Nice enough park with gravel sites separated by a fence on the upper level. The electric & water are good. They have a rec center, laundry, pool and hot tubs, mini golf and a large fenced dog park. The dog park is larger than any I have seen in other parks. Could not get any internet service on my Jetpack on the upper level but they do offer good WiFi, but can't use it a lot. TV Antenna stations were great - got about 100 from as far as Salt Lake City, Utah. There must be a repeater somewhere for us to get so many stations. I did walk across the side road into the woods and around the area to take the dogs for a walk. I did not let them loose though since we were so close to civilization. Park is located on the frontage road exit which is the same as the National Park. GPS does not say that. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Closest RV Park to Mesa Verde National Park. Took two days to see the park. Also visited Canyon of the Ancients National Monument at the Anasazi Heritage Center. Galloping Goose Museum in Dolores. Run by volunteers and closed on Sunday.

Location. Location. Location. Ancient Cedars is directly across from the Mesa Verde NP Visitors Center, and the NP is one where you may have to drive an hour further than the entrance to get to where you want to go. Ancient Cedars was quiet, with the amenities placed toward the front to keep down road noise. It has a turn off lights policy that improves viewing the stars and everything is clean. Some sites are close and some don't have much tree cover. But other sites have more breathing room. We had trees and we had to back in carefully to open our slide. The owner does a good job of quizzing about RV length and number of slides to be sure you will fit your site. He was also helpful in confirming that our water pump was indeed dead. The sewer connection was positioned toward the front of the site, which was not useful for our unit. There is a horse pasture adjacent and a faint whiff of horse, but nothing overwhelming and the horses are fun to watch. Our site was near the back of the park, but we didn't mind the walk to the front to use showers--and did I mention they were clean? Two playgrounds with picnic tables. Those with kidsters will enjoy chilling out while the little ones wear themselves out. As an RVer, we love the comfort of sleeping in our own bed each night. Equally comforting is discovering Ancient Cedars, a park we will come back to next time we are in the area. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall we had a very good time. Great location, well maintained. One of the main reasons we picked this park was because a previous camper said the wi-if was excellent. For us it was not. I tried it at 3:00 AM in the morning and it was not good. It went to the Rec. room which is 50' from the repeater and it was not good. I was in site 24. Other than that the campground was fine. The sites are fairly level gravel and pretty close together. Some have trees providing a little shade - and others are fully open to the sun. They have a terrific pool which we enjoyed very much. Thunderstorms are common in the area during summer, but they have a good amount of gravel, so things didn't get too muddy. The utilities are stable and the customer service was friendly. Cell service for Verizon was ok, but the park Wifi was actually pretty good! - at least in our space. I was amazed. Plus, the park is very close to the new Visitor Center for Mesa Verde. I probably would stay here again. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park right across US 160 from the Mesa Verde National Park entrance and visitor center. The bathrooms and sites are kept spotlessly clean and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. The park has a nice large dog area and 2 small hot tubs as well as a pool in summer. We've stayed there twice now and will stay there again when visiting the area. Lots to see in the area if you enjoy archeology and history. Mesa Verde NP, Canyon of the Ancients NM, Hovenweep NM are all easy to visit. There is also a pair of wineries on county road G.

Typically we stay in State Parks, so to stay at this RV resort was a real treat! Especially for the kids who enjoyed the WiFi and swimming pool. They begged to stay another day!

The laundry facility was nice and convenient.

Our family wanted to visit the 4 corners on our first night there and I asked for advice from the owners who didn't seem to know what time they closed.

The next morning - checkout was at 11am-which seems a little ridiculous to me- but sure enough at 11am another camper was waiting for our site. I still had laundry to finish, I felt rushed out. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mesa Verde National Park was a bit frustrating. You can't see any of the ruins (up close) with out taking a tour $ and the tours are only scheduled at certain times throughout the day. we ended up leaving after 2 hours of just driving through the park.

This Owners of this park go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. They shared local history and gave maps and suggestions for interesting sites to visit. We had truck problems and they willingly held our spot in case we needed to stay another night.

The grounds are well maintained and the layout is easy to get around. Big open areas of green grass are nice. Plans are for a walking trail through the massive green area. Although there is some highway noise it is minimal since the camp sites are behind a half acre dog run, pool, put par, hot tub, and office areas.

The park is just across from the entrance to Mesa Verde NP. Very handy for Park access.

We loved our stay here and highly recommend this park. The only reason I didn't give a 10 overall score was the light hwy noise. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great campground to use as a base to visit Mesa Verde and other places in the region. The owners care about your concerns and are very helpful.
The Wi-fi was okay for email but not much else. Verizon signal is low but useable. Easy drive to Cortez for groceries and restaurants. I stayed for a week and the campground was not busy until my last day. When full, you will be very close to your neighbor. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Anicent Cedars Mesa Verde RV Resort, owner at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park responded to this review

Thank you for staying with us and enjoying our facilities. I am perplexed because I personally have Verizon and check it often with no issues.
Our campground is unique and we have the right size site for all. At the
time of your visit we were only half open because of the unusually cold weather.

We stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The campsite we had was toward the front of the park and had trees with some shade. Bigger rigs are in the back of the park and have no trees. The bathroom facilities were very clean and it was obvious that the owners really care about their park. They provide a portable fire pit for $5 delivered to your campsite and a hot tub looking out to the Mesa Verde butte. You couldn't be any closer to Mesa Verde unless you camped in the park. We would stay here again. We also made the trip into Durango for dinner which is about 35 miles each way. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Some back in spaces are difficult to get in and out of with a camper (pull throughs are available.) New owners go to extreme lengths to assist and accommodate campers. They enforce the "quiet" time. Everything is spotless. Little mini-grocery is well stocked and reasonably priced. Only semi-negative thing is that some spaces are quite close together. We stayed 2 nights here. It's a nice, quiet park. We lucked out and got a spot at the end of a row, so we had a fire pit and grass. Most sites did not have fire pits due to the proximity of the trailers. Lots of amenities including a pool and hot tubs. We had a good Verizon signal here. We were in the area up front that has some good trees. There is another area further back with no trees. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Giving it a 9 only because many of the sites are not as level as some would like. Other than that, its excellent. For 5 dollars more per night than dry camping inside Mesa Verde NP, you don't have to drag your trailer up that first 10 mile stretch of twisty road, AND you get water and electric, wifi, a swimming pool, hot tub, hot showers, laundromat, puttputt golf, a game room, and a playground for the kids. Really great for families. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Don't believe the hype!! Upon check-in we were told we had to disconnect our water by 9pm each night (due to freezing temps). The Wi-Fi was terrible and basically useless. When we went to do some laundry at about 8pm the "24 Hour" washing machines were all disconnected. When I inquired with the owner he stated that they were unhooked for the night (the laundry is outdoor) and I could come back in the morning. Completely uncaring that I was inconvenienced and that they don't actually offer what they advertise. Luckily we found a nice laundromat in town. Also, the "24 Hour" restrooms are closed for 2 hours everyday for cleaning. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Friendly owners, quiet and clean. It is a great location when going to Mesa Verde and close to Cortez. Rained a lot while we were on site but it drained well. Site was level, and water pressure adequate. Has pool (not opened yet) and miniature golf course that looked fun. Would come back. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
