The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's also nice that it's on the edge of town so everything is walking distance. (We are in our thirties to put it in perspective.) Parking in the small town can be a challenge. The town in nestled in a small valley surrounded by massive mountains! The views here are spectacular and every time you walk out of your RV your breath will be taken away.

The spots were nice, but a bit close for my comfort. A motor home pulled in beside us and their pop out prohibited us from placing the picnic table outside out door. We had to move it toward the front. The sites are very long however, so there is plenty of room in front/back. WiFi works pretty good in the middle of the night or very early morning. Most times I could not even log.

Facilities are nice. Laundry is about average, with about 5 of each machine (washer/dryer). One thing I could not understand is that the laundry facility is locked at 8 pm. This really made no sense to me considering the amount of people who come here to spend all day in the mountains hiking or offroading. These few downsides are minor however and I would certainly stay here again in the future. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Ouray Rim Trail.

USE THE PUBLIC HOT SPRINGS!!! Clean, inexpensive and a short walk from the campsite. Telluride is about an hour drive and well worth it. (FREE gondolas up the mountain.)

Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs website has photos, area history, things to do, etc.

We stayed in 4J for two nights. best place we stayed but mainly because of the location. We were able to walk into town, which was rare for most campgrounds.

The sites are very close together, have to juggle to put the awning up and have it over your picnic table, trying not to be too close to the sewage outlet! However the facilities were good and clean, showers free. WiFi very patchy and sometimes nonexistent.

Saying all that we would come back to the site, as it gave us everything we wanted. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

This is the most awesome RV and tent park I've been in. One block to Main Street and plenty of trees for tent camping. The management was super helpful and accommodating.

Many sites are right on the river and there are grassy areas. No AT&T phone reception, but that is for the whole town of Ouray. Verizon does work though. Wifi works well at times, but sometimes the only place to get reception is close to the office on a bench that is nearby.

The park is beautiful. It's busy, but there seems to be a good community spirit. Besides that, Ouray is surreal in itself. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Tent.

Check in person was pleasant and helpful. As stated, gravel parking, no grass for dogs, water and electric was good. Sites are close together but since it was off season the management only rented every other site which gave us plenty of room. I feel it is overpriced for what it is, but I suppose they have a limited amount of time to make their yearly money. From what I could see around town, this was as good if not better than the other parks. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town is your classic historical town. Fun to walk around. They have a city hot spring that is normally opened, but it was closed for cleaning the days we were there. Within walking distance of the rv park. Since it was closed we went to a private hot spring (Wiesbaden Hot Springs Spa) that cost $16 for 3 hours use. It also has a natural steam room in the basement.

We enjoyed our stay at Four J due mostly to the friendly staff, close proximity to town and easy access to great hiking trails. Some mobile homes with more permanent residents were mixed in along with the transient Rvers. The park did not offer a lot of extra amenities, but basic services such as water and electric worked well. Park Internet worked close to the office, but did not reach the spot we were assigned. Our Verizon service worked adequately however. Cable TV was not provided, but we were able to get two local channels. This park does not recycle. We particularly enjoyed being able to walk into town for shopping and dining, being able to walk to the local hot springs pool, and even being able to take off for several nice hikes without having to drive to the trailhead. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Four wheeling is quite popular in the area. Jeeps and ATVs are available for rental from several different providers in Ouray. We used Switzerland of America and were quite satisfied with their vehicles and service.

Walking distance to everything. I had a nice roomy electric site near the office. Many sites are very, very close to each other, especially the ones on the river. Restrooms and laundry are nice. Quiet at night with bear visitors! We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

I agree with all other reviews. Spaces too tight, busy gravel road along most sights. But also location is great; right in town; awesome views; incredible hikes; hot springs walking distance. Cut our stay short because we couldn't enjoy our site like we wanted to. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed only one night but would have loved to extend it!

I understand why some would complain and didn't like it and I think I would have felt the same if we didn't have a River site!! Yes, that's right! It is the only RV park that's literally in downtown Ouray, but on the edge of it, meaning the mountain is in front of you there's no where to go, and I mean that it's absolutely awesome, it left me in Awe for hours.

Wii is OK, Verizon worked great, I didn't use bathrooms so can't say anything about that.

In other words, everything that people complained about in their reviews of the park is probably true Unless you ask for the River back in spots, it's just awesome, the river is loud but amazing (we personally love it). We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

You are literally just walk to downtown! It's a lovely, smallish charming downtown, it reminded me of Switzerland.

Do not miss going to Box Canyon and the million dollar Hyw.

I'm here before Memorial Day, so I almost have run of the place. I can see it getting very crowded and busy here, due to the lay-out of the spaces (close together) and the primo location within downtown Ouray. The welcome & service was warm & friendly.

There is a Club House that houses very clean and spacious shower/restrooms, a reading/TV/internet room. I had excellent wifi inside my TT.

This facility is well thought-out for the space they had to work with, and is within 2 blocks walk of Main Street and the town hot springs pool. Oh, and a mountain river runs along it that makes that unique noise that knocks you out at night! We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Plan to stay here awhile. There is so much to do, see, and visit in the area.

The mountain views that welcome you as you step outside in the morning are spectacular.

Tip: look across the river for a small, fenced-in town dog park.

Ouray is in a tight valley, so not a lot of room for RV parks. We got the last spot at this park, with just water and electric for $37 a night plus tax. The sites are REALLY close to each other. Zero privacy. ATVs/Jeeps constantly going through campground. A lot of kids. Pretty loud during the day, but quiet at night. It is walking distance to town and the hot springs (about a 10 minute walk to both). Restrooms were pretty good. Cell signal not a problem as it's in town. This is a clean "in town" park. Walk the town and no need for a car. Access is easy along with gravel sites and roads. My satellite broke and the park doesn't have cable. Went four days without TV. We had a back-in site toward the rear of the park and it was great being almost alone. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

This is the best RV park the area within walking distance to downtown and close proximity to the hot springs. Pet friendly. Spotless restrooms, and super friendly staff make for icing on the cake to the beautiful views of the river. Sites are level and on gravel- a small park but well laid out and can accommodate a big RV. We camped here in a 37" RV and would recommend this location to any fellow RVer wanting to stay in Ouray. Would have scored it higher, but the sites are very narrow and piled on top of each other. We were less than 5' away from our neighbor's slideout. Otherwise, the restrooms and showers were great, with a very friendly office staff. Easy access to downtown with lots to do. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Enjoyed our weekend in the charming mountain town of Ouray here very much with a site by the river. Friendly greeting, huge restrooms, location near center of town and a wonderful box canyon within walking distance. Wifi and our AT&T cellular worked well, and we got a few TV channels via antenna. We had a rainy, relaxing Sunday and awakened to snow on the mountain peaks, which made for a beautiful drive to Telluride. Would recommend and return.
