Was here for a rally. Most sites are level. Verizon signal was horrible and the wifi was unusable. Nice huge dog run. Our site was easy to get in and out of. Community fire pits in various locations. Beautiful views and starry nights. Campground was quiet in the evening but noisy during the day from the traffic driving up the road next to it. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice, quiet, well-managed campground. We camped here in a fifth wheel and stayed in the "big rig" section. The sites were sufficiently long and level. However, they were so narrow that the adjacent sewer connection was next to our picnic table. The laundry was clean. The "resort" tag fits this park as there is a pool, hot tubs, a grill deck, and miniature golf course. We didn't use any due to the lateness in the season. The views from the campground are great. This campground is located just across the 160 highway from Mesa Verde National Park. The digital TV service worked well; there are lots of TV stations to choose from. The park's wi-fi service was poor. The park is located so far out of town that Version data service was very poor. So we had virtually no internet access. If visiting this area in the future, we'd seriously consider a park closer to the town of Cortez where Verizon data service is better. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed 3 nights in our 36' MH. Typical Western Campground, clean, nice sites, good wifi, located at the entrance to Mesa Verde NP. We were repeat customers and brought friends this time. Upon arrival, with reservations, we discovered that their website announced an "October stay 2 nights, get third free" special. When we questioned why we were being charged for 3 nights we were told it was an "online special". Then we were told, no, they would have given the special if we had known to ask for it; that it was up to us to know about the discount when placing our reservation. We were told "it is called good marketing" and "buyer beware". Eventually the Park's Management reconsidered their refusal to honor the "October Special" posted on their website, but we are still not pleased that we had to "get ugly" during the conversations. Nice campground, well placed but; their marketing just cost them a repeat customer. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall we had a very good time. Great location, well maintained. One of the main reasons we picked this park was because a previous camper said the wi-if was excellent. For us it was not. I tried it at 3:00 AM in the morning and it was not good. It went to the Rec. room which is 50' from the repeater and it was not good. I was in site 24. Other than that the campground was fine. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We loved this campground! It was so convenient to Mesa Verde it made sightseeing very easy. This campground had everything we needed. We had a great site with a lovely view of Mesa Verde, laundry facilities, extremely clean, and a great pet area. Staff was friendly and professional. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this campground. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

First things first. All of the RV sites are level gravel pull throughs. Power and water are good. There are also some electric and water only sites (there's a dump station), tent sites (in the woods) and rental cabins. Verizon service was spotty for cell and non existent for data. In park WiFi was very slow at times. The owners of this park are very proud of it and they have good reason to be. They have put a lot of work into really making this a "resort". In addition to the swimming pool they have 2 hot tubs, a 1/2 acre dog park, mini golf course, and an elevated patio with grills and an unobstructed view of Mesa Verde. There is a log cabin rec hall with a big screen tv and pool table, and there is a 100 channel digital TV antennae. We stayed two nights in a 40' motorhome and 45' rigs would easily fit into the big rig sites #47-59. We would definitely stay here again. Location. Location. Location. Ancient Cedars is directly across from the Mesa Verde NP Visitors Center, and the NP is one where you may have to drive an hour further than the entrance to get to where you want to go. Ancient Cedars was quiet, with the amenities placed toward the front to keep down road noise. It has a turn off lights policy that improves viewing the stars and everything is clean. Some sites are close and some don't have much tree cover. But other sites have more breathing room. We had trees and we had to back in carefully to open our slide. The owner does a good job of quizzing about RV length and number of slides to be sure you will fit your site. He was also helpful in confirming that our water pump was indeed dead. The sewer connection was positioned toward the front of the site, which was not useful for our unit. There is a horse pasture adjacent and a faint whiff of horse, but nothing overwhelming and the horses are fun to watch. Our site was near the back of the park, but we didn't mind the walk to the front to use showers--and did I mention they were clean? Two playgrounds with picnic tables. Those with kidsters will enjoy chilling out while the little ones wear themselves out. As an RVer, we love the comfort of sleeping in our own bed each night. Equally comforting is discovering Ancient Cedars, a park we will come back to next time we are in the area. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Staff very friendly. Right across freeway from entry to Mesa Verde and vistor center where you purchase the tickets to the ranger led tours. We were there 4 days and purchased all of our tour tickets the day before we began our touring. Tickets are only $5/person and kids under 6 are free. We bought rib eye steaks from the front office and they were fantastic. We stayed with friends - we were in site 60 (pull thru full hook up) and they were next door in site 46 (back in water electric only). Perfect location for us as one of the playgrounds was right across the road. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cortez is 9 miles east with a Walmart and a Hertz rental location. Durango is to the west about 45 minutes drive (cute little place to drive for dinner and fun shops (we even saw a banjo playing street performer outside of the Irish Pub we ate at). Four Corners is about 45 minutes drive from the park as well.

We split our time here with a week between two short stays. Our sites were up on the hill (45 and 62) for smaller RVs only but very good separation between sites and lots of privacy. The grounds are well kept and restrooms clean but a bit of a hike from the upper sites. Staff was most helpful and don't forget the 3 min ride to the entrance to Mesa Verde. We enjoyed both of our visits and would stay here again if in the area. momdoc. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The sites are fairly level gravel and pretty close together. Some have trees providing a little shade - and others are fully open to the sun. They have a terrific pool which we enjoyed very much. Thunderstorms are common in the area during summer, but they have a good amount of gravel, so things didn't get too muddy. The utilities are stable and the customer service was friendly. Cell service for Verizon was ok, but the park Wifi was actually pretty good! - at least in our space. I was amazed. Plus, the park is very close to the new Visitor Center for Mesa Verde. I probably would stay here again. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

If you are looking for location to visit Mesa Verde National Park, this cannot be beat. It is literally right across the street from the entrance to the Park. It gets full, so you do need reservations. We got an end spot, so did not feel crowded. Some of the interior spaces were pretty closely spaced. The downside of our location was that it was next to a very-busy dirt road that runs next to the side of the park, so it was quite dusty. There is some road noise from the highway, but not bad at all.

All utilities worked well. There was no problem getting DirecTV as there are few trees. The folks that we dealt with at the front desk were very nice. One wonderful thing about the park is that they require you to turn your outside lights off at night and they do not have a lot of lights, so it is wonderfully dark. Hopefully other parks will take a cue from this one. Given the location and general pricing in the area, the rate is a real bargain. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Get to Mesa Verde early, especially if you want to get tickets for the Ranger-led tours. Be in line before the Visitor Center opens at 8 in the morning. There is lots to see and do at the Park, so plan at least two and preferably more days.

Free WiFi, Tengo, this was good. HD on the antenna was very good. The staff was friendly and we where lucky to have a pull thru with a million dollar view on the entrance of Mesa Verde. The sites are gravel, very tight to your neighbor and you have to watch the tight turns, it worked well for us no problem. If you want to visit Mesa Verde, it is across the entrance. Great clubhouse. Sure a place to check out. Very quiet at night. NO TRAINS. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is literally across the interstate from Mesa Verde National Park. The sites are close but we had plenty of room for our slideouts. The sites were gravel with little grass but there are new tree plantings around the park. We did not use any amenities like hot tub, game room or goofy golf. The cedar trees around the park were beautiful and the view from the upper loop was amazing. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Motorhome.
