Overall Rating:

Price reflects a week stay with veteran's discount. A very nice RV park. Friendly, engaged owners. Very helpful and pleasant. Enjoyed spending the week in a park that was quiet, and especially appreciate the 55+. The owners keep the place beautifully manicured, and clean. We stayed too busy hiking and motorcycle riding, but there were several park events while we were there. The utilities worked as they should, including wifi. You will not find a better RV park in that part of Colorado. When we are in that part of Colorado, we will DEFINITELY stay there again. We camped at Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Unfortunately, we are not retired yet, so we cram as much in a vacation as we can. I would like to visit again when we can take the time to visit more. Talked to the neighbors, but did not time to go to any park events. If you ride a motorcycle, you MUST drive the hwy 141/145/62 loop. It is around 250 miles from Olathe. An absolutely AMAZING ride! If you don't mind rough dirt, check out the Dominguez- Escalante National Conservation Area. Very beautiful, and rugged area.

Overall Rating:

Just finished up a 2-week stay at Uncompahgre River RV Park. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and highly recommend this park to anyone looking for a place to stay on Colorado's Western Slope. Asphalt paved roads and concrete pads for sites. Nicely spaced so you're not right on top of your neighbor. Good utility connections. Good wifi. Good ATT and Verizon service. This is a well designed and laid out park and the current owners are doing a great job of bringing it back to first rate condition. Spotless laundry and restrooms/showers. Frequent social events. Lots of shade! Our only specific suggestion is to find a place for a fenced dog park. Olathe is an excellent central location for seeing the Western Slope. 5 good golf courses in the immediate area and you're an hour or less from Telluride, Ouray. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, etc. Again, we can't say enough positive about the Uncompahgre River RV Park. We will definitely be back. We camped at Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Both Montrose and Delta offer all the shopping you might need. Lots of great restaurants. Try golf at The Bridges, Devils Thumb, and Cobble Creek. Don't miss the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park - spectacular! And Telluride, Ouray, and Silverton are all within a day-trip distance.

Rate is based on a one month stay. Nice campground in the farm community of Olathe. Owners are attentive and responsive to your needs. A few new sites are planned for the south end but work is in progress and being done by the owner. Currently it is a barren site with piles of dirt. Mosquitos and bugs at night were an issue. About half of the sites are occupied by seasonal campers. Equal distance to Delta and Montrose for shopping. Small grocery store in town for necessities. Wi-fi was up and down. They are planning an upgrade to fiber but I put it in the category of the additional sites. Washers and dryers work okay and cost $2.00. Our third stay. The Fun Factor is no longer here at all. While the new owners are nice, it is not run nearly as well as on our previous two stays. It is still the best bet for an RV site around in this area of CO so we would return. When I called, I stated we were in a MH and if we could have a shaded spot. We were given site 11, probably the worst site here for a MH. Full sun on the windshield from 1 - 6 during the worst heat of the day. On day 2 the electric failed, so we were given the option of moving across to site 12. Completely night and day, site 12 was very nice for the balance of our 2 week stay. Our AC could keep up with the triple digit heat we arrived in. This shaded row was empty except for 1 site on our arrival. So why did they put us in site 11? Park has a couple of Yahoos with 5th wheels who think it is ok to let their trucks stay half in the street. The clown in the corner had 10' feet between the back of his truck and his trailer. By sticking out in the road he make it tough for others to make the really tight swing around the corner. See class A below. Hopefully, the new owners will catch on and put a stop to crap like this. We spent almost a month here (initially planned on 1 week). The owners couldn't have been any nicer and they were great about extending our stay while we waited for parts for RV repair. We were in Site 40, which didn't offer any shade, but did allow us to get Dish reception. There are a number of sites that are shaded the majority of the time, but you sacrifice satellite. More than adequate site size. There is a pleasant "riverside" walk (although there was little more than a trickle during our stay). A few long-term seasonal guests and numerous ones who return every year. Good location and cheaper than parks in Montrose. Easy drive to Ouray, Silverton, Grand Mesa, Grand Junction and Black Canyon. I second the suggestion for a dog park, although walking the park roads & path along the river was very pleasant. We camped at Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice recently renovated park in a suburban area with nearby agricultural and mixed-use areas. This roads are paved, some sites are paved and all appear to be spacious enough for the rig that they intend to be on the site. The owners were friendly. They accommodated two itinerary changes and worked hard to resolve issues we had with our 50 amp service. The area is in a drought and they are doing their best to keep things green via careful irrigation. Note that we were here in the middle of May. The park is covered with HUGE Cottonwood trees and they were slinging seed pods everywhere. As an allergy-sufferer, this was not the best environment for me. They advised that this would last for about two weeks; lucky me. Also, I was REALLY looking forward to putting my chair on the river bank, soaking my feet, drinking a beer, and listening to the water cascade over the rocks. NOT! Yes we have a back-in on the river but the river does not run unless they release water from the upstream reservoir. This seems to happen once or twice per day. We did see deer during our dog walk along the river and we had a great time with our bird feeders. Our pets included Black Chinned Hummingbirds, Bullucks Oriole, House Finch, and Black-Headed Grossbeak. The farmer is planting corn right next door. The river walk is nice but could be better if someone would clean up the junk cars and associated debris along the path and in the river. We camped at Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The primary reason for our visit was to see Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. This campground is about 25 minutes from the park entrance. While we did see closer campgrounds, we didn't see any that were nicer than this one. This NP is at least a three-day park. Shop local: Hidden View Winery and Rocking W Cheese and Milk in Olathe as well as Kinikin Processing in Montrose.

