We stayed in the full hookup section right on one of the ponds, which gave us beautiful sunset views. There was a shelter over the picnic table which provided shade and wind protection, a very nice feature. The site was an easy level pull-thru. There are cleared trails around every pond, many of which interconnect, providing very convenient dog walking. Both Denver and Boulder are under an hour drives. There is an additional day use fee of $6/day plus a $10 reservation fee but it is still a very good value. We really enjoyed our stay here. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Motorhome.

This may not be the most attractive state park around, but it does have a lot going for it. Full hookups for $30, very large, spacious sites, plenty of places to walk with trails around most of the many small lakes, excellent Verizon and AT&T coverage, and a reasonable drive to Longmont and Boulder. Sites are completely level concrete, with a covered gravel picnic area. When outside we can hear the interstate but it's far enough to not be loud or bothersome. The full-hookup section is mostly wide open with few, if any, trees, and is all dirt roads so our car was a mess, and when walking our dog outside we had to deal with lots of dust when other cars drove by. The electric-only section of the campground has paved roads, many mature trees, and is much prettier. We had to deal with some mosquitoes but it wasn't bad compared to some other spots we've camped recently. We'll return in the future to spend more time exploring the Boulder area. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the newer, full hookup section, so this review is specific to that area. First the good. Very nice large sites with nice spacing between them. The way the campground is organized in large loops mean you aren't looking out toward close neighbors and have some really nice views from your patio area. Long, very wide, and flat concrete pads which also include concrete around the electric pedestal and water/sewer hookups (no mud!). Really decent price for full hookups. Any of the sites in the full hookup section are very big rig friendly. You can't go wrong with any, but when selecting your site online, try to find one further from the highway and off the main gravel campground road. Also, during warmer months, take into account orientation so you get afternoon shade from your rig. The bad...close to busy highway so you get consistent, pretty loud highway noise. The roads in the newer section are all very, very dusty gravel so there is a lot of dust kicked up any time anyone drives through. No shade other from your rig or site shelter. A few more dings...the dumpster and recycling can were always full. No dog waste stations anywhere in park. Nice short walking paths around the ponds. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed at St Vrain while visiting family in the area. It is a very nice park, but I would not make this a destination park unless you need to be in the area. We stayed in site 33 in the Mallard Loop. This area (North side of the entrance road) of the park has electric only sites and paved pads that are very level. For the electric only sites, the fee was $26/night, plus $7/day entrance fee, plus a $10 reservation fee. Total cost for a 3 night stay was $36/night. Water comes from shared water spigots. There are 3 in this loop and only 1 worked while we were there. The dump station has additional water spigots that worked. The spots south of the main entrance road have water and electric and this area appears to be newer, but the roads and spots are gravel only. The bath house was clean, but the showers will also cost you. $1.25 for the first 4 minutes, (but you get a free minute for the water to warm up) and $0.25 for each additional minute. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed for a few nights before we go on a lengthy trip just to make sure all systems in the rv work. We were in Coot Pond loop, site 66 next to the pond and it is a beautiful spot. Nice view of the mountains. The site was clean and gravel around fire pit and picnic table freshly raked. Parking for the rv is a large, level concrete pad. There is a metal sun shade above the picnic tables and outdoor meals can be enjoyed in the shade. Lots of space between sites and plenty of green spaces for kids to play. There is some road noise from I-25, but not bad even when sitting outside. The park is about a 5 minute drive from the highway and would be convenient for an overnight stay. Our rate of $37 per day includes $7 daily vehicle fee. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Motorhome.

When making an online reservation for St. Vrain SP, we noticed that you could only enter an RV length as 40' or less. When we received the reservation confirmation, it stated RV maximum length of 45'. The reason I state this is, we have a 45' motorhome and was concerned that we would be turned away having completed a reservation for a 40' motorhome. Every full-hookup site at St. Vrain SP can easily accommodate a 45' RV. All of the FHU sites are pull-thru with a concrete pad. The WSE hookups were placed correctly and our 50-amp pedestal provided ample strong voltage on a 100 degree day. The campground is well laid-out but watch for the big boulders that cordoned off the perimeter of your RV site. Water pressure was very high. Beautiful views of the ponds that surround the State Park. And the snow-capped mountain views are fantastic. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Motorhome.

