This Rv park is very small. The lane to the sites are very narrow and we caught the top of our Rv on a tree trunk that jotted out into the road. I walked it off from the tree to the parked motorhome across the road were 17 steps of my size 8 feet. The tree caused almost 2000 dollars in damage to our rig. The sites are cramped on top of each other. We could smell the sewer of the motor home next to us. There is no where to park your vehicle once you unhook. The trailer next to us parked under our slide and kept hitting our trailer. We were yelled at by another person for hemming them In the "overflow" parking. We voiced our concerns to the owner but were treated rudely and disrespectfully. We will never stay there again no matter how nice Ouray is... We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great views at this park. The location is great! You can walk to town. Except for a few sites, they are crazy close together. My awning covered part of the trailer next to us. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The laundry room was clean but only had two washing machines and three dryers working. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Folks: It aint about the campground....Ouray is the most scenic town we have visited in Colorado. The mountains rise up at the edge of town....amazing. This campground is right in the middle of town well within walking distance. Check in was quick and easy. If you have a big rig: navigation can be a bit tight and most of the sites are narrow so, if you are sitting under your awning, you will have a ring-side seat when your neighbor dumps his tanks. The wifi is very slow and, although we had 4 bars of 4G signal on AT&T, it was very, very slow as well. The restrooms and laundry room were as clean as I have ever seen. The sound of the river is mesmerizing. We would definitely stay here again. There was a burn-ban while we were there...no outdoor campfires or charcoal grills. Propane grills were allowed and available at the hardware store downtown (well within walking distance). We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a stunning waterfall just east of Main Street downtown. You can see it from the campground. We did a jeep tour with "Switzerland of America" up to Imogene Pass. Amazing view and quite a ride! I'd recommend it! We also drove down Hwy 550 to Silverton. Saying that this is a breathtaking ride is quite the understatement. If you are scared of heights - wear Depends ;-)

Great location and very friendly staff. You can walk to the entire downtown area, including the hot spring mineral baths from this park. It sits right on the river and wildlife wanders thru on occasion. The pull thru sites are plenty long but they are very close on either side. Your neighbor's hookups are, literally, right beside your picnic table. But, with so much to do, you aren't home for long, its not a big deal. The tent sites were quite nice, roomy and set up for privacy. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you didn't come to Ouray from Silverton, consider making the drive in your tow car. Its got steep roads, hairpin turns and 10-15mph is all you'll want to do...but the views! Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is within an hour's drive, not to be missed. There are two great museums in Montrose (about 30 minutes north of Ouray).

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. Pull through sites very close together. Free Wifi was nonexistent (even in the tv room near the office). The bathroom area, tv room and laundry room were spotless. Make sure when you are checking in to turn right when you arrive at the park office so you will be headed in the correct direction to park your RV. There were no signs at the check in so as a result we went the wrong way and had to disconnect the toad and turn around to get in the park. Also, driving into town the signs were almost hidden for the park location. The park appeared full the entire time we were there. It is handy to downtown. We did walk to the Hot Springs nearby which was fun. There are quite a few mobile homes in the park. There is no cable tv (only 3 PBS stations over the air), but they do have a lending library for DVD's and books in the TV room. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

The RV park is located near downtown. We did visit a few of the shops downtown, but did not try out any of the restaurants. Box Canyon Park is within walking distance plus the Hot Springs is nearby. The 4 wheel drive roads around Ouray seem to be very popular with the tourists.

