Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here in Aug, 2016 in a Class A motorhome. Camp owners and hosts are friendly and helpful. Beautiful views. The park is next to a hill with a huge rock bluff (probably over 700 ft to the top) on one side and the Rio Grande River on the other side.

Campground has rental jeeps and horseback rides with a guide. Only minutes from both South Fork and Creede. Good fishing, both stream and lakes, in the area.

Campground is nothing special with most of the sites without shade, only 8-10 had shade. Most sites are pull through and all sites are gravel with varying levelness. No picnic tables. Restaurant on site for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Good food. We camped at Cottonwood Cove in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This August will be our 3rd year to stay at this awesome park. There are no showers or restrooms in the park, but there are restrooms located in the Lodge. The sites are nothing special, but the views are remarkable, being located in a canyon with walls of almost 1000 feet tall. The Rio Grande flows through the park and is available for float trips furnished by the park. Guided horseback riding is also available. Some days you can watch the bighorn sheep gracefully come down the mountainside and graze next to the park. The gift shop is worth the trip and the restaurant is very good. I hate to write this review because it is getting harder to get a spot as it gets more RVers staying here. There is free Wi-Fi and it is good if you are close to the laundry or you can access it on the bench at the laundry. TV reception is nonexistent so bring your satellite dish or lots of movies. Phone service is lousy, but you can drive a mile up the road and Verizon is great! We camped at Cottonwood Cove in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Creede is about 6 miles north and is listed in 10 places you never heard of, but must see! Thousands of acres of National Forest land to discover and many lakes, waterfalls, and walking trails.

Overall Rating:

This is a very well located park with the Rio Grande River running through the resort and an amazing towering rock mountain just behind it. One morning I saw a herd of bighorn sheep on the grassy area just behind us!

There is a restaurant, store and ice cream parlor on site. The ice cream cones are large, inexpensive and you can sit on the patio and watch hummingbirds while you eat.

Friendly campers and grassy sites are a plus, as is the open sky for dish, not always available in these mountains.

Phone and internet are poor to non-existent and the laundry leaves it bit to be desired.

Fishing is available on the grounds as well as jeep and raft rentals and horseback rides. We camped at Cottonwood Cove in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

The park is located at the base of a huge, beautiful cliff that has deer, elk, and bighorn sheep on its slopes. Our site was a long level, gravel pull thru with grass between sites. All utilities worked fine. The internet is extremely weak and Verizon service is about 1/2 bar. The host was very friendly and helpful. They have a good restaurant on site and the ice cream in the gift shop is both delicious and inexpensive. There a lot of cottonwood trees (hence the name) shading the property, but we were in the open, so our satellite dish worked fine. Phone and internet upgrades would make this park a "10". We camped at Cottonwood Cove in a Fifth Wheel.

Well maintained, "country" RV park about 12 miles south of Creede. The Rio Grande River is a short walking distance across the highway. Gravel/grass spaces that are easy to pull-through. The Wi-Fi access is very sketchy and slow if available. Not all cellular service is available (T-Mobile not available). Beautiful area next to the river and mountains. Horseback riding, river rafting, jeep rental, fishing, hiking: enough to keep everyone busy for weeks. RV park entrance is on west side of Lodge and Cabins! The entrance is fairly narrow, adjust your turning accordingly! Interior roads are easily negotiated. If you stop at the Lodge, pull in at front parallel to the road. Do not attempt to pull in on west side of Lodge with large rigs! Camp host site well marked inside the entrance. The camp host, staff, and owners are all very friendly and helpful. Some "summer-long" campers who return every year. We will definitely camp here again. We camped at Cottonwood Cove in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent the summer here parked not too far from the Rio Grande River. This resort has cabins as well as an RV Park. The resort is on both sides of State Highway 149 and has an assortment of activities such as horseback riding, rafting, jeep rentals, volleyball, fishing, and horseshoes. The location has scenic views of the surrounding mountains. We had bears in the campground quite often, so we had to take precautions with garbage, etc. The managers are extremely helpful and the lodge serves good old fashioned down home meals. We will definitely return. We camped at Cottonwood Cove in a Fifth Wheel.
