get. This is our 3rd time here. We love the CO State Parks! Easy freeway access, great interior roads, level long pull thru site, shaded picnic table, great hook-ups, clean facilities, what's not to like? As for outside noise - our A/c's were running so didn't hear a thing in the coach. Lots of space to walk the dog. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

Stopped here as a staging point for taking Scenic 128 into Moab the next morning. Had most of the afternoon so got the wife a one day fishing license and she did some trout fishing in the park lake while I did a little hiking. She did catch one trout and lost several others. Clean campground. The $35 includes the state permit. I believe the showers cost $1 for 4 min. Clean showers and restrooms. Hot water. Would stay again. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Travel Trailer.

Didn't particularly like the surroundings (unattractive and right off highway), but it has all the conveniences one needs and is situated nearby various outdoor activities. Lot spacing was nearby with generally sunny/open exposures. Site surface was a concrete pad featuring a fire ring and picnic table. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Mosquitoes can be horrendous: bring spray AND plan to stay in at certain times of day. Incredibly hot in summer: unbearably so at times.

All of the Colorado State Parks we stayed over the years are top notch, and this is no exception. Clean, well maintained, and great staff. Located next to the Colorado river, with lots of biking and casual walking choices. Good shopping nearby, and while we were there a weekend Mt. Bike and Microbrewery Festival took place in town. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Travel Trailer.

The majority of the lots are pull through. The rig faces away from the road so you do have privacy. The lots have a small covered picnic area. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Fifth Wheel.

This state park is truly a gem, with large, well spaced sites, picnic shelters, and a few small shade trees. It is right on the Colorado River, thus activities abound. We were walk-ins on a Saturday with no reservation, and were assigned a handicap site, which was admittedly above average. The ranger's evening presentation (on coyotes) was excellent. On the down side, there is no free WiFi, and once the sun sets, mosquitoes will eat you alive. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at James M. Easy access on/off I-70. Very nice state park, with token state entrance fee. Paved roadways and several elbow-access concrete pad sites throughout. Real good privacy. Metal grate picnic tables with timber/tin canopies. Mature vegetation, shrubs, with limited big trees. No wifi internet (drawback). Very clean washrooms; showers were coin operated. Outstanding mountain views. Great for an overnight stay or destination place. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

We arrived without reservations, but ended up with one of the nicest sites in the park. Electric-only, not FHU, but well-landscaped and maintained, concrete-slab site with nice shade. There were no other sites behind ours, so it was fairly private as well. We will be back! We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Fifth Wheel.

There are 2 parks in this state park. One at Fruita and one closer to Grand Junction. Easy access from I70, big rig access, paved roads, level concrete/paved sites with covered picnic table/fireplace and no interstate noise (dark and quiet). Our site was only electric/water which is, $20 plus $7 park fee per day. Full hookup sites are $24.00 plus $7. Spacious sites, friendly service, visitor's center, river access, dump station, trails and very clean. Overall, beautiful state park and will visit again. Note: some walk up sites, but check website for availability first. We were fortunate and there were 10 available. There is not a bad site as most are pull thrus. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

$24 per night was for a level concrete pad site with full hookups, sheltered picnic table, and fire ring. The campground has many large trees as well as low growing plants/grass separating the generous sites. The park staff was very friendly and helpful. Many activities are available in and around the park. Nearby Grand Junction has everything anyone might need. AT&T & Verizon service were five bars of 4G LTE. We used our Milliencom jetpack for internet access. There were 12 OTA TV stations. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.
