I don't even know where to start but will try going best to worst. The bathroom is clean enough to be tolerable - didn't use the showers but they appeared to be similar. That's the best. The sites are all gravel and dirt. No grass anywhere. They are literally side by side so slide-outs were within 1-2 feet of neighbor. You have to weave and duck to walk between sites. The whole place is pretty sketchy. We saw one site occupied by someone overhauling his pickup and apparently sleeping in the truck and my parents were nearly run over one night as the sheriff chased a vehicle through the campground. But wait, there's more. The host or ranger or whatever was the most awful, foul-tempered person I've ever encountered in a park. She yelled at people, accused one of our family of having expired license plates (they weren't), and ultimately kicked another one of my family out of the park (no refunds) saying their camper wasn't "legal". The alleged illegal camper was a recent private party purchase so no plates, rather, "In Transit", and keep bill of sale on you at all times, plate within 30 days - which is the law in our home state. Because that's apparently not the law in Colorado, she deemed them illegal and kicked them out (their pickup tow vehicle was plated and licensed). Her reasoning was they need to "keep the riffraff out". See above stories and know they aren't successful at keeping said "riffraff" out and her application of rules is inconsistent at best. We are a family of respectable professionals and retirees gathering for a family event in Colorado and we were treated horribly. Sadly, we had stayed at this park several years ago and it was much nicer and we never encountered such problems - so it has gone downhill fast. I will never ever consider staying here again. Find a Walmart parking lot - you'll be safer, better respected, and not be kicked out. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

It's a good place to stay when passing through Boulder. Some grass and gravel. We stayed overnite, but spoke with people who had been there vacationing and they liked it. Close to activities in the area. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

We were lucky to get the very last site that our rig could fit in - 30 amp electric only. The next day we were able to pull into a newer site with 50 amp and water. Sites are dirt but fairly level. We could not get satellite reception in the first site but were able to get it in the 2nd site. This is a very bare bones park with an automated system for paying. It's not possible to find an available site without using the machine which makes finding a site very difficult. You need to walk through and find sites without RVs and then go to the machine and plug in the site number to see if it's available. I will say the 2 park "rangers" were very helpful. We were here for a family reunion and all parks in the area from Denver north were full. Our reservation at a real park was mixed up so we had no choice but to stay here. It isn't bad for overnight if you can get in. Arrive early and hope! We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

As others have said, this is not a destination resort but a convenient overnight campground with either electric or water hookup for $20. Check in is fully automated and takes cash or credit. There is also a sewer dump which is free for campers. I found a shady pull-thru site which was reasonably level. Aside from some geese that honk their way through the park, this is a quiet campground. Some workers [convicts?] were planting flowers while I was there but some of the back-in sites were overgrown with weeds. The only problem is that the interior roads and sites are dirt and after thunderstorms the previous night there were a few muddy areas. I would stay here again. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is sort of an emergency campground to stay in when there is no other place available. There is a newer section suitable for long RV and an older section, in which we stayed, as the newer section was full. The RV sites in the older section are short and narrow. When our 4 slide outs were extended,. there was not room to walk around the RV. There was not room to park the car in our site. The bathrooms were marginally clean, with two of the four sinks stopped up an unable to drain in a normal way. As stated in other reviews, there is no sewer hook-up. The park really is not managed. One can not make reservations, so it is first-come to get a site. There is no one in charge on the premises, much of the time. We would stay in this park again, if there was no recourse except for Walmart and even then Walmart may be preferable.. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here because we were visiting our children in Boulder and rv parks in this area are few and far between. This park is certainly not well kept. There is no resident manager. The grounds are full of " goat heads" (weeds with very sharp stickers), in fact they carpet many of the rv sites. Some of the weeds in the flower beds are shoulder high. The driveways and roads are dirt and full of potholes. The restrooms are cleaned daily by inmates from the local jail and most of the hooks to hang your clothing and towels have fallen off the walls and were not replaced. Walking your pet can be a challenge with all the stickers but you also have to watch out for the "leavings" from irresponsible pet owners who do not clean up after their pets. The most grounds maintenance we saw was when they were watering some of the trees and bushes from a tank on the back of a pickup. Although there have been very nice flower beds at one time the weeds have been allowed to crowd them out. As others have noted the spaces are very crowded. We had to dodge low hanging branches and there were pull through sites we couldn't pull into because the trees are not trimmed. There are plenty of activities at the fairgrounds, especially on weekends and shopping is good and convenient. For being is such a populated area it was fairly quiet. The sheriff and park rangers were regular visitors while we were here but there is no other park oversight. One day a homeless person asked a neighbor of ours for the bathroom code. She did not give it out. I would not stay here again if I could avoid it. The utilities did work well but there is no sewer hookups. The dump site is only open from 8 to 4 so if you want to leave early in the morning and dump on your way out you can't. The most positive thing I can say is that the price is cheap. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