Thank you for such a valuable review! We enjoyed your stay! The river normally does flow nicely at our south and western sides; however, we are in an extreme drought. If we do not get more precipitation, we will be in an exceptional drought. The old cars were placed along the river banks by the Army Corp of Engineers back before the Ridgway dam was built. Since we purchased the property 1 1/2 years ago, we have been removing these vehicles as we can safely dislodge them. They have all been going to a salvage yard and auto recycling in Montrose.

This is a better than average park. Period. We have been RVing for 18 years and I just don't get the 9.4 rating on RvParkReviews.com. The roads are asphalt, the sites are concrete, the one and only bathroom and shower is spotless but at the far end of the park from us. The WiFi seems to work. There is no pool, no hot tub, no amenities to speak of, no on site store, restaurant or tavern. There are no nearby towns or attractions. However, the park is well off the highway and dead quiet. Better than average. Just. We camped at Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I stayed at the park over the summer. It is located just a mile off of Hwy 50 with little traffic compared to the larger surrounding towns. It is an oasis in a small farming town. The park has nice trees and is very well kept with nice landscaping and concrete pads for RV parking. The laundry facilities are like new and good showers in the same building. The owners of the park are very friendly and will try to make your stay pleasant. The WIFI is good as is the Cable TV. They have a gathering every Friday for folks to visit and get to know each other. The park is in a quiet location next to the river. You don't see the river from your RV but it is just a few steps away depending on your site. A 15 Min drive South is the town of Montrose, population 19,000 which has some big box stores such as Home Depot, Target, JC Penney's, Wal-Mart, etc. and several big grocery stores. The town of Delta, population 9000, to 15 min drive to the North also has a couple of nice grocery stores and Wal-Mart. Grand Junction a city of over 60,000 in Mesa County, population of around 150,000 an hour drive north will take care of almost any other needs you may have. Olathe itself, Population of around 1,800, has a couple restaurants; the only fast food outfit is Subway, and a small grocery store. There is one gas station besides a farm Co-op station. The western slope of Colorado has a lot to offer for vacation opportunities and the Uncompahgre River RV park is in a good position for some day trips to visit the absolutely beautiful San Juan's with the small towns of Ouray, Ridgway, and Silverton to the South and the Grand Mesa National Forest to the north with many hiking trails and a visitor center. The Colorado National monument is near Grand Junction, and of course a 30 min. drive to the Black Canyon National Park. Gunnison, 75 Mi East, is also a beautiful drive with a tourist oriented shops. The price listed was at the monthly rate. We camped at Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

We loved the campground and stayed for a month which the price reflects the lower amount. We had plenty of room on each side with mature trees for shade and were parked on a concrete pad. The bathrooms were spotless and they also provide a laundry room. They have a nice free library and dvd's to choose from. The utilities are all excellent, including the water pressure. We have 63 channels on cable TV (analog) and excellent wifi. The owners are fantastic in helping in every way they can. The park is located in the little town of Olathe so it is a easy walk downtown where there is a great breakfast place, small town but handy. Olathe is also located in the center of so many great areas to sightsee, so it's a great place as a central location. Of course this area is known for its delicious Olathe corn (yumm) and the palisade peaches. We went to Fruita and picked peaches, so much fun in a beautiful location on top of a Mesa. Just some of the places within a days drive: Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Owl Creek Pass, Marble, Grand Mesa, Colorado National Monument, Grand Junction, Ouray, Telluride and so much more. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very quiet 55+ park. All utilities were excellent, including the WIFI, best we've had yet. Sites are level, you are led to your site and guided in. As you come in, it is a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, we were in what I believe must be a new section and it was quite a sight, but in fairness to the owner, the lawnmower had broke down and the weeds were taking over what had been planted grass. You can tell they take pride in their business and are very friendly and trying to do a good job of keeping the place up. There were lots of dead trees laying around that took away from the beauty also. Laundry was spotless, $2/load wash and dry, 6 machines each. Would definitely stay here again. This is a hidden gem in a town of not too many people. It is off the main highway, clean with lots of trees. I could stay here forever. The river is behind the park, and there is a pond in the middle. Laundry is a little high, but lots of washers and dryers. Only negative I can think of for this hidden gem. The town has very little to offer, but 10 minutes away to the north is Delta, and ten minutes to the south is Montrose. Both have anything you could want. Walmart is in both towns and the one in Montrose is very nice. Lots of places to eat. Yes, you have to go a ways to get things, but all worth it for the pleasure of staying here.

Nice, NICE park! We stayed here 11 days and enjoyed it very much. The owners gave us their best spot (in our opinion!). Lots of large shade trees which sure were appreciated in this heat. Electrical ampage was steady at 120. Water pressure just right. Green, green grass and nice flowers and landscaping. Perfectly level site. Very nice laundry room and showers. Nice and quiet too! Its a mile off Highway 50. Located between Montrose and Delta and either of these towns has whatever you may need. We will certainly stay here again.
