I have read past reviews with mixed results. They are working hard to make improvements. The sites near ours need some tlc but overall it is a decent park. Downside is it is pretty expensive but you can't beat the location. The staff was the hardest working group we have seen in a long time. We will stay here again. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

So many things to do. There is a long walkway along the river, mountain biking in summer and you must take the tram to the top of Steamboat mountain. Lunch was a little pricey at the top but good.

All the employees were polite and helpful. The pool was small and cold so we didn't use it. Mini golf was nice and free. Wifi was quite slow. Maybe good for checking email, but not much else. There were quite a few barking dogs in the park, which was annoying. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed this park. We had lots of grass on our site and a concrete pad. Its located on the river and we could tube from town to our site. We also took advantage of the free shuttle bus to town. The employees were extra nice. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Booked 3 nights to visit friends in the area, and made the mistake of reserving an individual site ($5 extra charge) without seeing it or talking to the local park staff. When we arrived it was raining and many of the sites were muddy or had standing water (ours had very little grass and lots of mud, but at least no standing water). Not the park's fault, but we went to the office and asked for one with more grass so our dogs ($18 additional charge) would not track mud into our home. The staff was very polite but said they could not move us, even though there were two sites next to us that were vacant and had more grass, as they had people moving in. I wouldn't even mention this, but you guessed it...we never saw another person in either site all three days! Very frustrating! The WiFi was almost unusable but they are up-front about this fact and tell you this in advance. The pool was small and cold but they say it is heated. The proximity to downtown Steamboat Springs is great, as it is just 2 miles away, and the KOA store was one of the best I have seen, with plenty to choose from. The mini golf was nice, and the tent area looked amazing! The river was running really fast so I would hate to see a small unattended child get close. We didn't see anyone fishing, but one of the staff said they usually do pretty good there. The bathrooms were pretty good, but my wife said the ladies floor always had a lot of water. Over 50 TV channels and they came in clear. I saw plenty of employees working hard to make improvements around the park, and everyone we talked to was friendly and courteous. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

If you like BBQ try Steamboat Smokehouse right on the main drag and next to a great gelato shop. Fantastic wings and cheese curds and the brisket melted in our mouths! Nice bar as well!

Had a wonderful stay, as usual, at this KOA in Steamboat. The manager and his staff were a delight after the horrible experience I had at one about an hour and a half down 1-70. . The staff in steamboat is always so friendly and helpful. If you are fortunate enough to get a site on the yampa, you can sleep to the sound of the rover. Another perk is this KOA is the last stop on the free city bus line, so you can go to town for a drink and not worry about getting back safely. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

This campground is definitely improved this year! Restroom renovation is completed. Because restrooms are heavily used, by mid afternoon they are a little messy, and floors are art. RV spaces are nice--easy leveling and fairly spacious. Best camping however is in the back portion of property which is not accessible to trailers and rV's. Biggest negative is the noise from the highway. We also thought cost on the high side. We probably won't stay again unless we can reserve a space along the river--which is beautiful and would somewhat mask the traffic noise. This is is the best RV option if you want to be close to town, but we wouldn't recommend it if you want to spend time outside relaxing in your camp spot. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This park was a huge disappointment. The spaces were the smallest I have ever seen in terms of width and length and the price was the highest. The park was completely packed with baseball families that were in a softball tournament. Management didn't bother to tell me that. The noise level was outrageous. I called the office late evening but they told me that the quiet time didn't begin until 10pm and they didn't give me the phone number of the manager. So when I called up past 10 to complain about the noise, I got just an answering machine. The manager was nearly impossible to get a hold of later that week and I had to call corporate several times to finally get in touch with him. He was a complete jerk. He gave me a song and dance about why apparently the noise was so bad, which was just bogus excuses. Then he tried to deny that noise was even a problem. I could hear the people outside that night even over my headphones! He refused to make any sort of refund or adjustment whatsoever, even though I was kept awake for hours. After viewing this RV park ratings on Yelp, I learned then that others have had problems with the manager. I haven't stayed at a KOA since. This was the worst RV park I have ever stayed at, and I have been to a lot of parks. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.

$3 per pet & child fee added $9 a day for no amenities. $63 for the week for what? No working internet, no pool, no playground, no pet area and multiple dogs and cats running loose around. The campground was mud, we could not even walk our dogs without other strange dogs running up to us.

Only 1 bathhouse open during remodel, so ladies and men had to share alternate hours. No recycling bins were provided either.

Campground must have poor drainage since at one point the campground was underwater due to snow melt. Only place open in town, was happy to at least get a 30Amp site.

Mostly permanent guests with trash outside their trailers, some trailers so old, I don't know if they'd even drive out of there. The guy next to us had his own full-on private disco in his RV every night with loud music and flashing lights to entertain himself, he at least kept it quiet during quiet hours, but was annoying the rest of the time. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Parked across from us and within view of our front windows is well worn Southwind with no license plate and junk all over their patio area. Not what I like to see at any campground, especially when I have paid for a "Deluxe" site @ $50+ per night. Checked in 3:30 p.m. tried to call office at 4:24 and no one answering phone. Employee party. No answer to phone next morning. Receipt to be sent by email. Not yet received as of 4:50 p.m. next day. Patio cement is broken. We were in 42' MH. Would not stay here again. Dirty park throughout campground from restrooms, shower and pool. Dumpsters were over flowing with trash. An old leather sofa and bales of hay were outside by one of the cabins. Not very appealing. Had no water for three days because of broken main. Campers were not informed. Had to track info down ourselves. Camp workers at office were rude. We were later told to fill holding tanks when they turned on the water for a short time during the repair. Charged 3.00 a day for a 15 pound dog. Facility had no dog park! Beware travelers - do not stay here! We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Many of the previous reviews written in summer/fall of 2015 are pretty accurate. What the park has going for it is its location. It is conveniently located near downtown and the city bus stops at the park at least hourly. We had stayed here in fall of 2014 when it was Steamboat Campground and we were disappointed overall. Some sites had drainage issues and the park overall seemed rundown. We looked forward to returning after KOA took over. Unfortunately, not much has changed. There are still a lot of improvements to be made. Perhaps in the future this will be a really great RV park, but for now, it's just a convenient, bearable stopover. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here last year when this was an independent and now that it is a KOA, they raised the price $10 a night but not the quality. It still is a big RV park jammed into a small area. They still have not filled in the potholes. They still have not done something about the blowing dust. They still do not know how to clean bathrooms or showers properly. The tile is dated and the showers have mold in them. Some of the sites are so narrow, I saw two big rigs with their awnings out, almost touching each other. And the fire pits are so close to your trailer, it fills up with their smoke. They have a lot of rules on the books that they do not enforce. And they still have not improved the WIFI. It works best if you are in the pool area or in the sites across from the office. And they have two rates, week day and weekend. So the only difference from last year to this year is the staff rides around on their little tractors doing nothing in yellow shirts now. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This could be a great park if they would hire a bathroom attendant to keep their facilities clean. The park is in a good location, has mature tress and is family friendly with fun options to keep small children entertained. The sites are gravel and have picnic tables. Overall the park has a nice feel to it, but the common areas need more TLC. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.
