This place is all about location, close to Salida and right on the banks of the Arkansas River. Anywhere else it would be just an average park, but the location makes it magical. We intended to stay 4 nights but decided right away that was not enough. The park is always pretty full, so we had to move to stay 4 more nights. We moved to a premium riverfront site at $68/day, and it was worth every bit of that, although way more than I would usually pay. You can't beat sitting on your riverbank patio listening to the water rush by. Our original site across the road was also nice. The only bad thing I can say is the electrical system needs upgraded. We had no problems with voltage or interruptions, but they were asking people to put their water heaters on propane to save strain on the system. The boxes are old, worn and very close to the ground. Hookups are at the back of the site, so you may need extra hose or extensions. Site lengths are all over the place, so reserve the appropriate size. Someone said Verizon service was bad, but we had good enough Verizon phone and internet. I definitely plan to come back. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Salida is a great tourist town with all kinds of activities close. Rafting, tubing, kayaking and fishing on the river (catch and release). Hiking and bicycling are big, also plenty of back country driving nearby for Jeep and ATV. Lots of good restaurants, try the Boathouse, with open air patio overlooking the river.

We had a river front site, the sound of the River was wonderful. The park has many mature trees and is well kept. The desk staff are friendly, and any questions or concerns were looked after promptly. The new remodel of the premium spots are well done, the spots are angled to face the river, and gives an almost private view. Wifi and water pressure are very good. While the staff was friendly and helpful, the sites are very close and it feels crowded. Also, it was hot, and their electrical system is older, so they had trouble accommodating the needs. (We were asked to keep our water heaters on propane, and still in 3 days, their breakers needed to be re-set twice. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Location, location, location--That's what makes this park so popular. We have stayed here a number of times. This time we had to take a premium river site--all that was available. It was a very nice site but a little pricey. At least half of the park is occupied by people who spend the summer there and reserve their sites a year ahead. Many sites have shade. Sites on the upper level are right on the road, and it is very noisy. Wi fi is better than it used to be, but still goes out frequently. It was off a whole day this time. No TV at all; Verizon doesn't work well at all. The community room has been painted and fixed up and looks nice, but the roads into and out of the park are full of ruts and have been for years. The laundry is pretty much unusable. Long term campers go to town to do laundry. After I spent several dollars trying to dry clothes, I took them to town. Supposedly the park is getting a new sewer system to eliminate the odor in the bathrooms and laundry, but we didn't see anyone working on it. Despite all the negatives, we do enjoy the park and plan to come back. The owner is very nice, as was all the staff. Our utilities worked well, and our site was spacious. Unless you are in one of 3 premium sites, the river sites are very crowded and tend to be a bit short for big rigs. Sites are back in; I believe there is one pull through. We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Salida has an indoor pool facility. If you suffer from arthritis, you can attend an exercise class in the warm hot spring water on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning for $1. Pancake Patio and County Bounty both offer really good breakfasts. The Italian restaurant at the end of town is excellent. Also the Mexican restaurant as you come into town is really good. Shortly before dusk, drive out Co. Rd. 101 to look for wildlife; it is just a short distance from the park.

We have stayed here many times, always for at least a month. The park is beautiful with huge, mature trees at each site with sites either on or near the Arkansas River. The park is pretty old, but the restrooms are clean with super water pressure in the showers. The main draw here of course is being on the river, but the town of Salida is a real gem. There are plenty of restaurants and miles of walking trails both paved throughout town and along the river. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Free spotty WiFi and no reception on our antenna. It is a nice campground to be but a little pricey for our standards especially what you get for it. Probably it is the location on the river. Though nice back ins in the D row with little grass and trees and because of low season full view over the river. The highway slows down at night. We were in a Rally otherwise would not have chosen this park. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Good news and bad news about this park, but overall thought it was far too pricey for what you get.

First the good news: It is just a couple of miles from Salida, and it is along the Arkansas River. We stayed in a 'river' site and it was pleasant being next to the river. There are large trees which help shade the sites. The wifi worked most of the time, of course lower to incredibly slow when presumably lots of people were using it. We normally use Verizon as hot spot, but because the sites sit down in elevation along the river, the signal was 3G. Tailgater did not work because of trees - over-the-air TV provided a few stations including ABC from CO Springs. Showers were clean.

Bad news - This park seems pretty old and old-fashioned. It appears they are very gradually trying to improve some of structures, etc. The sites are all of varying lengths. The road is dirt and bumpy in places with some tight corners - so make sure you know your rig's limitations.

There is traffic noise from Hwy 50 which was lessened by being on the sites that are lower in elevation and closer to the river.

There was trash at our site on the river bank - some plastic sheeting and old branches - it looked like several of the other sites were cleaned up.

There are a lot of rules and sporadically enforced. You can only have two vehicles at your site. We drive a truck and camper and pull a 10' utility trailer. We offloaded the camper but then that counted as 3 vehicles. So we always had to have the truck or the trailer parked about 500' away.

The rec room is a bit of a mess - dirty, everything old. Looked like it hadn't changed in 30 years.

The staff (two we met) weren't that well informed. When we checked in, the staff was at odds about the park map.

