Stayed July 2 & 3. We found it to be a very nice location for our situation. We did notice that some of the spaces are a bit skinny as the spots must have laid out before the age of monster RVs with multiple slide outs. Fortunately, we drive a Roadtrek and had plenty of room. Also fortunate is that they are dog friendly. We camped at Monarch Spur RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

We pulled in and were told we were in site #10. We made our reservation specifically for our 42' 5th wheel trailer. Couldn't make the turn. Once into the site, noticed that our sewer connection was being used by a motorhome that was not even in a site, but was parked on the end of a row. Looking around, it is clear that over 50% of the sites were being used as residences. When I entered the office to advise of the lack of sewer hookup, the owner was on the phone, obviously with a debt collector. When I told the owner of the sewer problem she said, "Yeah, I know, we've been dealing with it all summer." Why wouldn't you take care of the problem then is what I thought? Finally got sewer line at 10:00 P.M. thanks to an employee who works there. There is absolutely no wifi at this park. Not even sitting in the office! No Cell service either. I would give this campground 0 stars, but this system doesn't support that. Do yourself a favor and keep driving, or find another place to reserve. We camped at Monarch Spur RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Don't be fooled by other good reviews. The owners are very nice but the campground is a dump. It looks like it may have been nice at one time but it was very poorly maintained. Sites are very tight! The shower smelled like a skunk lived in it. The showers worked and the washer and dryers also worked. If you don't care what your surroundings look like come to Monarch spur. if you want a nice well-maintained Campground worth the money go elsewhere. We camped at Monarch Spur RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The sites were close, none level. Our site had a dip that we were not able to avoid. There seems to be no maintenance done, over grown trees and weeds every where, hard to get in and out without running into a tree branch. They said they have WiFi, but we were not able to get on the three days we stayed and neither did any one else we talked to, had to go to the library in Salida. We camped at Monarch Spur RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed for a week and only had a couple of problems, all including "pets". Had to protect ours small <10 lb. dog on two occasions from large untied dogs. Next was a pet that was left alone that barked nonstop for 5 hours. The park appeared to be a little rundown and mowed areas were non-existence. Sites were very small, water pressure was weak, no AT&T service, free wifi was very poor. Laundry and bathroom were clean and maintained. will not stay again. We camped at Monarch Spur RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stays here. The hummingbirds and chipmunks are wonderful entertainment. We spotted a dusty grouse on one of our hikes. The scenery is magnificent. The river is beautiful and relaxing. The history of the area is interesting, and there are lots of areas to explore, on and off the property. The sites are a bit tight (designed before larger RVs with slides), but plenty long enough and manageable. The sites aren't perfectly level, but it's easy to make any minor adjustments. We couldn't get a cell signal, but the owners were kind enough to allow the use of their office phone when necessary, and it was a short drive to find a cell signal. The WiFi is sometimes slow and unreliable, but we suspect some of the campers may be streaming videos. Keep in mind that this is not a "resort" campground, but a "Mom and Pop" operation, and the owners are terrific. The utilities are reliable, the restrooms and laundry room were clean and well maintained. We stayed here a week and never ran out of stuff to do. We stored our RV for several weeks (very reasonable rates) and then returned for a couple more days. We will definitely camp here again whenever we are in the area. Sites and interior roads are gravel. Sites are very, very tight and extremely unlevel. We camped here in a 40 foot motorhome with four slides. It was very difficult to manuver in and out. We ended up with scratches down the side of our rig. Sites have no area around your coach to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Each site does have a firering and we just prayed no one would start a fire as the ring was located right next to our coach. No cell service. WiFi was okay. Owner and workers are very nice. The surrounding scenery is beautiful. You are within walking distance to a pond which is regularly stocked with trout. We would not stay here again unless we had a much smaller rig. VERY TIGHT GETTING IN AND OUT OF SPACES. We were going to use the community room & found a tenter asleep on the couch. Lots of tenters in the back across stream, we were afraid to leave our stuff out. Pool is closed. Wi-Fi is so so. This is really just a stopping place when you have no where else to stop. We camped at Monarch Spur RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We picked this park because it was the only one in the area on our trip from Chama, NM to Gunnison, CO. Unfortunately, we were disappointed because the interior roads were narrow and very dusty. The sites were even narrower, with very little space between them, and very unlevel. Our front tires were way off the ground!!!! There was no AT&T cell signal, so I had to borrow the phone in the office to make a call. The wi-fi was “iffy” at times, but the 50A was very good. I really don’t think that we’d stay here again. We camped at Monarch Spur RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

We picked this camp because of dog rules. It turned out to be a great place. We had the top teired site number 30 and it was great. There where no permanent campers or loggers. If you atv there are trails right outside the campground. Monarch Pass was just up the road. The aspen where turning and the views where outstanding. The owner took over from her brother who died. She lived on the site when she was a kid, and spoke of all the history. We camped at Monarch Spur RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
