This is a really lovely park along the Colorado river with decent sites that are mostly nicely spaced, level, with two loops of full hookups. That's the good. Unfortunately, the bad list is much longer. Only poor 30 amp service which wasn't enough to run more than one of our ACs. You are right next to the interstate, so traffic is very loud and very consistent all hours of the day and night. There is a train next to the river that some folks complained about, but honestly, with the road noise, the train didn't bother us. The nice grass is watered, but the sprinkler heads need to be aimed better since our coach was sprayed leaving some very hard water deposits on it. Super easy on/off the interstate, so a decent place to spend a night, but I wouldn't recommend an extended stay. Due to the extremely hot weather and poor 30 amp service, we cut our stay short and will hopefully get a partial refund. No Verizon coverage, but we had very good AT&T coverage for our hotspot. Clear sky for satellite reception. Zero desire to stay here again. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Motorhome.

Stayed 1 night. Was hoping for good showers - not only do they cost $1.00 for 4 min. they were less than inviting. The laundry was also not very inviting but functional. Sites are well spaced and the walking trail along the river is nice. There is an additional $7.00 a night fee at the entrance. We will stay here again. We camped at James M. When we arrived there was no one in the booth. Good thing I had printed up our info so we knew where to park. We were never contacted and Rangers drove past. There is NO shade for the very most part. It was so hot we left a day early. The price show reflects the Park fee (we have an annual so it was not an issue from that standpoint). We would not stay there again. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Fifth Wheel.

We camped at a pull through site along the river. It's great to go directly from your site to the path along the river. Sites #1, 2 and 5 had more shade than our site. Sites are far enough apart to afford privacy. Each picnic table is under a shelter. The water pressure in the showers was almost painful and splattered into the dressing area. Showers are $1.00 for 4 minutes, but you can add extra minutes for $.25 each. The women's restroom ran out soap Friday, and it wasn't filled until Sunday. There are full hook up sites right next to the freeway, so we chose electricity only. There is a dump station and many water faucets. There's also a day use area with a swimming beach. Over all we liked this park and will stay there again. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Grand Mesa at 11000 feet is mountainous with many lakes and trails. The exit for it is just west of the campground. Grand Junction is about 20 miles west, and the Colorado National Monument is just west of Grand Junction. The area has many orchards and wineries.

Sites are adequate but the bathroom and shower facilities were filthy. Toilet close to our site was filled with swarms of black flies. Totally unusable! On exiting park on morning of departure was rudely accosted by park ranger. Will never stay here again and will not recommend!!! We camped at James M. James M Robb Colorado River State Park Island Acres is a Colorado State Park just outside Palisade, Colorado. It is in De Beque Canyon of the Colorado River and offers beautiful canyon views. We were in 50A full hookup site 61 for 5 nights. The sites are spacious. Nice walking trails. The negatives are highway noise from I-70 and train noise. Both pass through the narrow canyon next to the park. We would stay here again. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We drove up to the Grand Mesa National Forest to Lands End for spectacular views of the valley. We also visited Colorado National Monument outside Grand Junction and Fruita, Colorado. Beautiful drive on Rim Rock Road. We enjoyed fresh Palisade peaches. Grand Junction is 15 miles from the park and offers groceries, restaurants and Walmart.

Beautiful State Park. In fact I haven't yet found a Colorado State Park I didn't like. Beautiful nature trail all along the Colorado River. It can get 100 degrees in mid-July but the mesas on both sides help hide the sun earlier and later in the day. Tip: Start your AC early, set it lower to begin with and use your awning. Verizon doesn't work well, but AT&T is pretty good. The restrooms are not as nice as in others, but they are satisfactory. The camp hosts are very nice and friendly. I will certainly return again. Nice relaxing 5 day stay. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Travel Trailer.

Rate includes $10 transaction fee for online booking plus $7/night park fee paid upon arrival. They accept credit cards. If you plan to stay at other CO parks, you might consider buying an annual pass.

We had a pull-through site which was plenty long. Sites are well-spaced. Our site had a covered picnic table which was nice because it was quite sunny and warm mid-June.

There is a fishing pond and a (different) swimming pond. The Colorado River runs along the back of the property and there is a nice pathway for walking. The campground is "sandwiched" between two mountain walls and they are beautiful. We're told big horn sheep come down to the river but, sadly, we never saw any.

The good news is that the campground is super easy access off the 70 highway. The bad news is that the 70 highway is also sandwiched between the mountain walls so the noise is pretty constant. It didn't bother us but I could see that it might bother some especially if you're trying to sit outside and relax.

One negative is that a nearby neighbor was pretty boisterous one night until 1am. We were surprised park patrol and/or the camp host didn't shut them down. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Colorado National Monument is absolutely beautiful. If you plan to hike (highly recommend), start early in the morning and plan carefully (proper shoes, sunscreen, water-water-water and more water, nutrition, etc). It's very hot and dry in mid-June. Don't underestimate the sun and heat.

The only draw back here was road noise! But, The scenery was incredible, and we got used to the noise. Great location for day trips around Grand Junction. Espesially up to Grand Mesa.
Sites were mostly pull through, gravel. great shelters with picnic tables at most sites. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Travel Trailer.

While traveling through Colorado and Utah we stayed here for three nights. Like all Colorado State Parks we've stayed, sites are a nice sized and impeccably clean. The site was fully serviced with trees separating the sites. The only negatives were poor cell phone service. I found AT&T worked better than Verizon. We didn't have wifi but not a big deal. The only complaint we had was proximity to the interstate; sitting outside the trailer there was a lot of highway noise.

We would stay here again if traveling through the area. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Travel Trailer.

We spent the night here on our way to California. We were surprised about the great full service site we got for $24 plus $7 park fee. Our rate was for site with electric plus $7 fee for daily park pass. Just off I-70 but road noise not as issue. Mostly back-in, but some pull-through. One mile walking path along the Colorado River with signs identifying local foliage. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Motorhome.

Beautiful, extremely well maintained park, right on the Colorado River, with paved roads and most sites level gravel that drain well after rain. Both back-in and pull-thru available. Adjacent to I-70 so noisy traffic (did not disturb sleep, but we were at the farthest site away from freeway in Loop C). Train across the river runs several times a night until 11:00. Friendly, helpful rangers. No wi-fi, no TV antenna reception. AT&T works well. Good dog walking areas. Utilities work well; 30 amp only at all electric sites. Loop A is electric only (no city water, but water spigots available at park entrance and in loop); Loop B is tents only; Loops C & D are FHU. Fishing lake if so inclined. Great base for Grand Mesa touring or activities. Would stay again. We camped at James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park / Island Acres Section in a Fifth Wheel.