We no longer have a dog, but several dog people complained about the dog poo policy - few places to walk dog and hardly any trash bins (2).

There are many other campgrounds in area that are cheaper and nicer. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

Tons to do in the area - we spend a lot of time over there - fishing, mountain biking, dirt biking, hiking. Walmart on Hwy 50 in west Salida is the best place for anything you need. There is free camping on the BLM land just east of this park. There are also 5 state park campgrounds along the river (no hookups) - we like Ruby Mountain near Buena Vista.

We stayed at the Four Seasons RV Park. It is NOT a "Resort." We highly recommend NOT staying here.

Rude staff. Poor information--not given information about RV site types and cost--just "take it or leave it." We were assigned a spot in the row facing US 50 surrounded by people staying one night while we were here for three verrrrryyy long weeks.

We were not given an escort to our site and ended up entering facing the "wrong way." After three days we were forced to pull-out, drive around, and reorient during a rain storm.

The staff were snippy. Example: I told one boy we did not have a picnic table; he said we did. I said we did not. Then he looked and confirmed I was telling the truth.

Had we been offered the option of a more expensive site farther from the highway and away from the "one-nighters" we might have taken it, but we were not given an option--just given a price and confirmation of reservation.

There are restrooms but they are not very clean and they smell funny, as does the laundry room. In fact, the laundry room smells like a sewer leak overlain with mildew and dirty diapers. Most of the washers were broken...ditto the dryers. There are only 3-4 of each type, so we had to go into town to do laundry. Not enough working machines and a really foul smell.

The sites do not have concrete or gravel patio areas and are therefore constantly muddy. The sites are fairly narrow and made entirely of grass (except under the RV), and the sprinklers come on getting everything outside wet.

Children are allowed to run around after the 10 P.M. quiet hour start. Of course the staff have long since left and don't know this.

There are trees overhanging much too close to the RV roof--we could not adjust our antenna since it was in the trees, and had to climb on the roof to lower it for our unexpected move since the antenna was trapped in the trees. The trees interfere with fully extending the awning--and a fully extended awning intrudes into the adjacent site. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here for one night at one of the sites facing US-50. Road noise is definitely noticeable, but with a fan on it's fine. Price reflects a Good Sam discount on a $36.50 price.

Site itself was fine and level, sites are a bit close together but have a nice grassy median between. Dumpsters were filled to bursting, which made taking out garbage kind of gross.

I had three main gripes with this campground:

- Their dryers give you THREE MINUTES per quarter. What the heck?! I have never seen such terrible pricing. For that price, the dryer better be strong, but of course it wasn't. I put in $2.00 worth of quarters and got 24 minutes, plus clothing that was still warm and wet. So disappointing.

- Sprinklers placed directly along the edge of the grassy medians, which make it impossible to enter or exit your RV or trailer without getting soaked.

- They have a sign posted at their main entrance from the highway stating "LP Gas refilled here", however they will not refill unless you are a guest. Why have the sign there then? Have a sign inside if it's for guests only. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you need to refill propane, the True Value in town on US-50 fills both canisters and in-RV tanks.

Walmart is right along US-50, about a 10 minute drive away.

Be sure to check out downtown Salida, it's beautiful!!

If you don't need a bathroom or electricity your OK here. However our campsite was not supplied with 110v outlets and the bathroom showers did not turn on, in fact they smelled of raw sewage. We arrived on Saturday evening and by the time I set up camp and found no working electric hook up, the office was closed at 7pm and Sunday hours were 1pm open. So needless to say with no listing of camp phone number on paper work supplied by them we packed up in the morning to leave. Upon leaving I was able to get a week cell phone signal so I called and complained about the conditions and the owner woman hung up on me. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

After entering from a very steep entry, we were concerned about heading down the road to the river spot. The road is bumpy and needing maintenance, but the sight turned out to be OK. The river was rushing by and a little scary, but it was fun watching the rafters. I feel there needs to be a little more attention to upkeep, there were weeds, trees needing limbs trimmed and other maintenance that could make this park very nice. The park has no cable, we were unable to get Direct because of hills & trees, and only 1 local channel came in on antenna. It left us wanting for info.

It served our purpose for visiting but would hope they would put some effort into making this a nicer place. Of course all parks depend upon the campers who visit. We had a older gentleman who was up early slamming his doors and yelling at his dog! Every morning starting this way was not pleasant. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This one is hard to rate as it has new owners and they are trying hard. But still, the access off the highway has a serious crown, twisting the rig. The road in and out of the park are seriously rutted. The premium loops are OK, but the site we had was small, narrow and short. With the other traffic parked around us site entry was extremely difficult. Probably OK for trailers, fiver and shorter motor coaches but difficult for big rigs. It did have decent Internet but the rates were quite high. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This park is just a few minutes outside of Salida and right on the river. While we did not have a river site we were close enough to enjoy the sight and sound of it. This park appears to be family owned and operated and everyone was friendly and helpful. While they are working hard there is a lot more to do to make this a first-rate park. Nevertheless, we enjoyed a quiet stay and the location is great. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
