This was the only place we could find near Cheyenne during Frontier Days. We reserved months ahead of our visit and got one the ten concrete pad FHU sites. As soon as we pulled in to the campground and opened the doors, we smelled the cow dung. This KOA is situated between a cow pasture and a horse pasture. The smell comes and goes. We were escorted to our premium site, which faced a horse pasture with two horses. Right in front of our rig was an overflowing dumpster. Flies were everywhere. I sat outside and within a couple of minutes there were about 10 on me and a couple dozen on the picnic table. During our week there, we couldn't sit outside because of flies. A fellow traveler put out three pest strips that were black on both sides with flies after three hours. Staff did there jobs, but weren't particularly friendly. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cheyenne is 30 minutes north. There's a McDonald's, Burger King, taco place and a grocery store three miles to the south. Wellington, a very small town, is five miles south. Ft. Collins, a much larger town (and very nice) is 10 miles south. Between Wellington and Ft. Collins is an exit with a large Budweiser (Busch) plant that has a good free tour and a cafe. The campground exit off of I-25 (Exit 281) has nothing but the campground.

This is the worst KOA we have ever visited. There was no one to help us to as site as there was a meeting of the staff at 4:00 in the afternoon?? As soon as we checked in the power went out in the area and the staff was annoyed when we inquired about it. Our site had a dead tree over hanging out camper. 90% of the park was permanent residents We were told not to use our sewer as it was clogged. When I complained about paying for sewer and expected a discount, the attendant became annoyed. There was the smell from a nearby feedlot as well as flies. I do not know how they can keep their KOA identity. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Travel Trailer.

There are a lot of comments about the smells coming from the nearby feed lot; thankfully, we smelled none of it (guess the winds were good for our weekend). Although we didn't use the facilities, I did walk through them and they all were clean. The site we camped at was probably gravel at one time; now it's just mud. There is 30 amp service, sewer, water, and even a cable TV connection. The sites are too small to really spread out. Although there is a picnic table, there is not a grill or fire pit. The campground seems a bit dated. There are people living in the campground with all the clutter that that entails. And there are some RVs stored in the area. There is a dog walking area; but it isn't enclosed so they need to stay on a leash. We toured Fort Collins to the south and Cheyenne to the north from this location. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

I was referred to this park by a park mgr. in Loveland, CO because their RV park was full. I reserved 2 days ahead and was told on the phone that I had to pay by credit card then and NO refund was possible as they had a 48 hr. refund policy. Soon after my arrival I noticed an awful odor in the air. I found out that there's a cattle lot close by and the park frequently smells bad. The smell varies according to the direction of the wind and at times made me nauseous. I will never, ever stay in this park again. This is unfortunate as the staff was very friendly and helpful when we checked in. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

This place was a disappointment, considering the owners also own the other two KOAs in the vicinity, which are much nicer. Dirty, grass not mowed, old RVs with ACs duct taped to the sides. The office staff is nice. One thing we just don't understand is the lack of adequate WiFi. What's the point of advertising free WiFi, if you can't get it in the park. Let's face it, not everyone is on "vacation from technology", plus people need to work from the road, etc. Very, very unsatisfactory.

This place might be OK for an overnight since it is close to I-25, but no longer than that. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The park staff was very helpful. For example, a branch on a tree was too close to one of our slides; they quickly trimmed the branch for us. Every time I had a question, the staff was very happy to respond. Some have complained about the smell. There is a feedlot behind the park, and sometimes there is an oder of livestock. We found that most of the time, the smell was not that strong; it was simply a farm-smell. Every once in a while, depending on the wind, the smell was a bit stronger. I guess if you are a city person, that might be a problem, but for a country boy, even at the worst it wasn't all that bad. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again for the views, and for the great service. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rocky Mountain National Park is about 1 hour 15 minutes drive. It's worth it. Some shopping in Wellington, more shopping in Fort Collins. About as close to Cheyenne as to Denver - and the traffic is much less crazy in Cheyenne.

This place stinks. Literally. Right over the hill is a huge cattle feed lot and it is rank! If that doesn't bother you, it is so far from a real grocery store, 15 minute drive to get everything you need at a decent price, plus it's located right off a busy, noisy highway. Sometimes I thought there were actually cows in my yard they were so loud. There were also bugs like you wouldn't believe. However, most of the staff were super nice and accommodating and the sites were nicely laid out plus more spacious and clean than some other campgrounds we have been to. The laundry and bathrooms were also clean. However, their little store is severely overpriced on most items which really is a bummer when there isn't a store nearby. Also, they seemed to have trouble choosing a rate as every person I talked to was paying a different monthly amount for the same services. They charged too much IMO for extra people and extra pets as well. I had a hard time understanding why it cost so much and was so inconveniently located. I would stay here again if I had to, but I would need bug spray and nose plugs to do so. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Probably par by KOA standards, but not acceptable for us. Be aware of VERY rough, gravel/dirt road access to the park. Checkin was ok, and nice mgr guided us to our gravel spot near front of park. Some long-term campers in back had concrete pad. At night, there was a terrible stinch from the cattle feedlot, located directly east and adjacent to the park. This was never mentioned in the park's description or in other RV Park Reviews. Individual bathrooms were clean and large, but handicap accessible room was not open. Entire park is covered in weed stickers, and essentially no area to walk your dog. I would not stay here again, nor recommend to other RVers. This is a very quiet park with strong electric, good water, weak wifi. We had a pretty good Verizon cell and data signal. There are many long-term rigs and all are very quiet and most very neat sites. We were in one of the 50-amp deluxe sites. Although it had a concrete pad, it was very unlevel, front to back and side to side. Two tires were off the ground after using our auto leveling. Yard was mostly weeds. Staff was helpful. We would stay here again if we are visiting Fort Collins. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of the worst KOA'S we've stayed in. Mosquitos and flies were terrible! Our scenic view was a dumpster and a tent. We usually enjoy cooking outside occasionally, but didn't even consider it here because of the insect population. Stayed this park because of its proximity to Cheyenne. frontier days, but would have been glad to drive a few miles further and stay at KOA Lakeside. (Should have heeded previous reviews) We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night as we were on a 9 day college tour for my son who is interested in Colorado state. This was our first RV trip. We stayed in nine parks after but this was our first. We almost cancelled the entire trip thinking all KOAs would be similar. The staff was incredibly friendly, the park was clean, the facilities were also nice and clean. However, if paradise smelled like this and had as many flies and mosquitoes as the Wellington KOA, I would rather stay in a Walmart parking... on an egg crate. Sorry, but the bugs and smell are too much to overcome. Pass on it unless Walmart is full. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

We found this to be a very nice park. Wifi was acceptable, we didn't use the cable as the over the air TV channels were plentiful, and the sites were clean and level. Staff was great! The downside was that cattle ranch just down the road. It was a very rainy weekend and the smell was bad. Lots of birds and flies. We will stay here again when we need a last minute close by campground and all others are booked. We camped at Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Half of the park is dirt sites that are filled with permanent residents and very unkempt. The other half is concrete diets that are fairly well kept. Utilities were good. Septic near back of site. Lots of birds! Entrance is on a public dirt road that is a little bit rough. Their entrance also a little rough. Just go slow. Typical overpriced KOA.
