Nice enough park with gravel sites separated by a fence on the upper level. The electric & water are good. They have a rec center, laundry, pool and hot tubs, mini golf and a large fenced dog park. The dog park is larger than any I have seen in other parks. Could not get any internet service on my Jetpack on the upper level but they do offer good WiFi, but can't use it a lot. TV Antenna stations were great - got about 100 from as far as Salt Lake City, Utah. There must be a repeater somewhere for us to get so many stations. I did walk across the side road into the woods and around the area to take the dogs for a walk. I did not let them loose though since we were so close to civilization. Park is located on the frontage road exit which is the same as the National Park. GPS does not say that. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Closest RV Park to Mesa Verde National Park. Took two days to see the park. Also visited Canyon of the Ancients National Monument at the Anasazi Heritage Center. Galloping Goose Museum in Dolores. Run by volunteers and closed on Sunday.

I hate to post this review because I don't want everyone to swarm it. This place is awesome, The owner is the nicest person you'll probably ever meet. She bent over backwards to fit us in and accommodate us. The park has the best 1/2 acre dog park that I've seen. It has a swimming pool, mini golf, horse riding and a hot tub. The Wifi isn't that great but, you're camping, so unplug and don't worry about that. We were in a 5th wheel in the back section. This is a nice rustic park across the street from Mesa Verde NP. Loved it and will go back. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Absolutely beautiful park. Not big, but it's not the size that counts, just big enough to be welcoming. The view is amazing of Mesa Verde, which is literally right across the highway. Quiet day and night. Hosts were wonderful, helped us out with a longer stay and all very friendly. They all treated us like old friends. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is about a mile from Mesa Verde which is a must-see. Our camp faced the Mesa so the view was very good. We also visited Durango which is about 30 minutes away. Our site was level. There are plenty of in-park things to do (putt-putt, horseshoes, etc. The office folks were very accommodating. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

First things first. All of the RV sites are level gravel pull throughs. Power and water are good. There are also some electric and water only sites (there's a dump station), tent sites (in the woods) and rental cabins. Verizon service was spotty for cell and non existent for data. In park WiFi was very slow at times. The owners of this park are very proud of it and they have good reason to be. They have put a lot of work into really making this a "resort". In addition to the swimming pool they have 2 hot tubs, a 1/2 acre dog park, mini golf course, and an elevated patio with grills and an unobstructed view of Mesa Verde. There is a log cabin rec hall with a big screen tv and pool table, and there is a 100 channel digital TV antennae. We stayed two nights in a 40' motorhome and 45' rigs would easily fit into the big rig sites #47-59. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Motorhome.

We loved this campground! It was so convenient to Mesa Verde it made sightseeing very easy. This campground had everything we needed. We had a great site with a lovely view of Mesa Verde, laundry facilities, extremely clean, and a great pet area. Staff was friendly and professional. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this campground. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Staff very friendly. Right across freeway from entry to Mesa Verde and vistor center where you purchase the tickets to the ranger led tours. We were there 4 days and purchased all of our tour tickets the day before we began our touring. Tickets are only $5/person and kids under 6 are free. We bought rib eye steaks from the front office and they were fantastic. We stayed with friends - we were in site 60 (pull thru full hook up) and they were next door in site 46 (back in water electric only). Perfect location for us as one of the playgrounds was right across the road. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cortez is 9 miles east with a Walmart and a Hertz rental location. Durango is to the west about 45 minutes drive (cute little place to drive for dinner and fun shops (we even saw a banjo playing street performer outside of the Irish Pub we ate at). Four Corners is about 45 minutes drive from the park as well.

Check in was easy, gravel roads and spaces. We had rain and snow when we we there and mud in the gravel was a bit of an issue at the sites for dirty shoes. Overall it is a great place with good amenities and a half acre dog run. Verizon signal was weak there and I could not get the wifi to connect. Great views from everywhere in the park. Very nice park right across US 160 from the Mesa Verde National Park entrance and visitor center. The bathrooms and sites are kept spotlessly clean and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. The park has a nice large dog area and 2 small hot tubs as well as a pool in summer. We've stayed there twice now and will stay there again when visiting the area. The new owners since July of 2014 have taken HUGE strides in upgrading this park and it shows everywhere in the park!

This is a family owned resort (not a national chain) and the owners made me feel as though I was part of the family. Everything from helping me with my motorhome to inviting me to dinner twice during my stay (2 weeks, then came back for a month because I felt so comfortable). The personal touch applied by the owners and their helpers made my stay VERY enjoyable! It was the perfect place to reunite with my brother after not seeing him for 10 years. The amenities of this resort are TOP NOTCH and spotless!

Visitors to this park that DO NOT TRY bending/breaking the rules for their own benefit will TOTALLY ENJOY their stay here.

I WILL RETURN! Thanks for everything Ancient Cedars. We camped at Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Park in a Motorhome.

Super clean park in good location. Lower level sites (closer to entrance) have beautiful trees; many big rigs in rear are in an area with full hookups but no trees or shade. We preferred the lower area and were very happy with electric and water only, in a 38' Class A.
WiFi was good, 50amp electric stable, and large dog park (1/2 acre). Couldn't get tv antenna reception from our site but that was the single drawback to an outstanding stay (and we didn't miss it that much!) We definitely plan to return here again.
