We took Exit 19 off of I-70 and stopped at the Visitor Center and Vietnam Memorial wall. Leaving this rest stop/visitor center takes you through two traffic roundabouts and not more than a few blocks to the campground. The staff was very accommodating. We were given the longest space we've ever had. Our 36' trailer with a 3' hitch and a 20' long truck fit with space left over. Watch out for wasps in June (and probably other months). I noticed a park employee watering the plants and asked him to address the wasp nests in our power pole and he immediately grabbed the wasp-kill spray that was handy on his golf-cart and took care of them. Good park. We stayed two days. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

You'd be hard pressed to find a friendlier staff. The campground itself is very well kept and has very nice amenities such as a camp store and propane refills. I was even able to buy a longer coax cable for our TV. There are multiple restaurants within easy walking distance. This is not a wilderness experience at all, but it is literally across the road from a state park and the Colorado National Monument is only a few miles away. Tips for other Campers:

Rib City Grill is excellent for barbecue and El Tapatio has great Mexican food. It looked like a new brew pub had just opened up a couple of blocks to the northeast, behind Rib City but we didn't make it there.

We stopped here for one night. We were very pleased with this place. The managers could not have been more helpful. We were given a backin site that looked like it was especially set up for one night stop overs. The site was very long to accommodate both our trailer and tow vehicle. The manager showed us our site, and he was available to help us back in if needed. They offer free coffee in the morning. We recommend this campground. It is close to Colorado Natl Monument and Colorado river. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

I enjoyed my stay at moument RV resort, as I was given a very nice back-in, water and electric site on grass next to the cabins. My rear dinette overlooked a white picket fence and the Colorado monument and my front door opened to a nice, grass area between my site and the cabins. Were my trailer not equipped with black out fan covers and window shades, I would have been very annoyed by the extremely bright street light hanging directly over my site. Location is fantastic--ything and easy access to the state park, the monument and tons of shopping. Staff was very friendly. I would not stay here in a full hookup pullthroughs, as they are way too close together and crowded with no views or outdoor space. But my back in water and electric only was great, other than the street light. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Camping here is poor. All roads and places to park are dirt with a lot of dust. The sites are so tight to one another it's hard to back in and the area to use for backing in has almost no room to maneuver.

I would not recommend this camp ground or come back here again. There are no sites by the lake just cut outs on the side of the mountain.

There are no fire rings or picnic tables. Our power pedestal was damaged with only 30 amp service with 110 volt plug ins. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This place is a joke. Be prepared to read every line of the rules when you check in, BEFORE you pay. Many, many rules to which you must comply, and no refunds. The manager is cranky, unhelpful, and downright rude.

Wifi is terrible too.

It's clean though, and in a good location.

I've been traveling for four years and have stayed in a lot of RV Parks. I have never felt compelled to write a bad review before I stayed here. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This park is clean and tidy. The sites are close together and are all gravel. They have picnic tables and built in BBQ grills. The small pool and spa were clean, although I didn't have time to try them out. The fenced in dog area is quite small and all gravel, but the state park directly across the street has a walking path, and there is a sidewalk adjacent to the park where you can take a stroll with your dog, and enjoy the scenic view of the Colorado National Monument, and the mesas. It's located just a couple minutes drive from the Monument. The park seemed to fill up nightly over the weekend we were there. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The rest rooms and showers were clean but few in number. The sites were very close together; lots of big rigs, no shade. They advertise as being pet friendly but definitely are not! The only area dogs are allowed in is an 8'X10', gravel "pet run." No grass anywhere. WiFi worked but instructions to get on internet are obscure, CATV was okay. Since there was practically nowhere to walk our dog, I'm glad we only stayed one night and won't be returning. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Nice clean park. The check in was great and the ladies informative. The Wi-Fi was too slow to fool with and I was almost next to the office. There are paved roads, but the sites are gravel. We had a long pull-through site so we did not have to disconnect. I would stay here again if need to. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Easy access location, 1/4 mile off I-70. Right next to a few gas stations, fast food, and Mexican Restaurant. Sites are gravel, close together, fairly level, and long enough not to have to unhook. Interior roads are paved and wide. The laundry and restrooms were well maintained. The office woman was a little grumpy. Their WiFi, Tengo Internet, worked fine. We had a water/electric site, where there was no Cable TV. Cable TV only available in full hookup sites. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We've stayed here every time we've passed through the I-70 corridor. It is great when it is uncrowded, but when it is nearly full, it is not. Side by side hookups make for narrow sites and lack of privacy. Nice and helpful staff, and plenty of shopping for basics within a half mile. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this park because of its proximity to the Colorado National Monument. It has paved roads and gravel sites. There are a few trees but overall it looks like a desert campground. The campground was quiet and well kept. The restrooms were clean and new. The pool was very small but we did not use it so it was immaterial to us. It is convenient to the interstate and to Grand Junction. The cable offered several channels and I didn't mind paying for the internet (4.95/day or 14.95/week) because it was fast and reliable. If visiting the same area, we would stay here again. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We stopped in here for just one night. We got there late and had to check ourselves in. The check in process was pretty simple. Everything we saw of this campground looked really good. The location is nice with a Colorado visitor center next door. The one drawback is that they offer internet access but it is not free. Good for an overnight stay We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
