The new owners of this park are very friendly and helpful. They took over in October, 2017 and seem to be working to improve the park. It is very clean. The utilities are side-by-side. Spaces could be better defined, but they are spacious. We did not have to unhook our towed vehicle. The laundry was clean and reasonably priced. The central meeting area was very pleasant and would be a good spot to meet if traveling with more than one unit. We did not use their wi-fi, but our AT&T hotspot worked well. The park was extremely quiet. We would definitely return here. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was an overnight stay in our 44Ft Motorhome. Currently they only have around 22 or so sites but the area is large and spacious. This park was purchased by the new owners and they could not be better hosts. It's what you like to see as a paying customer. They have many plans to upgrade and improve the amenities. The place has some nice outdoor areas, they offer coffee and fruit in the morning. As mentioned, they do not have cable but you can stream. Hookups are newer, good water pressure, all level sites on grey gravel. It is in the high plains so windy in the afternoons. Pricing is very reasonable and main club house is nicely done and welcoming. Give it a try, especially considering there are only two places in this area and this one is the one you want to stay at. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Motorhome.

Unusual layout for parking campers. They laid it out like a circle as the old wagon trains did. Hook-ups were side by side. If you didn't unhook your camper or toad, the camper next to you couldn't get out of his site. Sites were level and the surface was fine stone. New owners in the process of figuring out what they want to do to the park. Previous owners didn't seem to know anything about RV parks and had a hodge podge of things in the center of the park, including a couple of dinosaurs. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Motorhome.

For where it is at I gave it a 10. Never been there before but found it the perfect spot to stop. The owners where super nice and very helpful. When passing through a town you never know what to expect and this very convenient place to stop exceeded our expectations. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rate quoted is average of monthly rate. Going into 4th week (contract worker) here. New owners are doing something every day to turn this business around. It is apparent that the old reviews of this place don't apply to what I'm seeing now. I LOVE the site I'm in (24, south facing and wide open west view GREAT sunsets) for the view of open fields.

Horses are no longer allowed on-site, which might have explained previous reviews complaining about flies. Haven't had any problem with them.

Check-in was organized, warm and helpful. Any questions I've had have been attended to immediately and graciously. Getting into site and setting up was easy. All sites are pull-thru in a kind of 'circle the wagons' fashion. (Look at RV park on Google Earth to see configuration). Leveling was a snap, site is covered with nice size walkable gravel, some sites more sand than gravel. Power checked out clean on power management box. Water spigot is share between two sites with a splitter in place. Even with a neighbor, I have good water flow. Quality-very alkaline, leaves spots on everything, but that's beyond owner control. I drink Glacier water anyway, so I just have to dry the dishes instead of air dry with spots.

Every day I return to RV I see results of younger, energetic owners with a vision of an oasis in the prairie. Daisies planted this week, more removal of odd landscape features and odds and ends debris (previous owners).

They have cleaned up the covered central area that would be perfect for those traveling in a caravan to hang out to BBQ or socialize outside out of the sun. There is a fenced, lighted dog area with benches, bags and trash cans to let your dog stretch his legs. Tiny quail and rabbits run around, and there are two chickens (pets) in an enclosure under the trees that my dogs love to go visit. On days that the wind isn't howling we all enjoy a walk around the park, with trash cans conveniently spaced to drop dog doo into. Best feature is the quiet at night. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Two Buttes Reservoir 26 miles south of Lamar, go to the "Black Hole" area for picnic (picnic table, pit toilet, lots of birdwatching, sheltered from howling wind). Shooting ranges at Two Buttes, and one 6 miles east of Lamar on Hwy 50 (Brown sign south side of road Higbee WMA).

Summer is snake season! Almost tripped on rattler last week, sunning in the middle of a gravel country road. Keep dogs on leash!! Have NOT seen any snakes inside the RV park...so far.

New owners and they are in the process of remodeling, but they were super nice and helpful. The park is kinda cute. Not what we expected. Laundry room, free fast WiFi. Full hookups. Huge sites. A little noise from the highway but not too bad. Great value. We will return. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Motorhome.

As an overnight stop park is OK. The motel part is pretty run down and the RV sites are pretty much on the edge of the parking lot. A little strange but it works. Power, water and sewer all worked OK. Restroom was rather dirty and you have to pay for a shower if you use - we didn't. Located in a nice little town. Not so sure we would stay again. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This place is only OK for a quick overnight stay. It is easy to get in and out and my site is very level. There are so many flies that I only hooked up electricity and plan on opening the door as little as possible. The site I am in is filthy and next to a run down permanent trailer. There is quite a bit of noise from the road. The lady in the office asked if I had my own satellite and when I said that I did, she said that I wouldn't need their cable then. Unfortunately my site is so filthy I don't even want to set up my satellite. I will not return even for an overnight. $36.00 is ridiculous for this. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This used to be a Passport America member campground but isn't now. It's a motel and RV camp; 8 rooms, 1 "cabin", and 22 full hookup sites. Hookups are functional but old. Sites are nothing but gravel; no grass, no tables, no pads, not quite level. One men's room with pay shower (50 cents/4 minutes), outdated but appeared to be clean. Rules prominent, "NO REFUNDS" also prominent. Free cable TV is available (I used my dish), along with free Wi-Fi that is slow and sometimes fails. All in all too much money for what you get. First off, the Passport America web site includes this park, but they no longer participate in that program. They advertise cable and there is none. They did have good full hookups, water pressure was low, grounds was clean. Was fair for overnighter, but Wal-Mart might have been better. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It is what it is. A gravel parking lot with side by side full hookups to include cable. OK wifi, good Verizon service, quiet, clean. Not all sites have 50 amp though, so if thats important to you make sure you ask. Ok for a night or two at PPA rates but I'd be wanting hookups real bad to pay full freight here with a Walmart in town. The motel part is kind of interesting though. Traveling east on the Santa Fe Trail with wind gusts of 30 mph hitting the side of my trailer I decided to stop for the day at this park. The rate reflects PA discount. The park is bare bones with a motel on site. Everything worked fine - water, electric, cable and WiFi. Good place for an overnight. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice campground with friendly office folks. Mostly dirt and gravel but level pull-through sites. We stayed here overnight on our way to the Tall Grass Prairie Preserve in Kansas. Some road noise. Our rate reflects Passport America rate for full hookups and cable. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Motorhome.

If you mean by "park" a place to put/park your RV, then OK, this is an RV Park. If you mean a park with trees, fresh breezes, hiking trails, etc., then no, this is not that kind of RV park. Sites are gravel, level, and easy to pull through or in to. They are full hookups in the sense that there is electricity, even 50 amp, a sewer connection (sometime needing repair), and water (although the spigot may be 50 feet from where you are parked, so be ready with a long hose). Just an overnight spot. Nothing to write home about. We camped at Sundance High Plains RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