Back in sites were wider than pull-throughs although still not very spacious. The internal roads were narrow, The park itself was not visually appealing. There were a lot of permanents there. The staff were very nice, the hook-ups all worked well and there were great mountain views. The location was terrific, easy walk to town. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

There aren't a lot of choices in Ouray. This park is right in town so you can walk to everything. Convenient to hiking trails. It is pretty crowded, but all the parks are there. We would say here again in our fifth wheel, but not in the part to the right of the office as you turn in because it was too hard to back our 30' fifth wheel in and there was no water or sewer there plus it was the same price as the FHU sites. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

I second what other recent reviewers said: the location of this park is great. You can walk nearly everywhere in Ouray. The spaces are close together, but everyone was very friendly, and we didn't spend much time in our RV anyway. We were there for only one night. There were a lot of "rules" about where to walk, especially with a dog. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Ouray. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pull-through sites are narrow, hookups are at the end of the site. WIFI sucks. Nice that it is downtown Ouray, walking distance to historic district, shopping and dining. Hosts are very nice and accommodating. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lots of things to see and do in Ouray. Hiking, biking 4-wheeling, Hot Springs, Box Canyon, and easy access to trails that take you over the mountains to Telluride. Book early and get a site right on the river.

We really liked our stay here. It was quiet, whereas other campsites in the area are less so. Our site was next to river which was wonderful. We liked that it is close to town, and it was an easy walk. The convenient walk to the reconstructed city hot springs pool was nice too. WiFi was just OK. Cell service was strong 4G all over town; not so much on Jeep trails. We liked this place much better than other campsites we've visited in the area. We will definitely return. Advanced reservations are required during high summer season. The only discount is for military veterans. The owner is a WWII veteran and recognizes our service. This is a tourist destination town. It is former mining town which today caters to offroad enthusiasts. Jeeps are everywhere. There are curio shops and dining and drinking establishments galore. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Plan to have a good time.

This is a great park. Check in was so friendly and personable and really made me feel welcome. Location simply cannot be beat. Walking distance to everything in the awesome town of Ouray and surrounded by towering mountains, with a river bordering the poperty. I didn't stay on the river, I had an electric only near the street and it was nearly perfect. A little bit of street noise but easy in and out, not cramped, sunny in the cool morning and shady in the warm afternoon. The river view sites are definitely close together, but there's a great vibe going on over there and I wouldn't hesitate to stay in that end if I needed fhu or wanted a luxury view. Like others have said, the location is by far the best thing about the park, but I would say the friendliness of the staff is a very close second! Can't wait to return. Not sure why a previous reviewer says the Uncompagre River was "like a canal" - perhaps the time of year. Now, in June, it is rushing madly and we love listening to it. Great views even from inside the RV (we have the big back window overlooking the river). The sites are definitely close together - try to get River #1 - no neighbor on one side, and at a bit of an angle away from #2. As others have said, love that it is within walking distance of everything. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Try the Ouray Perimeter Trail if you are in to hiking - or at least go to Box Canyon Falls (which is included in the whole perimeter trail hike). Also recommend the 15 minute drive to Ridgway to eat on the rooftop Sky Bar at the Chipeta Lodge and Spa. Live music on Fridays. Great views, especially as the sun is setting.

This is a funky campground with a strange layout. The main section has the usual line of RV spots but across the (public) street are a line of E&W and non-serviced back in sites. We were in one of them. Had a tough time finding one that was level, but worked it out with blocks. We actually liked the site because it was very wide and had trees for privacy. The "riverside" sites weren't very impressive to me since the river is more like a canal running along the park with condos right on the other side. I certainly didn't think it was worth paying extra for them. The restroom and laundry room were clean and modern and showers worked well. The washers/dryers were a bit expensive but ok otherwise. There's also a folding table and a couple chairs. The best part of this place, as all others have mentioned, is that it's just a couple blocks from the center of town so no need to move your rig or unhook your tow/towed to go out for dinner etc. Nice. Wifi was mostly useless but Verizon worked well. I'd stay again. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Truck Camper.

We stayed in 4J for two nights. best place we stayed but mainly because of the location. We were able to walk into town, which was rare for most campgrounds.

The sites are very close together, have to juggle to put the awning up and have it over your picnic table, trying not to be too close to the sewage outlet! However the facilities were good and clean, showers free. WiFi very patchy and sometimes nonexistent.

Saying all that we would come back to the site, as it gave us everything we wanted. We camped at 4J+1+1 RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
