Really enjoyed our stay at this park. Very clean and well maintained. Convenient dog park and fishing too! Spaces are well staggered so that sense of privacy maintained. We will return! We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Our 7th night was free so when I divide it by 6 it came to $47.26 a night including electric which you pay after you leave and they read the meter. There are a couple of things we were told on the phone which didn't really pan out for us. We wanted to stay where we could get on ATV trails without trailering. When we got there supposedly half the town can and we weren't in that half. We could ride out to one trail, but we got lost with their awful trail maps, ended up in town & did get stopped. We trailered the rest of the week. We were told the electric would be $5 - $15 dollars, our was, our friends were higher & we ran very little ac. The site otherwise was great, great backdrop. It's not real large & the trees don't provide shade until late in day. Police patrol. Manager tries to keep the bears at bay. The wifi was sketchy. Antenna picked up 0 channels, but direct TV satellite worked great. Very dusty there, it has been so dry in Co. We had rain one night. The park was very quiet until the morning we were leaving. Rude camper across from us ran his noisy truck before 6:30 in am as he was packing up to leave, left it running for at least 30 minutes, loud. Wasn't cold so no clue why it had to warm up. Office staff is great. There isn't much to Southfork so you need to go to ride trails or ski. Creede is great to visit. There is a dog park, fenced, but our dog wouldn't use it, he thinks he's not a dog. The river is a very short walk away. Husband did catch (and release) trout. Never saw a fish in the pond. Park is right off hwy but I couldn't really hear road noise. If you ride an ATV out of this park, do it at your own risk. And go left not right. Our pull through was gravel, was great for truck, 5th wheel, + 16 ft trailer. I would stay there again. Our campers were a bit close together but we were traveling with friends so it was OK. Most all campers are exposed to the full sun most of the day. Saloon was never open so no comment there. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is right off Hwy. 160, but is set back far enough that road noise is not a problem. Sites and roads are medium size gravel, spacious, and well mapped out. The facilities; club house, laundry, dog run, and trail to the river's edge and the catch and release pond are all pristine. No sites are located directly on the river. All sites are pull-through with full hook ups. Utilities are well placed and in great working order; each with a gravel patio, picnic table, and fire ring. We were greeted both on phone when setting up reservations and then again at check-in with friendly, helpful staff. There was even an escort to the site. There are no trees on the sites, but it's Colorado guys; who needs shade when the high is 72 degrees. Using our Passport America discount for the first night and Good Sam for the remaining three nights, we paid $37.00 per night. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Peacock Meadows is a very nice campground off Rt 160 just east of South Fork. It is well maintained and staff are very friendly and attentive. They are always working on the grounds and buildings. There are only 2 family style bathrooms for the entire campground. But there was never a wait to get in and the bathrooms were probably the nicest we've ever seen in a campground, with nice tile, Asian style furniture and a large roman shower. There was a lot of room for all sizes of rigs with generous space. Although sites were gravel and dirt, not really any grass. There are walking trails into wooded areas leading to a private pond and the banks of the Rio Grande River, both quiet areas with benches for seating and picnicking. This beautiful river area wasn't even used except by us. The river area alone makes it worth staying here again. Wifi was spotty at best and almost unusable. My only real negative is about how sparse the campground is of trees. There is no shade in intense sun at 8200 ft elevation. We thought the back-in sites along the edges were a bit more private than the interior pull-thru sites. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed with a group so our rate was included with the group which included many other things. Nice campground with easy access off the highway. Small store and office in the front with showers, bathrooms, laundry and recreation area in the back of the park. Gravel roads and sites that were big enough for our 40' 5th. Some highway noise but overall not bad. Good views of some of the mountains near by and the Rio Grande river is at the back end of the park. FHU and power and water pressure were very good. We only overnighted it so this review should be taken in that context. The WiFi was not working so that was bit disappointing. I'm not sure why someone would build a RV Park with only two restrooms/showers. Whatever, people appear to like this place according to the previous reviews. For the price, this was a nice stop. The campground sites themselves were nothing special, but the hosts are awesome! It was July 4th and they hosted a nice happy hour with hot dogs and chicken. Never seen an RV park do this. Friendly guests. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is only a few years old. The owners have spared no expense with infrastructure and facilities. Very friendly staff and really enjoyed the access to the river and the nature areas around the camp. Don't expect shade as the trees are all newly planted. My only knock would be there are only 2 rooms with bathroom/shower facilities and is located at the far end of the camp. Great place to stay! Very nice new park. The only drawback is there is no cable TV and I couldn't get any OTA reception. The owners were very helpful, gave us a lot of info about local attractions. The sites are gravel but level. No trees yet but there are a lot of new plantings that should grow in a few years. There is a nice wooded area around the lake and along the river. It's a good birding area. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

South Fork isn't much, but a trip up the road to Creede is worth it. Also a day trip over Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs was good. The Malt Shop in Pagosa Springs has good food, but can be crowded.

