Oh my goodness, "rundown" is an understatement. I didn't use the restrooms because I was afraid of what might be growing in there. The train noise was deafening. I didn't sleep all night. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I would never come back. The one bright spot was the restaurant. The Pepperpod Restaurant was wonderful!! Good food. Date of Stay: October, 2007 - $27.00
The campground is located immediately off Interstate , so there is some highway noise and is behind the Pepper Pod restaurant. It is basically "carved out" of the back lot and each campsite is white rock pads on dirt/gravel drives. There is little or no shade or privacy and the sites are close together. It appears to be an old facility that is maintained to the basic minimum. A huge drawback is the railroad the runs within feet of the back property line and coal trains go by every half hour day and night. They blow the horns upon entering the town and all the way through. Don't plan on sleeping through this. It is barely acceptable as an overnight stay because it is run down, minimally maintained and train noisy. This is too bad because there is a desperate need for a nice RV park east of Denver on I-76. We camped at Pepper Pod in a Travel Trailer.Undo
