This is a very nice park with great views. The park has extra clean bathrooms and coin operated showers. The main bathroom area has a laundry room available. Also, found at this park is a playground, volleyball court, and an amphitheater. This park was enjoyable for some casual walking and wonderful views. The trail down to the lake was closed off when I was there. I was so impressed with this park and grateful for the state investing in the infrastructure found here. I will return this park. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Nice picturesque park. It's very crowded and I was even in one of the large spots on the cliff above the lake. Little to no shade. No easy access to the lake. Only 7 campsites had full hookups. All others just had electric. Water was the biggest problem. They have spigots at various locations around the campground but you must block the road if you want to fill up before you park. Additionally, these spigots must be held on manually the entire time you fill up your tank. As soon as you let go of the lever, the water turns off. I would probably not stay here again. It is pretty, though. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground although many campsites are small in length and not level. Some sites have trees for shade but many are out in the open. Read the other reviews about water. You can fill fresh water in the day use area by the restrooms. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is an upgraded modernized campground with a lucrative restroom. Unfortunately, the park system did not have the wisdom to produce a campground with spacious sites. Generally, the sites are unleveled, close together and most are out in the open with little privacy. The best sites and more spacious reside on the outer edge above the lake. The campground is locate well above the lake, along the edge of a very steep slope. There is little or no access to the lake. Boating, water skiing, tubing, and other water activities are permitted. For some odd reason swimming is not permitted. After paying the steep price for camping, we had to use quarters to take a shower. Sites come with electric, but there is no water at the sites. Water spigots are difficult to locate and most are not along roadway. There is not much to do at this campground. There is limited lake access, a few short trails and everyone, including day users, are crowded into a small area. At least on the weekend this arrangement results in considerable disturbing campground noise. We camped here in a Motorhome and we will not return to this State Park. This is a beautiful park. It's spread out along a sloping ridge by the lake. No view of the lake, though, from most sites. The sites vary between gravel and asphalt and most seem to be fairly level side to side but not front to back. They are huge sites, though, with lots of room between them affording quite a bit of privacy. Only about 6-7 are FHU, though, with the rest being just electric only.
Now for the bad part. This park, along with all the CO state parks rip you off with a $7/day "park pass" on top of the $24 for electric only sites. And as if that's not bad enough, they also charge for the showers! At $31 per night, charging another couple bucks for a decent shower is just insulting. I think next time I'd pay $35 or so for an RV Park with free showers and wi-fi. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Truck Camper.

Fairly easy access from the highway. Some sites have reasonably unobstructed views of the lake, but most don't. Many of the sites would be too small for our 30' Airstream.

Typically at the end of September, I don't worry much about getting reservations at CO parks. But for some reason, this park was packed full on Sept 30th. We got one of the last two sites when we arrived at 6:30 pm. Be forewarned - get reservations! We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very impressive facilities. The buildings that house the restrooms, showers and laundry are extremely clean, new and well laid out. We only stayed for an overnight stop so didn't see much of the lake or hiking trails. The camping spots were mostly asphalt and level. One of the cleanest and neatest campgrounds we've ever stayed at. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pretty park. Only a few FHU sites and many are not very level. Nice hiking trails. Laundry room and showers are clean and well-maintained. Great Verizon and ATT signals. Biggest problem is narrow roads. We stayed near the entrance but had to go around the loop to leave and had a lot of trouble keeping our RV tires on the road. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Not a lot to do in Trinidad. Highway of Legends is a pretty drive with some interesting geologic formations. Check out Rino's Italian Restaurant. They have good food and singing waiters.

Not a bad park. Sites were a little short for the most part. All sites had 50/30amp service. No water at the sites which made this seem like a costly park. The thing that impressed me was staff came around the next morning to shovel out the ashes from the fire rings. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first stay at a Colorado State Park. We were very impressed with the facilities, the cleanliness and layout. They have a clean, modern laundry facility. We didn't take advantage of the lake, but enjoyed the hiking trails. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed the Highway of Legends scenic drive. It's a loop on Highway 12 from Trinidad to Walsenburg. I highly recommend lunch at The Dog Bar in Cuchara.

This is a state park. There is a $10 fee to reserve a site. There is a vehicle entrance fee of $7 a day in addition to the camping fee. The following sites are full hook ups 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 62 & 63. 63 is a handicapped site as well. The sites are spacious but not the most level. The park is quiet. There is not much grass. There is a clean laundry room. That is also where the washrooms are. They do have recycling bins in the laundry room. The staff was friendly. The town of Trinidad is very run down with lots of businesses closed & houses in disrepair. There is a Walmart & a couple of fast food restaurants. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful scenery and the RV sites were generously spaced apart. You will also have to pay $7.00 for a parking pass. Well worth the drive off the highway. Used VZW wifi service and excellent signal. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great campground overall. A little tight for big rigs but manageable. Take note that there are 2 campgrounds. Road signs are a little unclear. Carpios Ridge is the main campground with utilities--watch for that sign. Do not follow the signs to the "South Shore". Also, using I 25 exit 13 per directions on the park website, allows you to avoid a narrow dam crossing. Signs on I 25 will direct you to use exit 11. The bathrooms were brand new, very clean. Showers are $.75 for about 2 minutes, so bring lots of quarters. Great walking trails, and places to walk dogs. Very windy at times. Gets crowded on weekends, so make reservations. We camped at Trinidad Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
