Bathrooms need some one to clean. The are pretty dirty. They do dump the trash but that is all. The campgrounds are very nice and appealing. Also there are no doggie bags and bag holders are empty. It was better when I was here in Sept 2015. I'm surprised how things have changed. Enter from the north gate, easy to get to campground We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We are wrapping up our second month before heading South for the winter. We have really enjoyed our stay here! The sites are spacious, and the Famcamp is well maintained. All of the sites are treed, but we didn't have any problems getting satellite TV with our portable dish. However, I'm sure that's not the case with all sites. There are train tracks around 150 yards East of the Famcamp, and trains are running at all hours. You will need a pressure regulator to use the water at the sites. In addition, there is a graded crossing around 1/10 mile North of the Famcamp, so Northbound trains are blowing their horn pretty much directly behind the Famcamp. The Western-most sites are a bit quieter from the trains, but as they are near the entrance, receive more road traffic, and therefore more dust. The picnic area adjacent to the Famcamp has a nice playground, and there are many areas to hike. In addition, the Academy's two golf courses are just a few minutes away from the Famcamp. They do have limited free WiFi at the office and the two bathhouses, or you can rent a Jetpack at the office. Should you need RV supplies while staying here, there is a Walmart a couple of miles North of the AF Academy North gate. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Another excellent campground. I timed it just right, left the morning of the Air Force - Navy football game. Pure traffic mayhem from noon on. Lot's of great shade, makes a portable satellite antenna almost required. The day I arrived they were expecting 30 + snow birds to come in for the winter, summer is limited stay. Plenty of room for the MH and toad. All the base amenities are available, gym, shopping, eating, etc. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful campground with spacious sites set amount the trees but it has some flaws. There is no WiFi at the campground. You can purchase a hotspot for $25 for 7 days or you can go by one of the restroom buildings. If you have a satellite dish, you are very limited in the sites you can use. I asked for a satellite friendly site and they did not give me one. We were lucky and were able to find a spot to put our external antenna. If you have a dish on the roof, you need to get one of the few sites that will work. The fellow at the desk had a strange attitude - not sure if it was just his personality - but he was not the type of person that should be working at the front desk. The shower was not cleaned properly the 10 days were there. The same hair was tangled in the drain the whole time. If you do not have a well insulated RV and are sensitive to noise, you are not going to like the trains that are constantly going though. They did not bother us. Going through the gate is a challenge for a longer coach but it is doable. They have tight curves that required that we drive on the slanted curbs. On the plus side, the sites are spacious and in a beautiful setting. They are level. Very close by, there was a running/biking/walking trail that goes for about 14 miles. It goes through the woods and is just a beautiful place to go. Right outside the south gate are ponds and there is a another long trail. There are lots of great places to walk the dog. The Academy grounds are beautiful. We would go there again. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00

We stayed at the FamCamp for 5 nights in July, 2016. I had called 3 months earlier to reserve a site. I specifically told the person taking the reservations that we had a 38 foot 5th wheel (we've been here before and they had the info in the computer) and we needed 50 amp. When we arrived they put us in a short space - our tires hit the backstop at the site - fortunately there were no trees behind us. After unhooking we discovered the site was 30 amp (one of only 7 in the whole campground). We asked to be moved but they said no - well, they said we could but we would have to pick up and move again in the middle of our stay. We opted to stay and just be careful with our electrical requirements. This is the first time we have stayed there that we've had any problems. Because the site was small, we couldn't open our awning all the way due to trees. A smaller RV would work because it would have been sitting in the right spot on the site. Wifi was iffy. Laundry room was spotless and the price was good for the machines - they do have a change machine which was nice. Because our daughter lives in Colorado Springs we will be using this campground again - we will try one more time and if the same sort of thing happens we will have to find other accommodations. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Our son was a student at the Academy so he sponsored us to stay here. It was fabulous. We spent 6 weeks there each year - from January -into February and then back again in September for another 6 weeks. Very safe, nice people, we did venture out to another campground near Pikes Peak and came right back to the Academy. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

No fires here unless they have had enough rain. Any campfires have to be in a raised fire ring, so bring one along. They do have them for rent. If you have a student at the Academy this is a great spot to stay for Parent's Weekend - walk to the football stadium.

This is our favorite park by far. It looks like a rustic area with many pines and open areas but has excellent sites that are separated and positioned so that every one feels like you have the place to yourself. All sites have full hookups and are usually level. The staff is very good and will accommodate you any way they can. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

What everybody else said. Great, beautiful campground. Long pull-throughs, good sized lots. Ours was a triangle shape. Best water pressure and voltage I seen in a month. Good WiFi, but slow when many are on. OTA is adequate, but I am having trouble tuning in my antenna. Train tracks and I-25 are close. Traffic noise is not noticeable but train noise can be disruptive when trying to sleep. Small aircraft noise is present at time from the USAFA airfield. Convenient to Colorado Springs and tourists sites. Commissary is small but adequate, bx is nice. Cannot use north gate due to construction. RVs do not have to use the truck inspection area at the south gate (I-25 exit 150). We had a rather long wait to find that out. Campground roads have many deep potholes. This is one of the better FamCamps in the system. Customer service is excellent. Pea-gravel sites are long and have decent space between them, especially on the patio side, with a metal picnic table and BBQ grill. Some are not satellite friendly unless you have a portable dish antenna. A handful of sites have minor sloping issues. There are two nice bath/laundry buildings at each end of the CG. It's kid friendly with a playground, volley ball court, and plenty of space to ride bikes. Also for the kids, there is an ample supply of junk food sweets at the check-in office. Voltage is good even with a full park. Water pressure is high! A regulator is a must. My Wi-Fi repeater signal at the back of the camp was 5 bars so the signals are solid, but it’s slow when the park is full and everyone is hogging bandwidth. Verizon 4G is good. If you have a digital ready TV, then there are about a dozen stations that can be received. The AF base has all of the amenities one needs with an exception that the Commissary is small. Go off base and use a local grocery. There is also a separate 30A section of the CG which is similar in all respects. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.
