Its a 6 mile drive up the mountain from Rifle, and absolutely worth it. Our site (114) was an easy in and out pull through and pretty private. The site is gorgeous. Everything worked well and was well maintained, but no WiFi. Highly recommended. We should have stayed longer. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go up the hill from Rifle. My GPS indicated that there was no RV access but this is not correct. I went up from New Castle, which is well out of the way and 12 twisting miles up rather than the 6 from Rifle. (New Castle is a cool little town, but take the RV up from Rifle.) Going down through Rifle was much easier and a lot shorter.

My wife and I stayed at Rifle Gap State Park for 2 nights. The park is located up on a hill outside the town and the views are wonderful. The park was very clean and quiet ... well except for the birds in the morning but no complaints about them. The cement pad was long enough for our 41' 5th wheel. One word of caution, the area next to the pad that has the hookups is filled with rather large, rounded, rocks. Make sure you give yourself enough room on that side of your rig so you don't have to navigate your way through the ankle breakers each time you have to access your utilities. Other than that, it was a wonderful place to rest for a few days. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

A wonderful campground in almost all ways. Very large site, excellent hookups. Lots of space to walk. Downside--no cell service so we had no phone or internet contact. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Rifle Falls is one of the most picturesque falls you will ever see. I am a photographer and I took LOTS of pictures. There is a short trail (1 1/2 miles I think) up and around the top of the falls - don't miss it if you can.

Rifle Gap State Park is 7 miles north of Rifle, Colorado. We stayed in Lakeview Loop in sites 13 & 27. Lakeview is full hookup with excellent water quality but low (<40 psi) water pressure. Large, well groomed sites (thanks to the park hosts). Pads are level paved concrete pads. Wide asphalt roadways. Great campsite views of the lake and mountains. Clean restrooms. Pay showers. Very quiet park (no large roads or railroads). We would stay again. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access and maneuvering within park for 45' MH. Little to no shade. If reserving a site, use Google Earth to determine which sites have covered picnic tables (not sure why some sites have covered tables and others don't, but with lack of shade trees, you will appreciate the cover). Water pressure is real low, so simply fill your fresh water tank and run off your water pump. Host informed me they use a RO system (so water is good quality) but use 3 lift pumps to get the water to the Lakeview campground and struggle to maintain pressure, especially if the campground is full. Our Rand McNally GPS took us to the Rifle Correctional Facility instead of the campground. Follow the signs to the Visitor Center (no signs for 'campground') and you will be fine, as you check in at the visitor center. If crossing the dam, you will go over short 1 lane bridge marked 20 ton weight limit. Our 26 ton MH was fine, so don't worry. Interior roads are asphalt and pads are concrete. Everything was well maintained. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

Our GPS devices brought us right to the visitors center and then we went to our site and backed in and setup. The interior roads were asphalt as was our parking site. The pad for the Lifestyle was concrete. The rest of the site was gravel including the covered picnic table. The hookups were convenient and we had a great line of sight for our roof mounted satellite dish. The only downside to this great park is it is in a deadzone for cellular phone and data. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate does not include daily entrance fee as we have a CO yearly pass. This is another super CO state park. Other states should model their SP system after CO. Huge level site with covered picnic table, fire ring and wonderful lake views. The whole campground is big rig friendly. No WiFi and spotty Verizon cell service, but we found you could get a signal at the golf course a few miles down hill. The 6-7 miles once you turn off CO 13 and to camping loop are narrow and winding, but doable and worth the effort. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go up to Rifle Falls SP and see the falls and hike up to the fish hatchery, it's awesome. Harvey Gap is also close and a pretty drive. No camping there but nice site for a picnic and fishing. Rifle has everything you need to restock your RV.

This might just be our best state park camping experience ever. Pull through sites are paved and there is an adjoining patio of raked gravel, a shelter, a picnic table, and a fire ring. Showers are pay, four minutes for a dollar. Hookups worked well, we showered in our motorhome. There is also a dump site down by the office for the other campgrounds that don't have sewer hookups. Lakeview is the only one with full hookups. This place looks like golf course people are taking care of it. When booking your site be sure that your RV will not be parked between you and the view. Large, paved sites and roads. Utilities worked well but water pressure was extremely low at 20 psi. Our site at the top of the loop (site 51) was very quiet which we loved. Verizon signal was sparse, there sometimes and not others. If this park had Wifi and better cell service I would give it a 10. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

Another beautiful Colorado State Park. Park is an easy drive from Rifle. Wi-Fi access ends about a quarter mile from the Rifle Gap dam. Pick your site carefully if you want a lake view from your site. The road to the CGs are narrow but the road within the CGs are wide. Sites are well maintained and clean. All utilities worked fine. Beautiful view from the Lake view Loop. Could be a bit exposed if windy or bad weather. Lovely clean sites, well maintained. Be aware you need to pay an additional $7.00 a day park fee on top of your camping fee. But it does give you access to Rifle Falls Park as well as Rifle Gap park when you go exploring. We stopped here for a quick overnight and fell in love with this state park. To be clear, it's a ways off of I-70. To get to it requires traveling a windy and sometimes narrow road with some very sharp turns. It makes for some interesting times in a 40' class A motorhome. But the drive is worth it!!!

The park is one of the nicest state parks we've ever camped in. Check in was a breeze. The site itself was a pull through and the pad was concrete. The utility hookup was very clean with all the utilities either in a concrete box or in very clean and raked gravel.

The picnic table is covered by a small pavilion which is located on a gravel pad. I was amazed that even the gravel pad had been raked prior to our arrival.

The only reason that this park is not rated a "10" is because there is no shade. Still, this is an absolutely beautiful park located on the lake. I'll be back. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

First the Colorado State Park Campgrounds are fantastic we have not had a bad stay in one so far. We could only stay 3 nights at Rifle Gap as we came without reservations. We stayed in the Lakeview section with outstanding views full hookups and a roof over the table.

The sites are spacious, sunny and open with a concrete pad, picnic table and fire ring. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Travel Trailer.

One of the great Colorado state parks with full hookups in the Lakeview loop. Other loops closer to the water have electric and water or just electric. Dump station is available. In the Lakeview loop, the sites are large and most have great views of the water and hills. On site host does a great job on having a pristine, clean site for you when you arrive. He even rakes the gravel. Sites had a level concrete slab for the rv, with picnic table and fire pit. Some picnic tables have a covering. Restrooms and showers were clean. We were at the top of the hill in site 53 and it was so quiet with nobody in front of us and nothing but a hill and some deer to the passenger side. This is a great state park and we shall definitely return. The cell service for ATT was limited but was available at certain locations in the park.