Downtown Longmont was a delight. We dined at Georgia Boys BBQ in downtown Longmont. Go visit Cheese Importers corner of 1st & Main St. at the railroad tracks in downtown Longmont. 2 story building filled with cheeses from all across the USA and imported from abroad. Check out the olive bar & restaurant. Fantastic find! A Super Walmart is very close to the State Park.

St. Vrain is a very nice, clean park with great fishing and bird watching (bald eagles, blue heron, pelicans.) The park is kept spotlessly clean and the rangers and camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. The negatives are the showers which are in need of maintenance, no on-site laundry, and it is expensive at $43 per night for an electric-only site. This includes the outrageous $10 reservation fee and a $7 park entrance fee (a Colorado State Parks oddity). We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

It was an ok park. Not particularly pretty and very close to the highway. For a short stay or an overnight it would be great. Keep in mind that at all Colorado state parks if you don't buy a yearly pass you will be charged additional fees. If you are going to spend 14 days or more a year at a SP in CO it is worth buying one. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great state park, lots of room and lots of sites. Great job of setting up sites; large concrete pads and picnic tables with wind breaks; great water/power/sewer setups. Some road noise from interstate which just east of the park, but the park is large and roomy. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night mid-week. Weekends are always full and there are rarely any cancellations. The camping area is built around several ponds. The mature area - sites 1-41 - is paved, has trees and shade, and the plumbed facilities are located on that side. The newer area has plenty of room for bigger rigs, and pit toilets in permanent structures. The roads on the new side are dirt/gravel, and the grass is natural growth - which means pretty scrubby out in Colorado where the winters are harsh and summers are hot and dry.

The picnic tables are covered by a type of awning which would provide some shade and maybe some wind protection. The sites have cement pads that are VERY level. We didn't have to unhook the Freightliner from our 45' fifth wheel, and even had room for the car although it was tight. The loop configuration makes it feel spacious, and you don't have neighbors right next to you.

Proximity to I-25 meant a bit of traffic noise from the freeway, but we weren't bothered by it even with the windows open. The volunteer hosts and rangers were very friendly and helpful. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Paved entrance road, but most interior roads are gravel/dirt. Pads are concrete and pretty level with excellent spacing between sites and utilities well placed. Sites have rubber-coated picnic tables that accommodate wheelchairs and have a permanent shade that gives some relief from the afternoon sun. They have a barrel or two for recycle (metal/glass/plastic). It appeared that the Park Police patrolled continuously so it is very safe. The park is right next to I-25, with essentially no barrier trees so there is some low to moderate road noise, but that did not bother us. There are several ponds that can be fished (bass, crappie, catfish, etc.) and licenses may be purchased at the entrance. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice state park that is convenient to I-25. Yes you do hear the noise from the interstate, but it didn't bother me. At night we had our A/C on so that drowns out any noise anyway. We stayed in the Coot Pond loop and our site was right by the pond. We had a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains in the distance and the sunsets in the evening were beautiful. It was very hot when we were there (upper 90s most days), so we didn't get to enjoy the outside as much but the mornings were lovely and evenings were nice as soon as the sun went down. They don't have any laundry facilities here which was inconvenient. Verizon 4G worked well here. The only reason I knock off any stars for this and every other CO state park is because of the ridiculous $10 reservation fee and the fact that you have to pay the $7/day park entrance fee on top of the campground fee. We travel full-time and this is the only state so far that we have been to that makes you pay an entrance fee in addition to the campground fee. Since we are traveling around Colorado for a couple of months it made sense for us to buy the CO state parks annual pass for $70, but it makes staying at CO state parks a lot more expensive than other states. We are from Florida, and FL state parks do NOT make you pay the entrance fee on top of the campground fee to camp there. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for two nights. We were only able to get electric at the last moment. The site spaces are spacious, fire ring and table right by the pond. This price was for the campsite. It is another $7/day for vehicle access to a Colorado State Park unless you have an annual pass. Park borders I-25 and is noisy. Site 33 is the furthest from I-25. That said, it is very, clean, tidy. Sheltered picnic tables where there are no trees. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is an outstanding Colorado State Park with a beautiful unobstructed view of the Rocky Mountains, if you are in the Coot Pond Loop. We love it and will make this an annual visit for the maximum 2 weeks allowed. The only disadvantages are lack of laundry facilities at the Camper Services building, and the lack of a "clean" restroom in the full hookup area. Only the "electric only" section has paved roads, but one of the hosts indicated that they plan to pave the full hook up area roads next year, which would eliminate dust in the area. The bicycle/walking trails throughout the park are wonderful. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Travel Trailer.
