This is a huge state park south of Littleton, CO with very nice campsites for RVs and others. We did our registration over the Internet, and arrived 10 minutes before the office was supposed to close, but they were already gone. We never went back to the office, but never had any issues. You have to pay daily park access fees (when you first arrive at the park) separate from the RV site fees. The rate I noted reflects the combination of those fees. At the site there was a marker with our name on it, so all was good. The site was asphalt and concrete with a large picnic table and large fire pit/grill. We didn't have a tree but a few sites did. These sites have a huge amount of room between them, and we loved being far away from our neighbors. There is no WiFi that I could get to work (though there was, occasionally, some SSID that showed up which implied there was some WiFi) but the Verizon signal was 2-3 bars, and the over-the-air TV was quite good. We never visited the laundry room or bathrooms. If in the area again we would definitely stay here! We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

Tons of things to do in Littleton and Denver. We ate brunch at Pierre Michel French Bakery and it was superb! Terrific bike trails in and around the park, and lots of wildlife to see.

Was able to get a site at the last minute for our 40' long rig, towing a Jeep. Full hookups and great TV stations (69 digital) just on an antenna. Loop A, site 19 was a nicely organized site with a clean fire ring, and perfectly level concrete pad. There was a big tree that we had to avoid, but not too much of a problem. Could not see the lake from this site and restrooms were a little walk. Nearby playground for kids. The sites are well-spaced apart, and lots of room to sit out. Nice picnic table. We spent time shopping in Littleton which is about a 20 minute drive away. Plan on coming back ASAP and try to get the spaces nearer to the lake. A little pricey for a State park. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Chatfield has "mini-parks" within the Park. There is a swimming beach, a dog off leash area, wildlife viewing, model airplane landing strip, and much more. It also has Group areas where several RVs and picnickers can congregation and stay together.

We stayed here only 1 night passing through Denver with a 35' MH. We would have preferred Cherry Creek SP because it is better shaded. But Chatfield is equivalent in every other respect - nice (pay) showers and bathrooms, paved parking pads, nice gravel picnic area with table, smaller evergreens which give privacy but not relief from the sun. Nice view of foothills in the morning. We still prefer Cherry Creek but this is very nice as a second choice. We're happy with Colorado State Parks, except the pay showers. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

I've lived within 10 miles of Chatfield for over 30 years and have been on the lake hundreds of times but never camped here. What a wonderful surprise this turned out to be. We stayed in 3 different sites over 8 days as we cleared out our nearby house to go full-time in our RV. Very spacious and mostly pull-through sites. They sweep the concrete, rake the rocks and clean-out the fire pit after every camper. Free Wi-Fi was fast and dependable. Plenty of OTA TV stations as well as no trees to block our satellite dish. Strong Verizon signal. Great lake and mountain views from the west side of the C loop - we were in 108 (electric only). D loop is a little more spacious and has mountain views and full hook-ups. We will definitely return. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

As other reviews have noted, the vehicle charge makes it cost steep, but parks aren't cheap to maintain. They say this is the busiest State park in Colorado, and I believe it, but it is still a very nice place to camp. We were in D loop and it was super easy to navigate through, sites were very spacious and comfortable and plenty of room for the biggest of rigs. While we never encountered the hosts, they certainly are doing their job keeping it clean! Would have stayed longer but reservations ran out, and they are booked up for the summer. They do sell some sites at the registration office at 1 PM....BUT DON'T count on getting one for sure. We will definitely go back here next time through. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

Tons to see and do in the area. Botanical gardens are very close, only $5 per car and well worth a visit. Take your shoes off and walk on grass better than golf courses! You could stay busy and never leave the park! Firewood is $5/ bundle, good price.

First time to stay here and this has been an unexpected pleasure. Stayed in C section which is electric only. Lots of space between sites and very quite. Very friendly neighbors even the dogs. Our cat loves this campground. Feels like you are way out in the country but shopping is very close. From May to October be sure to make reservations well in advance. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here many times over the past few years while visiting family in Denver. This and Cherry Creek are your best bet for the Denver area. Great park, large sites, safe, quiet, and lots to do in the park. If you want to stay in the summer, shoulder weekends, or holidays, pay the $10 fee and make a reservation. You will also need a CO day pass, or if you plan to use CO parks at least 8-9 nights in a year, then save on an annual pass. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

The park itself is very quiet and spacious. Needs more shade as it was in the upper 90's while we were here for 2 weeks. They kept the park very clean. Bathrooms and laundry area very clean. Bathrooms only have toilet paper. No soap or paper towels. That's ok though, as I didn't use it much as we had full hookups. My biggest complaint was the water pressure. NONE. I mean none. It barely came out of the faucet or shower. Talked with other people at campsites and they all said the same thing. Just know it will just trickle out when it comes time to shower. Other then no water pressure, this is one of the quiestest parks I have ever stayed it. I would stay here again if I knew the water pressure would be better. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

Our first stop on a six week tour of the US in an RV, so didn't know what to expect. First impressions - wonderful! A very large park with plenty of space and everything appeared to be modern and working. we did think that the CO State parks were expensive - on top of the site fee you need to add $10 booking fee and $8 park fee, not included in the nightly rate. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

Well maintained, beautiful park at the foothills of the Rockies. Sites are F/H and spacious (a lot of shrubs but no shade provided). Huge park with large lake, beach and marina. Great walking/bike trails. Very nice comfort station with very clean restrooms/showers and laundry room. Price is high when adding in reservation fee and daily use fee on top of camping fee. Reservations are recommended. Would return if in the area again. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Because we are locals to the area, we frequent Chatfield quite a bit. Although we didn't stay at Chatfield last year, this year we used it for our first shake-down trip. We had site #10 in A Loop this time. A Loop is a favorite because it is the oldest and the trees are now mature providing some shade depending on site selected. The views on the east side of the loop are great and the marina is within walking distance. Most sites in A Loop are full hookup and everything worked well. Site was level and clean. Only thing I noticed was that the water hookup ran dirty when first setting up and again when leaving. No real concern as we always use a filter, but worth noting. We will be back! We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The reservoir is the major draw for this park, especially in the summertime. I can get crowded out on the water and sometimes the rangers implement a "One boat off, one boat on" rule. Best to launch early and stake out a spot on the beach before it gets busy!

A very large state park with lots of things to do: Biking, boating, fishing, model plane airstrip, camping. You get the picture. In our camping loop D there were a few trees but not many. I think it was a average of one per sight. Lots of room between sites with full hookups and nice level concrete pads for parking. There is plenty of room to park our big motorhome, our car and our friends car when they came to visit. There is a fire ring and picnic table. We would stay here again.