We were able to be here for the big eclipse. The spaces are both short and very close together. It is very difficult to park your tow vehicle. In our space the water was on one side and the electrical pedestal was on the other. The utilities were adequate. The parking surface is just plain dirt. The manager here was very helpful. The big advantage of parking here is cost and often availability. Most of the commercial parks in the area could cost twice as much. Since this is the county fairgrounds, there are often things happening in the fair facilities. Sometimes, rodeo, barrel racing, Saturday farmers market, bicycle trail, ponds with ospreys etc and etc. Great shopping and restaurants are nearby. We would stay here again. We liked this campground in spite of the tight sites and lack of space to park your tow vehicle. It worried me that if a camper caught fire, the fire department would not be able to drive into the park because of all the vehicles parked in the narrow streets .Check-in is easy by using the machine if the office is closed. The streets and sites are dirt although they must have been gravel at one time. Rv sites are few in the area so this is a welcome choice for someone looking for a space for a short stay. People in large RVs, especially towing a trailer should beware. The end sites seem to have the only picnic table. The sites on the South side are the longest but there are only 8 of them. The next 4 rows are narrow and the next couple are a bit wides. All of these are pull through. The rest are back-in of various lengths. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

We looked at other parks in the Rocky Mountains but this was the only one priced to afford. It is an excellent location. Doesn't feel like you are in the middle of the town. Grocery stores and shopping very nearby but did not hear any noise from traffic. They have electric and water at each site with a dump at the front of park that was easily accessible. We camped in the pull -through area for big rigs. Very happy with the park. We stayed two weeks. You can pay for dry camping or electric only or water and electric. Would highly recommend this park. This is our second stay. See our first DSVT review. We were looking for a convenient place to stay in the general area while visiting friends in April. There were only a few other RVs. Our stay was quiet. Although this park is more functional than aesthetic, we came back for the convenient location, easy access and friendly staff. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

We were looking for a campground that would be convenient for visiting friends in the Longmont/Boulder area. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a weekend in September.

All sites have electric, some have water. There's a dump station near the entrance. There's no wifi. ATT and Verizon coverage were ok. The sites are all arrayed in a flat gravel parking lot and are quite narrow. Sites on the ends of the rows feel larger as they abut small islands to direct traffic which also hold a picnic table. There are few trees, mostly around the perimeter. Despite the small sites and nearly full campground, we enjoyed several quiet nights. All sites are first come first serve, there are no reservations. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The location of this campground was great. It's 5 minutes to downtown Longmont, 20 minutes to Boulder and less than an hour to Denver. It's surrounded by malls, so stocking up on supplies and eating out were short walks away.

Simple park in nice area, convenient to shopping, movies, and Saturday farmers market in season. Easy spots on a first come first serve basis with 14 day stay limit. Easy into Boulder, Lafayette, etc. W&E worked great. Dump station pretty easy to get into. No sewer sites but nicely kept bathhouse with individually lock shower stalls and clean sink/toilet ares. Very quiet after dark. Humane shelter close by but no noise noted. Park needs some spiffing up so you don't feel like you are camping in an empty lot. Overall, a good place to stay.

Nice little park in the middle of longmont, CO. Nothing fancy about it, gravel roads and sites that are little tight. Bathhouse with separate showers. Lots of places and things to do with a mile or two. We were able to ride our bikes to grocery stores, restaurants, and the old main street area. About a 15 minute drive to Boulder. No wifi or cable. The sites in this park are pretty close together. We are able to get our slides out but you are very close to your neighbor. It can be very muddy when it rains. This campground is in town so your are close to groceries and several big box stores. Boulder is a short drive and Denver is about half an hour away. The location is the best feature. We found this park to be fairly quiet. We were one of the lucky sites that had a picnic table. Most don't. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We have used this campground many times in the past due to family in Longmont. Positives: Location is right behind the County Fairgrounds, so convenient for events (if you don't mind horses with occasional noise and odor) and the Sat. AM farmer's market. Short drive to shopping, including a Super Target. Nice walking trails around ponds with osprey nesting areas. Negatives: Sadly, our most recent visit was miserable. There are no sewer hookups (dump station) and the bathhouse, consisting of men's and women's bathrooms with toilets/sinks and a row of separate shower rooms, is heavily used and filthy. The bath house is cleaned by county jail inmates, and cleaned poorly. The lights kept going on and off for an inexplicable reason, making the bath house impossible to use at night. Apparently the county very honorably welcomed refugees from last year's horrible floods to camp there, but there still seems to be some people living there semi-permanently with rigs in disrepair. The grounds get muddy in rain since roads and sites are all gravel. The grounds are weed-infested. As a result, the whole campground now has a very seedy appearance despite a nice flower bed framing the front. There is a clerk manning an office, but if you arrive after hours you have to go over to the county maintenance yard nearby to get the bath house code. There is a cash machine to pay (need exact change or credit card) regardless if the clerk is there. $20 reflects electric only, $25 for electric & water. We will probably stay again, however, since St. Vrain State Park, the other option in town, is more expensive and further out of town. We'll just have to be self-contained and hope for no rain. We camped at Boulder County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.
