Very nice, modern campground with concrete sites and gravel patios. Each site has a covered picnic table. The sites are well designed, very level, and large enough for most RVs. Sites are well spaced. The laundry was clean and reasonable. All hookups worked well. The location is great for visiting The Colorado Monument and The Grand Mesa. We toured the Island Campground section of this state park and it was not nearly as nice. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Travel Trailer.

This being a state park in CO, you do have to pay a daily fee on top of the camp fee. We have an annual pass but I believe the daily fee was $7. We were pleasantly surprised to have FHU in a state park. All utilities worked well. There is lots to do (fishing, playground, trails, bikes) but it was too hot for us to get out and enjoy them. Temps in mid-90s and not much shade at our site. Some sites had more shade than others. They were all pull-thru sites. Satellite, no problem, AT&T and Verizon, good coverage. Very close to the Colorado National Monument. If there was a down side, it would be that they have a sprinkler system that runs a lot and it left spray on our vehicle that we had just washed! Would stay here again. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Fifth Wheel.

We really liked this campground. The spots are very private and spacious. There is a paved path next to the Colorado River where I rarely saw other people (or dogs). There is a nice trail around the lake. We had a problem with our RV on the day we were leaving and the staff was very helpful. My only complaints were that the grass around our camp site and other areas around the park really needed mowing and that there was a lot of goose poop near the water. Even so, we would definitely return. Actually, we didn't really want to leave. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

Beautiful little park with concrete pads, pull thrus, and nice little shelters over the picnic tables. Very close and convenient to Grand Junction, yet peaceful quiet in a nature surrounding. The bike trail/walkway into Fruita is a nice plus. We would definitely stay here again. Colorado State Parks are the best -- buy the annual pass for $70.00 it will pay for itself in 10 days. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Travel Trailer.

Made a reservation and the rate was $24 but when we got to the gate we had to pay a vehicle fee. I don't know how they thought we would get there with a travel trailer if we didn't have a tow vehicle. A little irritating. Showers are a buck for four minutes of cold water. Park is otherwise nicely maintained. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Travel Trailer.

I also liked this campground very much. I listed the fee for an electric and water site, but the reservation fee adds another $10 for a one-night stay. I already bought a $70 annual Colorado State Park pass since I am going to spend quite a bit of time at state parks here, but you do need to know that there is also a $7 per day fee beyond the campsite fee. That can make this expensive for one night. I liked paved campsites and was happy to find a laundry room with three washers and three dryers, PLUS a change machine! My pull-through site was large and very clean, plus I was able to get 3 bars of Verizon data and good voice coverage. This campground is near stores, but also very close to the Colorado River, so it does not seem cramped or noisy. I want to come back here next year when it is not so hot and I can stay longer to take advantage of the paved bike trail along the river. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

This is a very modern and nice campground that has a lot going for it. Sites are nicely spaced with a fair bit of privacy, perfectly level concrete pads, large gravel patios with shelter roofs, wide smooth roads, and full hookups available for a great price. It's a short walk down to the Colorado River for our Lab to get wet before longer walks around the campground or the paved sidewalk to the community center. Verizon and AT&T both had strong signal and fast speeds. It's only a mile or two to restaurants and stores in the small but cute town of Fruita, and not much farther to all that Grand Junction offers. Check-in was smooth and friendly and our annual CO parks pass was still active from last year so we didn't have extra admission fees. Our only problem with the campground was the inescapable swarms of biting mosquitoes. We couldn't go outside our RV for more than a few seconds without getting lots of bites. This one factor made our stay considerably less enjoyable and is why I can't give the park a perfect score. Mosquitoes are a fact of life and we use repellent in plenty of parks, but the ones here were some of the worst we've encountered. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

We really liked this state park. Check in went fine... we had to pay an extra $7 for the park entrance fee, but knew that ahead of time. We purchased 2 bundles of fire wood which were very dry. The sites were very spacious, with low foliage to give privacy between sites. Loved our site, right along the edge, but if the day use area was full, we would have had to look at a lot of parked cars. Each site had a great fire ring, covered picnic table, and beautiful paved pad and pebble sitting area. You could see the freeway and town, but the road noise was very minimal and it was nice to be so close to it. Beautiful area. Could definitely see staying there again. Would love to explore the monument area next time. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