A new park just in its second year. Friendly staff. Park is gravel roads and sites with no trees. Facilities are nice, new and clean. Fishing in pond is catch and release but property extends to the Rio Grande river for fishing also. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Newest RV Park in the South Fork area. There are some signs it's new - like the dog park fence looks only days old, it's cleaned and scrubbed of weeds, etc., but is still dirt. However, from the pile next to the park, they are working hard on giving it a surface that will be dog friendly, yet doable in rain/other weather, and still survivable in high mountain areas where grass just doesn't grow well. Fishing pond and access to the Rio Grande River fishing with nice walkable trails (dogs welcome on trails). Rec Hall doubles as a "Saloon" Thursday - Saturday nights with live music and/or karaoke. Sites are gravel and level. Excellent wifi, strong cell signal area. One of the few open all year (and engineered for it!) as it's the closest to Wolf Creek Ski Area as well as many other winter sports areas. Friendly, helpful owners available even after hours. I recommend this park for both short stays and for longer term stays in a great recreation area. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was one of the few sites in Colorado that is open year round, has full hook-ups, can accommodate a 40' 5th wheel all while being in a very beautiful part of Colorado. As such, it is where we chose to take our test run in preparation for a year long journey. The management team, were amazing. I told them ahead of time that we were new at this, and they promised to make as easy on us as possible. When we arrived, we were quickly checked in and they led us to our site. And more importantly, helped me back our rig in ensuring that there were no casualties! The site was very clean, the whole place was very clean. In fact, we watched them cleaning up the sites before new folks would arrive. Not an easy task during Colorado winters to keep a park this well maintained. The bathrooms and showers were amazing. The WiFi was fast and available everywhere. There weren't many folks there because of the time of year, but the sites seemed roomy, the pond was cool and access to the river was great. Overall, this was a great first time experience for us, and the management team made it happen! We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is probably one of the nicest parks in the South Fork area. The sites are generously sized so you don't feel crowded by a neighbor. We usually don't use the restrooms, but our kids used the showers and I have to say they have the nicest private bathrooms/showers I have ever seen at a campground. There were immaculate! And the common area/kitchen room where they have get together's and pot-lucks is beautiful! You can really tell that the campground management puts a lot of effort into making this place beautiful. The fishing pond and Rio Grande river behind the campground was beautiful with all the trees in bright fall colors reflecting in the water. The camp hosts were so friendly and nice and it was a pleasant check-in. Verizon worked well there, and also the park WiFi was the best campground WiFi we have ever experienced. It worked better than our Verizon MiFi! I only have 2 issues with the campground which is why I won't give them 5 stars. First, they charge extra for kids. I can understand a park charging extra for kids when they have a lot of amenities for kids, but this park does not have anything extra for kids except for a tiny playground that was too small for our kids. Our community of fulltime traveling families call this a "kid tax" and we usually avoid parks that charge it. The second thing is the park was mostly empty when we were there, but they parked other campers on both sides of us a couple of times during the week. I don't understand the logic of cramming people right next to each other when there are so many empty sites available to spread people out a little more. We camped at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We found this to be a decent campground for the area. At this time of year all the campgrounds we saw were full, and looked very tight. We liked that there is more room between sites here. This is a relatively new park, and the owners are still getting things going. The utilities worked well, as did the free WiFi, but they cannot get grass to grow well, so there are weeds that can grow pretty tall between cuttings. The location is great for a trip to Ouray.
