We were given a Route 66 membership. Route 66 never sent us a membership card, but did send an email showing we were members. It is supposed to mean a 10% discount, but this KOA would not honor it because it was a sheet of paper, not a card. We stayed a shorter time, so they made less money. Such an attitude does not go down well with these travelers. The grounds looked nice, but we spent our time in town. A lot of trees obscured some satellite channels and the park cable had a low quality signal. It rained a lot and mud was developing where the site's gravel was sparse. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.

As said before, only game in town. It works. For a visit but it's not a great spot. Too many trees for satellite and cable sucks. Trees are gorgeous though. Gets muddy in rain. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Doesn't really matter what reviewers say, if you want to be close to steamboat, then this is really your only option. And the park knows it. Yes, the bathrooms clean, but when we got there, the method of cleaning was to throw a bucket of water on the floors. Very difficult not to get your pants wet while using the toilet. The women's private "trash cans" never emptied for the 3 days we were there. The man who checked us in was great, noticed we were eligible for KOA reward, and also personally attended to the cable tv issue we were having. Other employees seemed to wander. Some guy with a clipboard talking to employees very unobservant and not friendly at all. Sites are weedy grass, uneven. No wifi! They shouldn't say they have it. They should spend money on better system like the other KOAs we have visited this year. But again, why should they? People will still come. Pull thru sites share yards. Bus to town is a nice plus. Also office hours 9am-5 pm. Too limiting. No one to call after hours. I noticed many big rigs from the national forest coming in to dump after hours. No one seemed to notice. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Park is located close to Rt 40 and our site was close to the park boundary so we got a lot of traffic noise. We had plenty of room for sitting and the area was grassy. It is kind of expensive but I think that is what you can expect being in Steamboat, especially with the short camping season. The park has all the typical KOA services but could us some upgrading like our picnic table. Still a nice park though. They have Tengonet which was only so-so and the cable was good. We would stay again. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Only game in town if you want hookups. On the free bus line, which was a big plus. Very large, very busy. We got a space in the "Employee Only" area, with a fence separating us from the dump station and employees' trailers for neighbors. Actually it was a quiet space - the more attractive ones got road noise, and the quieter ones sat behind a fence with a dilapidated-looking mobile home park on the other. There is a river on one side but nowhere to go (no hiking trail). The pool is small and unheated, but clean. The store carries mostly junk - no fresh produce, almost no healthy options. We took the bus into town, to stores, etc., without problems. Campground grass is weedy and untended. Most sites are quite close together. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I would stay here again. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The free bus will take you anywhere. We rented electric bikes and went 15 miles out of town. Pedego Electric Bike rentals - highly recommended. Steamboat is a ski resort town full of lean, beautiful, bronzed (and probably very affluent) people. One day we drove our Class C up to Steamboat Lake. The lake is not much to look at, but the scenery getting there is breathtaking. The City Market is a good place for groceries.

Stayed for one night on a busy Thursday evening. Got site 13A which is electric only. It's a large, all grass site, with almost no one next to you, and you can hear the water running from the fountain. It was level and we had plenty of room to set up a tent as well as put the awning out. A little highway noise bothered one of our guests, but we were fine with it. Price reflects 4 adults and one child and one dog. A little high for the area. My older kid enjoyed the large chess set they had to play. The shuttle to town was convenient, and ran until 10:30. The bathrooms were a little dirty and crowded, but this seems to be due to people who don't clean up after themselves, not the management. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

While the staff what friendly, for the price I would have hoped to have a level site. We were charged $15 for early check in even though I had called the day before and inquired about the time we were planning to arrive and no mention was made that we couldn't come before 2 PM without a fee. Then I find out we are charged $5 for choosing our site even thought we made the reservation in off season and long before any reservations were on the book. In addition, our site that was quickly cleaned for us at the additional rate was full of dog poop. The traffic noise alone extends throughout the park and the sites are very close together. Each site has an old, rickety unpainted tables and a newer fire ring. There is a three dollar per day per pet fee. The laundry facilities are nice but expensive and the general store has many amenities. We were here 4 years ago and the park is definitely much more run down. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit here and will find other local options for camping. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

I have read past reviews with mixed results. They are working hard to make improvements. The sites near ours need some tlc but overall it is a decent park. Downside is it is pretty expensive but you can't beat the location. The staff was the hardest working group we have seen in a long time. We will stay here again. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

So many things to do. There is a long walkway along the river, mountain biking in summer and you must take the tram to the top of Steamboat mountain. Lunch was a little pricey at the top but good.

All the employees were polite and helpful. The pool was small and cold so we didn't use it. Mini golf was nice and free. Wifi was quite slow. Maybe good for checking email, but not much else. There were quite a few barking dogs in the park, which was annoying. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed this park. We had lots of grass on our site and a concrete pad. Its located on the river and we could tube from town to our site. We also took advantage of the free shuttle bus to town. The employees were extra nice. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

Booked 3 nights to visit friends in the area, and made the mistake of reserving an individual site ($5 extra charge) without seeing it or talking to the local park staff. When we arrived it was raining and many of the sites were muddy or had standing water (ours had very little grass and lots of mud, but at least no standing water). Not the park's fault, but we went to the office and asked for one with more grass so our dogs ($18 additional charge) would not track mud into our home. The staff was very polite but said they could not move us, even though there were two sites next to us that were vacant and had more grass, as they had people moving in. I wouldn't even mention this, but you guessed it...we never saw another person in either site all three days! Very frustrating! The WiFi was almost unusable but they are up-front about this fact and tell you this in advance. The pool was small and cold but they say it is heated. The proximity to downtown Steamboat Springs is great, as it is just 2 miles away, and the KOA store was one of the best I have seen, with plenty to choose from. The mini golf was nice, and the tent area looked amazing! The river was running really fast so I would hate to see a small unattended child get close. We didn't see anyone fishing, but one of the staff said they usually do pretty good there. The bathrooms were pretty good, but my wife said the ladies floor always had a lot of water. Over 50 TV channels and they came in clear. I saw plenty of employees working hard to make improvements around the park, and everyone we talked to was friendly and courteous. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

If you like BBQ try Steamboat Smokehouse right on the main drag and next to a great gelato shop. Fantastic wings and cheese curds and the brisket melted in our mouths! Nice bar as well!

Had a wonderful stay, as usual, at this KOA in Steamboat. The manager and his staff were a delight after the horrible experience I had at one about an hour and a half down 1-70. . The staff in steamboat is always so friendly and helpful. If you are fortunate enough to get a site on the yampa, you can sleep to the sound of the rover. Another perk is this KOA is the last stop on the free city bus line, so you can go to town for a drink and not worry about getting back safely. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Motorhome.

This campground is definitely improved this year! Restroom renovation is completed. Because restrooms are heavily used, by mid afternoon they are a little messy, and floors are art. RV spaces are nice--easy leveling and fairly spacious. Best camping however is in the back portion of property which is not accessible to trailers and rV's. Biggest negative is the noise from the highway. We also thought cost on the high side. We probably won't stay again unless we can reserve a space along the river--which is beautiful and would somewhat mask the traffic noise. This is is the best RV option if you want to be close to town, but we wouldn't recommend it if you want to spend time outside relaxing in your camp spot. We camped at Steamboat Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.
