We stayed here for 1 night. Loved the large pull thru sites with electric. Water spicets are shared and are only used to fill up your tanks, not to connect to your RV.The sites are spacious and private. Beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains, specifically the Spanish Peaks. We were able to watch a beautiful sunset. The bathrooms and showers are BASIC. The showers were nice HOT water, but the water pressure was kind of low. Also bring your quarters to shower, 50 cents for 4 minutes. I used $1.25 for my shower. This campsite is very close to I-25, and well worth the 5 mile drive off of the Interstate. There is not much in the small town of Walsenburg, that you have to drive thru to get to the park. I always try to do my part and either buy gas in a small dying town or find a place to eat to help the local economy. This park is in between Trinidad CO and Pueblo CO. We will definately stay here again. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice State Park about three miles west of the town on Highway 160. Large enough pull through sites for my 41 foot 5th wheel. The water hookups on some sites are close enough to fill up your unit without having to move it but they are shared so you can't stay hooked up to it. Overall it is a very nice park with a nice lake for fishing and boating. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very spacious sites and clean. Water not at each camp spot so look for water fill sites first and fill before setting up if none at your site. Some prickly pears so be careful. Will be back again. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wow is my first thought! This is the most beautiful state park we hav ever been in. There was no water at our site, but there are lots of water spigots scattered in the park, and the map they give you shows their locations. We had good 50 amp service, but only got 3-4 tv channels on antenna and couldn't hookup our DirecTV receiver. Might have been because it was very overcast. The park is easy to get around in (with map) and has a lot to do.The paved, pullthrough site was fairly level and electric was on the corrrect side. It was VERY WINDY though. The views were incredible...snow capped mountains and beautiful, natural scrubs and birds. There were a lot of other campers in our loop D, but the sites are so spacious you feel like you're all alone. I would highly recommend this park, just wish they gave some kind of discount to people who weren't from Colorado. Office staff was very friendly and helpful, and told us if we saw a site other than the one they assigned, just call them and take that site (if it wasn't reserved). We liked the one they assigned. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful, scenic campground with widely spaced level sites. Big lake for fishing & boating, a good base camp for exploring the Spanish Peaks area, and just a few miles from I-25 so also good for an overnight. Like the other CO state parks we've been to this one is also spotlessly clean with very friendly staff and hosts. $24/night is the base fee. Unless you have a CO parks pass you'll need to add $7 a day and reservations on Reserve America have a $10 fee. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We had a nice 2-night stay here. Each of the spaces is designed for privacy, and there is electricity and water, but no sewer. Not a problem for a short stay - and there is a dumping station on the grounds. Great walking trails, a nice couple of small lakes, and a view of the Rocky Mountains to the west - a gorgeous view I might add. The small town of Walsenberg isn't that much, but this park is close to the interstate, another plus if you're traveling north towards Denver or south to New Mexico. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Motorhome.

The 30 year old plus campground restrooms are shameful. They can only be used by one person at a time. So if someone has actually paid for a shower, the toilet is not available. Overlooking the restroom situation, this is an excellent park and an excellent place for RV camping. There are three campground loops with an assortment of sites. Most are level, some are pull through, and nearly all are very spacious with attractive juniper and pinyon trees. Verizon works great here and we had no problem getting Dish Network. Water is not included at the sites, but at some sites the spigots are rather close for a temporary connection. Sites have a view of the Spanish Peaks and the lakes. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. The campsites are large, have water and electric. Many have gorgeous mountain views. There are trees but they are pinion pines, so they are tall shade trees. There isn't much else in the area, but you can find groceries in Walsenburg. Other than a grocery run, the town doesn't offer much. We will go back. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a really fine RV park and relaxing get away. Numerous loops, spacious sites, we found the restrooms to be well maintained, as well. From our patio table, we could see the Spanish Peaks, which were beautiful to view from sunrise to sunset. The park's roads were great for dog walking, utilities were easily connected. We arrived late, didn't have a chance to interact with park staff. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Motorhome.

This is an okay State Park, fairly rustic and family oriented. Staff were helpful at check in. Interior roads are asphalt and big rig access was average. Our paved pad was a long, level, pull through, very spacious so plenty of room for our towed. Privacy between sites was good, shade trees, picnic table and fire ring. We were in Piñon campground so had wonderful views over to the Spanish Peaks from our site. Bathrooms were fine, basic but clean. Pet friendly, on a leash of course! No Wifi but cell was fine. It was very quiet during the week but very hectic at the weekend with lots and lots of boats. We would stay here again, but only during the week. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Motorhome.

Great park - have stayed here before. We like the sites in loop D on the east and outside and they are very private. Good pull throughs. Nice firepits. Good OTA TV and also tailgater view of south sky. Good (2 bars LTE) Verizon. Fishing can be fun if not too much algae. Nice 3-mile loop around one lake for bikes or walking. Quiet area yet just a couple of miles into Walsenburg. New grocery there is way better than Safeway - called First Choice Market on Walsen Av, north end of town. We camped at Lathrop State Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

Drive the historic loop Hwy 12 around San Francisco Peaks - great geology - lots of dikes that are spectacular. Cute towns of Cuchara and La Veta. Good dirt bike riding in Wet Mtns. Fishing at Bear Lake southwest of Cuchara. Sand Dunes NM, and drive up to Mosca Pass. Mining museum in Walsenburg.

We got to pick our own spot, but watch out for the "Reserved" signs on some of them. We were far enough away from others to still have privacy and a great view. The park employees patrol regularly and it's really quiet all night long. Stayed two nights and wish it could have been longer. Very windy when we were there.
