A cute little park. The area approaching the park is questionable until you get into the park. They have done a beautiful job with the welcoming and common areas. We paid for a premium spot which is suppose to back up to a river. However, don't pay for that premium spot. The river is not running and the rock bed is full of trash limbs. There is a rancher/farmer on the other side of the river so you can at least enjoy seeing the horses, goats, donkeys, etc... If I were to come back, we would request a spot in the middle section directly across from the river sites. The other negative I have for this park is that there are no pull through sites... We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Motorhome.

About 15 minutes up the road is the little village called Cuchara. Fun, beautiful drive there! Stop and have a quick bite.

We stayed a week, and had one of the "river" sites. However, the river by dry! Big time drought in the area! However, we still enjoyed the stay. I'd echo what a previous posted said about only 3 broadcast television stations available.... However, they have a ton of loaner DVDs in the came room available for free. We enjoyed this park very much. The owners are doing a great job. I am sure this is the best park in town. Mule deer roam freely thru the park... and all over town for that matter. It's a bit dusty, but I attribute that to the drought. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out Cuchara, Cuchara Pass, and Cordova Pass! Also, the downtown market has reasonable prices considering where they are. Lastly, the corner diner at the south end of town (down the main drag) has the best BLT sandwich, and some of the best onion rings I'v had anywhere. We also visited Huerfano Community Bible Church in Walsenberg, I highly recommend it as well! We really liked LaVeta, hope you do too!

This was an overnight stay for us. Gravel roads to the campground and inside the area. WiFi was excellent. Cable was not available (3 stations over the air). Utilities were great. Staff and other campers very kind-some have been coming here for 30 years! Sites wide enough that we had a bit of privacy. New owners are working hard to upgrade the campground. Trees are planted between sites that will grow. We never saw the river. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Really nice people who care about their customers, but overpriced for what you get. I suppose it is the area. Level 30/50 amp back in gravel full hookup sites. A gameroom but nothing much else in amenities. Pets are allowed but there is no place to walk them other than the roads. $40 plus tax for 30 amp, $42 for 50 amp, and $45 for 50 amp on the creek. Good wifi, no cable but you can get satellite in some sites, cell iffy. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Quaint little park at the end of a dirt road--very quiet, no road noises. Sites are long, level, gravel back in. Just a few 50 amp sites, which are mostly taken. Good wi fi, no TV at all. Excellent restrooms, laundry, community room with large lending library, and DVD lending library in office. Some shade. Owners are super. When my husband developed breathing problems after one night, our money was quickly refunded for the rest of our stay. Not many parks will do that! Would love to come back but probably can't because of the altitude. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Motorhome.

The child's cone at Charlies for $1 was ample--several scoops. Take the Scenic Drive on Highway 12.

This is a small park run by very friendly folks. It's a little out of the way for an overnight, but it was beautifully quiet and it had excellent WiFi. For us, the only thing that would have made it better would have been a hot tub or swimming pool. Also, the sites in the park are all backins. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were there for 2 days, but did not spend much time at the campground. We went sight seeing and had a great time.

The campground is small. The people we met there come to spend the summer there. A nice place though a bit pricey. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

They have a very limited number of 50 amp spots, so check on that if you require that. We were there with a group & they were very accommodating to us all. Site was back-in & was pretty level.

Delightful park on a dead end road with level gravel site that backed up to a creek. Easy utility connections, very usable wifi, well cared-for grounds with attractive sitting areas near office building. Good Verizon signal. Beautiful views of the Spanish Peaks. Overall Rating:

I'd give this a 10, but since it doesn't have cable or pull-throughs, I figured some would take issue with it. The new owners have only been here a month, but have have done a great amount of work. Everything has a fresh coat of paint; all sites are well groomed with fresh gravel everywhere, with grass between sites. Sites are level, and hookups are excellent. Very helpful owners. Nicely treed with plenty of clearance for rigs with some sites open without trees. 50 and 30 amp available with clean power. 50 amp sites all back up to babbling brook. We loved our stay and will definitely return. Great mountain views from sites. A great experience. This is a quaint, quiet campground, not a resort. Close to lots of things for day trips. Don't miss the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park an hour away. I'd praise it even more, but I want my site available when I return......just kidding, we love it. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a quiet, clean, friendly campground with some sites with larger trees for shade. The owner is very nice. Videos are loaned for free and the laundry is free, also. We only stayed one night, but we would come back if we were in the area. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park, easy to get to from Hwy 12. Entry road and park have gravel roadways but was well maintained. Very friendly owner on site. The park itself was quite clean and well maintained. Glass, paper, and aluminum recycling on premises. Note that not all sites have 50amp service, so if you must have 50 amps, be sure to specify this when you call for reservations. We stayed in site 40 with a 40' motorhome and toad. We would visit here again. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Motorhome.
