Nightly rate is $24. plus $7 per vehicle. Aug vehicle fee waived for all military and vets regardless of state of residency. Park has four campgrounds. Not all sites have electric. No water or sewer hookups. Water spigots throughout campground. Water appeared to have some iron. All roads in entire park are dirt. Dirt sites are somewhat level. Sites are close together. Small trees between campsites are not yet tall enough to offer shade. Fire ring and picnic table. Toilets are vault except for bathhouse in Pinnacle City Loop. Power was not strong when campground was full. Many tents and small rvs. Good swimming, fishing, sunbathing at lake which campground borders. Many paddle boarders enjoying calm lake. Free WiFi at Pinnacle Campground bath house. Verizon signal very weak. Groceries and gas available in Steamboat Springs about 15 miles from park. Campground host and park rangers make a visible presence. We camped at Stagecoach State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice state park. It is not a showcase CO park like Mueller, Ridgeway, or Cherry Creek. It is a no wake lake so it is quiet--no speed boats, no train and no highway noise. Restrooms are plumbed. The shower house is OK but heavily used. It is between the boat ramp and the swim beach. No matter how hard the hosts try it can get trashed. One day while I was there 3 school bus loads of kids arrived but the bath house stayed in fairly good shape. Roads are gravel as are pads. Stagecoach is a campground not an RV resort. It does have sites next to the water where campers can tie up their boats or fish from their site. This alone would make the place a 10 for many folks. The lake side sites in the Junction City Loop require reservations and the host advised reserving them 6 months in advance. Pinnacle Campground is what I would call a KOA wanta be. Not very private. It has electrical hookups. And the sites are larger than those at most private RV parks. It is close to the beach and the boat ramp so this loop is a good choice for kids. Since I was in my tent I camped in the Harding Spur loop which has large back-in campsites, many of which are on the water. This loop was almost empty the Sunday afternoon I arrived so I got to spend 3 nights in a lake side site. Harding loop has no electric. That is fine with me. What it didn't have was a dumpster for trash so every morning I had to hike to the dump site to drop off my daily small sack of trash. Pretty tacky! The other loops had dumpsters. Despite that, I plan to return next year with my trailer, hopefully, to camp in one of the lake side sites in Junction City Loop. We camped at Stagecoach State Park in a Tent.

Tips for other Campers:

Closest state park to Steamboat Springs. There are walking trails, boat ramp and swim beach at the park. Most people camp here to boat, swim and/or to fish. It is heavily used in the summer so make a reservation.

If you are into boating, swimming, and fishing, this park is OK. We are not, so just wanted to check it out on our way home. Dirt & rock sites with electric only. $17 with Aspen Leaf pass (senior). Restrooms average as we have found that boaters and swimmers tend to dirty up the restrooms. If not for the well used restrooms, I would have rated this much higher. Very nice location. Also, the park rangers and campground hosts seemed to ignore the fact that the site next to us was not occupied for camping (no camper of any sort in the campground site); used just for day use as there were in excess of 15 people and multiple cars coming and going all afternoon. The people were nice enough, just seemed that a day use area would have been more appropriate. We camped at Stagecoach State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wanted to stay 3 nights, but with no reservations over a holiday weekend, we just changed plans to stay the 2 nights that were open. We got the best site!! All the sites are nearly on the reservoir or a bit higher on the hill but with an open view of the lake and mountains. The road and sites are gravel with only a bit of leveling required. The very helpful ranger pointed out our site which was a spacious back-in area with room enough to move our tow vehicle to the side. We could see the lake from our front windows and from our street-side windows we looked on the mountains and the lake. Opportunities to bring your equipment for skiing, boating, and fishing for rainbow trout or northern pike from a boat or from shore near the dam are available. We enjoyed watching the paddle boarders. Also inside the park, the blue ribbon trout waters flow from the dam and are fed from the bottom of the lake. We will return. We camped at Stagecoach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for four days (Monday-Thursday) and really enjoyed it. Not crowded through the week, which was very nice. Had a pull-through site that was very level and no one on either side of us. I can't remember the name of the loop we stayed in but it was at the marina with a nice beach for the kids and a volleyball net on the beach. Bathrooms were very clean. The view of the lake was very nice. We will definitely return. I would imagine it would be very crowded on the weekends as Steamboat is only 16 miles away...also a very nice spot to visit. We camped at Stagecoach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in the McKindley Loop which is primitive with no electricity or hookups. There are two other loops that do have electric. The setting was incredible. The McKindley loop is up on a bluff and has amazing views of the valley lake and mountains. They could use a dumpster on the loop and more showers. There are only two showers per sex at the marina building and cost $1 per 4 mins. The showers and bathrooms at the marina weren't as clean as we've seen at other parks but they were okay--the main reason they rated a 7. We camped at Stagecoach State Park in a Travel Trailer.