The park itself was well located for our travels. This is our first time to stay in a Colorado park. We are from Texas and are very familiar with our state parks. Our stay in Colorado is after spending several weeks in state parks in AZ and UT. We stopped at the rv park across the street from the park entrance to get propane. While there, we unhooked our toad. When we got to the state park entrance, the woman at the visitor center informed us that we would have to pay an extra entrance fee for the car because we had detached it. She said that we could go back around and reattach and then reenter the park and not have to pay the extra fee. My husband came up during this discussion and she informed him of the RULES. I told him that this park had negative reviews on Yelp because of the customer service at the entrance. The woman at the gate then said to me so you must have known the rules since you read the reviews. We were tired at this point so I just paid the difference and we went to our campsite. The campsite itself was great. I hope that the customer service was an anomaly and not indicative of Colorado state parks. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

This is a gem of a State Park, with very helpful and friendly staff at check in. Interior roads are nice and wide and big rig friendly, all well laid out and easy to get to sites. Our full hook up site was very spacious, with plenty of room for our towed. Our concrete pad was a long and level pull through with plenty of privacy between sites, there was some grass and shade trees. All sites have a shaded picnic table, and fire ring in a gravel area off the main pad. We had wonderful views of the mountains and it was very quiet. The bathrooms were modern and clean and the laundry was well equipped with four washers and four dryers and spotlessly clean. Very pet friendly with plenty of places to walk your pet, on a leash of course! No Wifi but cell was fine. The Colorado River is next to the park and there is also a bike path that connects to the park. Food stores, restaurants are close by, and of course the incredible Colorado National Monument is a must see! We would most definitely stay here again, the camp ground hosts work so hard to keep this park looking immaculate, this is how all parks should be run and maintained. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

Very nice state park with nice trails to walk along the river. All utilities worked well. No WiFi or cable but got a few channels on the bat wing. Quiet night, didn't hear any trains and highway noise was just muted background sounds. Nice level concrete pads, paved roads and covered tables. Very nice restroom facilities with a laundromat. Easily accessible gas station at the exit. Lots of extra fees however with $28 camp fee, $7 entrance fee and $10 reservation fee plus pay showers ($1 for 4 minutes) so not necessarily a good value. The real value is it's wide open and spacious so you're not camping on top of one another. I would stay again. We camped at James M. Easy to get in/out from I-70 and around the park. Paved roads and sites. Sites are level. My two criticisms of the site are the bad/short angle entering my pull-thru with a long rig and a big rock caused much frustration. Secondly the fire pit is right next to the pad, only a few feet from the RV. Utilities worked well (extremely high water pressure, use your regulator). No Wifi, Verizon signal strong. Pros: This is a beautiful, fairly new park. The grounds were meticulously maintained and the restroom/laundry room were spotless. There are a ton of outlets in the laundry room and adjoining sitting room. Washers were $1.50 and dryers were $1.00 for 45 minutes, decent prices. Each site has a picnic table with shade shelter. Walking distance to shopping center with convenience store, liquor store, fast food and a good Mexican restaurant. Cons: pull thrus have shelter roof right along parking pad on passenger side and utility stanchion is right next to the line on the drivers side. If you have a big rig with pull outs on both sides or one on drivers side and want to use your awning you may not fit. Suggest you try back in site instead. They have a lot more side room and are quite long. Also half the lighting was out in the laundry room making it very dark, the change machine was broken, and the "suggestion box" had neither cards nor pencil. Probably so I wouldn't complain about the poor lighting! :). Also the showers are a big rip off at $1.00 for 4 minutes and the $7/day "entrance fee" on top of the camping fee is just stupid. Charge what you need to and don't nickel and dime users to death!

Might try the RV park across the road next time since it's only a few dollars more, looked really nice, and supposedly has wi-fi (although they ALL say they do and most don't work worth a darn!). Otherwise, I would still stay here again. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Truck Camper.
